Hi dave, I feel that a slip is a slip !! We do fast food !! So that is a KFC for the bird. lol, keep up the good videos, can't wait to see the hh videos to come
When your flying difficult Quarry easy slips dont come often. So when they do you get an easy one you smile and know its a great confidence affirmation! nice video, much enjoyed from here in Saskatchewan Canada, home of sharp tailed grouse and wiite tailed Jack.
……nice Dave…and like you…as I age..I seem to get more sentimental about all things living! But it’s been going on for thousands of years…predator/prey relationships…..as long as we don’t change the numbers or the odds significantly…for either….we are just watching nature…just as she intended!! Great video…I really enjoyed that👍👍
All very nice, you need some flint and chalk on that land lol, those boots seemed heavy. The flight was just what Zeus wanted, he worked as hard as he needed to obtain his meal, we love all nature and it becomes a thoughtful process, the Eagle has no such obstacles. I think it was a quick well earned meal the Hare was well in the air and Zeus took his prize. Still we feel, it’s what has cemented humans together for thousands of years, natural nurturing, great video.
I believe its age related the older I get the more empathy I have for all living things. Still go out hunting but now prefer quality over multiple kills and really appreciate the social element with good friends. Sorry to hear about the fire - hope everyone is OK.
Hi Dave you are not soft, you realize that a golden eagle needs success in hunting but also prey, if it is successful it should live and pass on its DNA. I don't know if you did a success stat for Zeus. We assume that it will be about 40%. And that is very good. He would have less in nature.
While hunting with my Birds I always take in to consideration that if prey looses a chase its life ends where as my Hawk looses it still will get a feed later in the day. So believing in this I always try to stack the chase in the Prey's favour. I have never lost the love of the chase over the kill and like you believe in being as fair as I can while hunting I admire your sense of fairness and fair play towards your quarry. There is nothing soft about being ethical Dave. I wonder is there any chance in the future you might do a short video on trading off a kill. My 23 Female Harris's is very grippy on her kill, not nasty towards me but binds tight to her kill.
In a way, it seemed that it would have been almost cruel to Zeus, not letting him have a try, even though it was a short flight, he really powered into it, and really did catch that hare mid-jump...it's not always a long flight that's hard, maybe, the hare could have lots of energy, sure seemed fast enough. It is what it is, and what Zeus lives for.
Far better to be given a chance of escape, and on this occasion fail, and for Zeus to display his natural instinct, than to be run over by a vehicle. Today Zeus won in the struggle that is survival of the fittest, you are just an observer.
