- Brandon Li is an incredibly creative filmmaker and a great storyteller- and he has some really cool editing techniques too. For today's video I decided to recreate and break down some of the transitions Brandon Li uses in videos like his Seoul and Hong Kong Strong films to create a unique flow/energy.

Dat Tran yea I think he's not underrated. He gets work with brands and has videos classified under staff picks by Vimeo. His storytelling and dedication is pretty amazing. There are however lots of talented filmmakers out there without a social media following. How many of us know the great filmmakers in Hollywood that didn't direct Transformers? Brandon Li is just less famous than the younger guys like Sam Kolder whose techniques have been abused beyond redemption by the young enthusiasts that just began dabbling in film making. Brandon didn't invent most of those transitions but he execute them tastefully which is something we should all learn. What's really underrated is subtlety. Not every scene change has to come with some epilepsy-inducing transition complete with luma fades and fancy zooms. It is like watching someone use every transition effect in a presentation when they first use MS PowerPoint...

Brandon Li is my favourite RUclips filmmaker. His story telling is out of this world. His transitions are subtle but powerful compared to the trendy ones in youtube
