I have seen the giant taro plant in my own country but we eat the smaller version . We peel the outer skin of the stem and cut along into four strips and cut across into smaller pieces. We cook it with chilli, garlic, ginger, shallots, spices, galangal, dried prawns and shrimp paste. We also add in coconut milk for the extra flavour. I love yam too. You are truly blessed to live in the country side with vast land filled with fruit trees, veggies and your own farm animals. I am truly touched how you took care of your grandmother and brother.

Of course, these particular dishes have a lot of chili being added but what is most amazing is how cooking was so enjoyable without all the electronic equipment - blenders, grinders etc. now people cannot seem to do without them. Even the earthen cookware offers a far better flavor that the more modern cookware. ... I thoroughly enjoy these videos... Sri Lanka has so much of locally grown items and there is so much nutrition around us that is surprising why so many have ailments and illnesses.

When I was a kid we used to have lots of taros in our backyard back in Bangladesh! My mother would cook the taros and also the stems, roots and leaf. They were really tasty! Miss those days! By the way love to watch your videos. Keep up the good work guys. Love from USA! ❤️🌹

This is like fairytale....so good... cooking .. environment...and the people...so much love in it
these videos are beautifully done and it all looks so appetizing and so healthy. Of course, these particular dishes have a lot of chili being added but what is most amazing is how cooking was so enjoyable without all the electronic equipment - blenders, grinders etc. now people cannot seem to do without them. Even the earthen cookware offers a far better flavor that the more modern cookware. ... I thoroughly enjoy these videos... Sri Lanka has so much of locally grown items and there is so much nutrition around us that is surprising why so many have ailments and illnesses.
