Jim Donovan. Just joy and love comes to mind. I fought Sickle Cell Disease in the Seidman Cancer Center while Jim fought Leukemia. Same floor, rooms right down and across from each other. My grandfather, RIP, was by my side when i said, "Dad! Thats Jim Donovan! Do you think he'll want to speak to me?" I approached Jim as if he were a Browns player himself and he was so kind. I met someone who made my day that and every day we spent on that hospital floor while we were both battling and suffering. But he was so kind to me and my grandad. I was in my twenties and he made me feel like i was a kid again. Just such a kind man. Tears fall as type this thinking of him and my grandfather. Two of the kindest, most beautiful men ive had the pleasure of being around. Little did he know. Ill keep fighting Jim as your fight has come to an end. RIP AND LOVE TO THE GREAT JIMMY D ❤
Cincinnati sports fan here. I've listened to many Bengals-Browns radio broadcasts on the Cleveland side, and watched quite a few games on NBC when Jim Donovan was an announcer with them. He loved what he did, and he did what he loved. Excellent broadcaster, and may he rest in peace.
Thank you so much Jim Donovan for all of the great energetic passionate moments in sports you have given to Cleveland for so many years. Condolences to his family and all the people who are touched by his passing.
What a warm, talented, upstanding man. Jimmy was Cleveland football. We were privileged to hear his play-by-play calls and his insights into the games. Sadly, nothing good lasts forever. God bless you, Jim. God bless your family during this incredibly difficult time. You will remain a legend here in N.E. Ohio. 🙏💕
Beautiful tribute to Jim. Rest in peace. Huge thank you to his wife and daughter for sharing him. He will never be forgotten, and they both will always be loved.
Cleveland sports fans have been blessed to have the privilege of listening to so many great voices over the years. Voices like Gib Shanley, Joe Tate, Herb Score, Nev Chandler, and Tom Hamilton. There will only be one Jim Donovan. Thank you, Jimmy D, for being the voice of a generation of Cleveland sports fans, and for providing us with so many wonderful memories and moments. "RUN, WILLIAM, RUN!"😢
I grew up listening and watching Jim. I will remember that voice forever. Screw the haters and long live Cleveland sports. Thanks for keeping it real, Jim. Rest easy.
Before the Browns returned, we got to hear Jim Donovan call NFL games on NBC. Most of the time, the games he called were lower rung games. However he also got the chance to fill in and call games with the likes of Bob Trumpy and Paul Maguire. You could hear his passion on his broadcasts. He will be missed
Being a Browns fan has always been more pain than pleasure since I was a kid, but there's a comfort in having grown up with Nev Chandler and getting Jim Donovan as an adult. Two of the best, both gone way too soon.
Jim Donovan was a gentleman. Such a kind soul. Always a smile on his face. God bless Jim Donovan. Joe Tate passed away a while ago also people seem to forget that.
Leaving some Tears and Smiles from a Fan down the road in Columbus, Ohio. Having followed MANY Legends of Sportscasters and Broadcasters from both TV and Radio, Mr. Donovan will always be at my top of the list! Pure enthusiasm for his craft and his down to Earth personality made it so much fun to share the air with him while he waxed poetically to his Loyal Listeners! WE were the lucky ones! Blessings and Love to Mr. Donovan's Family and Friends and Fans! MOO From COW-lumbus, Ohio
I used to watch Jimmy as much as possible. His positivity and upbeat nature was a refreshing addition to the evening news. Throughout his years on the air, he told us long suffering Cleveland sports fans that it was okay to root for our lovable losers. The best compliment I can give is that you will be missed by the many fans who never had the pleasure of meeting you.😢
I've had the honor to meet Jimmy. Shake his hand. I wish I could say I had a conversation but my elementary age combined with my elementary social skills, denied me that. But know what? Jimmy didn't deny me a conversation. He tried to start one with me, just a kid and sports fan. His energy was genuine and so was the kindness he displayed. We literally don't have anything to look forward to anymore in the browns. Cleveland Loves you Jimmy
Jimmy you will be greatly missed. You brought Browns football to life every game hearing your play by play on the radio. Your excitement was contagious! You pushed on even when you weren’t feeling good but you did it for Cleveland & your love for the Browns! I tip my hat to you! My deepest sympathies go out to your wife, daughter, family & countless friends! May you rest in eternal peace! God bless you!
I'm in tears watching this. I never met him, but his voice reminds me of home. Of the love & enthusiam & pride for Cleveland. I will miss his excitement (tho Andrew will do a good job in his place) and his work ethic and his pride for his adopted city. Condolences to his family and friends. May you rest in peace and may one day the Browns win a SB in your memory.
Russ Mitchell! Always did good work for KMOV, Channel 4, in St. Louis, and later, CBS News. Hard to see him with the gray hair, reminding me that we're all getting older. RIP, Jim Donovan. 🙏
i don't think shaq was being mean or trying to help he WNBA i think he was just being honest he was telling the truth but these days KC the truth just doesn't sell.
Jim was one of the BEST play by play guys in the Midwest and the nation! My deepest condolences to his family friends and the Browns organization!

And the Browns just got a big time W over the Ravens in Jim Donovan’s honor! 🙏🏾
Moved from Cleveland 12 years ago, but still listened to him every Sunday during the season. Heartbreaking.
I like how Jim's mannerisms in the booth rubbed off on Nate when he is in the booth. Rest in peace, Jim.
