For me, the biggest advantage of a snowblower/snow thrower vs a shovel or snow pusher is that, when the weather warms up, relocated snow melts off at the same rate as the base snow. Pushed snow/shoveled snow tends to melt much slower, long after the base snow is gone.
I'm in southwestern Michigan. We get hit with lake effect snow. Two of my neighbors have gone electric lawn and snow. The ladies love them. Never any problems. One of them will do my 50 feet of driveway since I no longer can. My old big Snow King is retired. I had it modified and used to do 10 drives in my block and the sidewalk. Too old and broken now...me that is.
I’m near St. Joe. Have used an ego snowblower since moving here and have been very impressed. The steel auger breaks up the icey mix the plow leaves and it even tackled the 12+ inch storm we had last year. Two of my neighbors have them too and are very impressed as well.
Just put my order in for the dedicated snow shovel! We don't get a ton of snow around here in southern NY these days and I have a pretty small driveway to clean up. I'm going to keep my old Murray gas guzzler for big storms but I think the shovel should do the trick for most situations. I deliberated for a while between getting this model and the multi-head, but after seeing the improved ergonomics and lighter weight, it was a no-brainer.
I have ego tools except the snowblower, I prefer my toro gas single stage 252cc can easily handle 12” of the heavy wet snow. My neighbour has the ego single stage and it can handle the light stuff. I have helped him many times since his ego can’t cut it
Wonder if you shoot some WD silicone in and around the chute to maybe help the turning issue. I have a gen 1 unit and don’t recall it being difficult to turn. I love the new addition of the lever to control the throw angle.
I have the Toro Power curve plug in and a 100' 12 gauge cord. My battery never runs out. Sounds about the same and will continue working until the job is done. No battery degradation either. But it is a good evaluation and if the unit was not $900 at Lowe's it might be a good option vs the corded toro unit at $200. Really the batteries are very expensive and a good profit center for both Lowes and EGO. If you don't have a need for the battery in the summer, then this might not be the best decision. If you go with this
If you're dealing with physical issues, or have kids who can't shovel all day, or you want it done faster, these are great. If you'd rather shovel, that's fine too. I'm in Canada land, and for most of the snow season, a larger electric snow thrower shovel like shown at the end would be great. But once it's up almost to my knees with that rare kid winter storm, a bigger snow blower is needed. I understand that cold temps might kill battery use life, and if there's a reliable fast charge or multi battery charger, that would be a plus. Just keep them inside and let them charge, swap out as needed.
Thank you for such a good review and test video! I have done a lot of research and definitely have had the EGO as what I want. I know they are pricey but I won’t have to pay anyone anymore so it will pay for itself😎 how I justify expense! They have quality and I guess that’s why the price tag?,?! Anyways thanks for your review! Good job👍👍👍
@goddesslynnmarieschwann6120 not at all. Its self propelled and also does a 360 turn simply buy pulling a trigger attached to the handle bata. They are awesome. I did a video last August on them. They have a 24 and a 28". The 28" comes with a few other bels and whistles like electronic shoot adjustments
No, Batt Toro 2 stages failed big time on last heavy deep wet snow in Ontario 1 week ago ! My neighbour just tested his brand new Batt Toro on this occasion, but failed! My 73 Ford Snow King rescued him out !
I just purchased this single stage blower for a little under $400. Haven't used it yet. Blower itself will cost 499 if you don't need the batteries if you already have other ego products.
Love ego products don’t have the snow blower or power shovel. The gripe I have is once the original batteries need to be replaced which is within a 5 year period they cost more than the tool itself depending on how many amp hours battery you want.
Just got an EGO two stage. Freakin awesome! Sooooo sweet. Walk over. Drop two batteries in and go. No mus no fus. First time was three inches of really wet snow. No problem. Even cleared the end of the driveway where the snow plow pushes the street snow. My gas one is for sale.
I love traditional single stage snowblowers since they have rubber paddles which scrape the sidewalk clean. And this pulls the machine along. But I’ve never seen a battery version which works like this, any idea why?
Every snow blower throws snow back at the operator LOL....that's where a tractor with a cab is nice LOL. I had a snow blower for my lawn tractor and it didn't seem to matter what way you had the chute pointed you got doused with snow.
Instead of dragging the snowblower backwards to the starting point, consider just turning around and coming back. That way you can get the job done twice as fast. I’ve never seen anybody only blow in one direction.
I’m sure Toro and Milwaukee have them beat in snow and lawn. Personally, I had a battery lawnmower and have switched back to gas aswell as snowblower. Batteries are too much and don’t last in charge duration or life longevity. In Canada, the batteries are very expensive aswell as just the tool. And customer service is also an issue here/no stock.
The only Ego machine I had was a self propelled 20" lawnmower...garbage was what it was, way too expensive, and never worked right, gave the mower away pretty much never again would I waste that kind of money on anything from Ego. The mower would randomly shut itself off without any warning lights to tell why, the self propel would randomly stop working....wasn't worth the money, and definitely not something I'd recommend.
I have the lawn mower and have been using it for 6 years. If mine shuts off it's usually because I have snagged one of those locking clips that lock the extending handle on a bush or shrub.
@@DanielleEmberley Mine shut off for no apparent reason on flat ground....so not sure if it was an electronics issue, or what but it wasn't being overloaded or overheated, at least I wouldn't think so, I was mowing a maintained yard...the self propel on it would randomly stop too, which made me think that it was something faulty in the control board somewhere....course getting Ego to do anything about it probably wouldn't have worked out, so I just sold it really cheap, basically here's the batteries and charger, and you get a half functional lawnmower as a bonus....sure wasn't worth the ridiculous $800 though.
@@wildbill23c Just thought I would mention my experience. I do find those latches associated with extending the handle have to be completely closed. As I rarely collapse the handle for storage I have been tempted to wrap tape around them so they do not open. For a random shutdown that's the first thing I check. If the latches open the slightest amount the lawnmower will shut down.
No thanks, I'll keep using my 45 year old Snowbuster 220 that's still going strong....5 years from now that overpriced battery monstrosity will be in the landfill 5.
I'm up in Marquette (~300 inches of snow per year) and have had their original one for 7 years. Not a single issue nor any sort of maintenance. I couldn't get a modern gas one that lasted more than 3-4 years without having some sort of major issue.
Same here! Had the original Ego two stage for 4 winters and it's more powerful than any gas blower I've had. My previous gas monstrosity rusted out and broke within three years. I need reliability, not landfill material. Facts don't care about your feelings... Or something like that, right? Willful ignorance I believe it's called. @@dcl97

Greatvideo, thanks. I have all Ego tools except for the snowblower. Very reliable and those big batteries keep your arms in shape :).
Glad you got your snow! Now,keep it for the rest of the Winter !!!❤! Thanks Clint!!!!!

Thanks for the awesome comment goddess! Yeah, Ego is definitely the way to go for OPE at the moment
Have a question I am 5’4” and want to buy the 2stage blower would it be to difficult for me in turning it around or does one just back up?

I went with the two stage when I saw complaints of stuck chutes.
too much plastic in cold weather Ithink great video
There’s something soothing about the sound of these snow removal machines! Will you be doing a giveaway of either of these?
Anything for my subscribers brother

@ agreed
I've been running my two 5AH batteries year-round since 2016. I've lost some capacity, but otherwise going strong.
@ speaking from first hand knowledge that’s a total exception. Hasn’t been the case for any person I personally know that uses the same battery.
Have not seen snow in NYC for years now. My OG Ego snowblower have not seen any actions. Lol
It's crazy right. This was the first snow here in two damn years 🤷♂️
Since the clearance is not adjustable will this scrape my new asphalt driveway or the sealant?

No thanks. I shall stick with my corded snow-blower I purchased for $100 at Canadian Tire 3 years ago thank you very much. It does the job well. 😎

I have a Honda tracked HS928 which ate my EGO blower and spit it out. I found that there was no comparison.
I went with the Greenworks 80v Pro snow shovel instead. Just saying. 😊
Hows it throw with the heavy stuff?
Thank you for your APPRECIATION to your subscribers 😢
Just put up a red cedar wood deck… do you think the shovel would tear up the deck? Another great video!
Na brother, it will be fine
Does it have a radio on it? Or a port to charge my phone? All that snow it was throwing was blowing right back at TRZ. That wasn't Nass like!!

Kinda hard considering I'm making a video for people to see the blades. Have to do things differently for video bro
Idk that I have a 14 car driveway, but i have a 550 foot driveway. Probably pretty close

"moist"?
So moist

Compared to my old gas oil mix Toro snow blower, this is junk
No noo You have to push always no thanks 😅 if is the both machine is Self-Propelled i can buy.. but not for now.
They have self propelled as well
I want to go back in time. I’ll take gas hogs any day.
From the look of it it don’t blow the snow 45’ ft come on now looks like barely 5 ft 🙄🙄🙄🙄
The more snow the further it will blow
