Just did it on a 2009 nissan murano. No need to do all that. Did it on a side of the road. You do need jack and Jack stands. Need to remove passanger wheel. Need to remove idler pulley cause its on the way of the alternator nut. Also got to remove ac compressor 4 bolts. Once all the bolts removed for the ac compressor you be able to get it out of the way. Then you can remove the last bolt on top thats holding the alternator. Remove the harness thats goin to alternator, theres a plug and nut. You should be able to slide out the alternator through the passanger side, wiggle it out where the ac compressor is at. I was able to do it. No need to unbolt anything else. Then just do in reverse everything.
@@drdiot1 except you removed hoses and drained coolant. Their way was basically the same with less steps. I have to do this on my Pathfinder this weekend and would prefer not to drain any fluids or remove any hoses
Had to drop the AC compressor, remove two pulleys...was able to get the bolts out without pulling radiator hoses... What I’m having trouble with is the clip next to the terminal on top of the alternator. Update: Got the clip, it was a beast. Had to pull radiator hose that goes into the oil filter. Got the alternator out, like fitting a square in a round hole. But it came out, Took 3.5 hours to get out and 1.5 to get back in and all together. Thanks for the vid.
I appreciate you taking the time to make the video but you might learn something from the guys that are replying to you. You don't need to remove the grille. You don't need to remove the coolant. If you loosen the two rear subframe bolts and then lower the front of the subrame, you gain all kinds of space for dealing with the AC and the wiring. The 3 wire plug is a mutha but the rest is straight forward. Not trying to be a hero, just professional.
Remove the rad and fans. Loosen the pulley. Remove the belt. Undo the top bolt and the long through bolt under after removing the exhaust manifold heat shield and oxygen sensor. Remove all connectors from alternator and one to underneath the AC compressor. Remove alternator from the top. Installation is reversal of removal. Good idea to test the alternator before installing, since this is not a 15 minute job such as on a Chevy small block.

So I pull out the alternator from the bottom, just lower the ac compressor and the subframe only the two front 22 mm of the front frame , make enough space disconnect that coolant hose and from the top unbolt the electric fans and I had access to the alternator by my self was 5 hours straight no break ! I have done this for the third time now in 6 months. Originally, supplier gave me the wrong alternator which became evident with irregular idle and surging. Apparently there were two types used and I just happened to be supplied the wrong one. So 2nd time around to replace it with the correct one and there is another 5 hours I will never get back. Now 6 months on, the new unit sounds like the bearing has given up and was making an enormous racket and even had smoke coming out of it. I removed it yesterday and now hope the warranty will cover me for a new one, but I am stuck with having to do the labour. I agree with you, Jessee Morales, I did what you did but with the exception of disconnecting the coolant hose, but I think I will when I reinstall, it's a pain in the ass.

Because it seems mine is ass backwards from the video. I can see it from the top but can't barely see it from the bottom. Am I able to do it from the top? Looks like I'll have to remove the antifreeze reservoir and the hose ..

It doesn’t make sense, to replace and repair an alternator, it seems one who have to disassemble a whole vehicle in order to gain access to…whatever?🤔. Simplicity wins future sales and long term survivability not short term idiotic gains.

@@drdiot1 the easy way is drop the AC compressor still attached and pull the alternator from the bottom. Came out very easily. Got at tricky top alternator bolt using a 20 inch long 3/8th extension and universal joint. There was almost 0 possiblity of disconnecting the alt pigtail and I ended up breaking it. It's on order so should be here tomorrow. Splicing will be difficult but doable. Its -30c here today and working in non heated garage, so won't get back to it until it goes above -20c
Even with alternator removed I couldn't release 3 wire connector with my hands, so buy the ~15$ part ahead of time if attempting this way. Why they made that wire harness so short is beyond me...

What’s so different in the procedures from the 2007 to the 2008
In 2007 they didnt use the cvt transmission so the alternator is in the front like a normal car
