No one ever taught me to solder with flux and the solder I buy (once every 5 years) says it has flux. Would love a quick explanation of what solder/flux you use and why. Either a video, in a video, or in the comments. But, it’s your channel; you do you. Thanks!

for flexible cable, it‘s often easier to dip the ends in a little jar of flux. The flux in the solder is good, but it spreads better in the Cable that way.
I just got a Block of Violin Kolofon 20 Years ago for 5$ or so. A few shards broken off that disolved in Ethanol does the Trick.

Hey Phil! I use 4 core rosin solder. Most of the time I dont really need the flux. Sometimes is a "hedge your bets" type of thing. For example: soldering wire to say a tab on a Powercon connector. Since the only thing that is attaching the wire to the tab is the solder, flux is often just a safer bet to make sure you get maximum adhesion. The other place where I use it is with the Neutrik silver BAG connectors. The solder really doesn't want to stick to those cups without flux - which is why I always use gold connectors as an example. I should probably make a video...haha
