In the Northwest Suburb of Chicago on 8-25-17, I share a special treat as we share a private tour with Elaine Silets, a woman known as “The Train Lady”.
Today she shares her “garden” model railroad with us today.
She has one of the most amazing / awesome G Scale / Gauge Model Railroad train layouts, and people come internationally to visit by appointment only, or when there is an open house for a charity event.
The layout tours through Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Every area on the layout is complete. The engines, cars, scenery on the layout are of the highest quality, and many items are custom and hand built.
This is just a wonderful experience to view.

I'm glad that we will have video record of our fellow humans who do creative things and carry on the tradition of inspiring others. A child could go their entire life and not witness a person like this and the extent of their passion for trains.

Just Beautiful 😍 great interview, but wish she had wore a microphone so we could hear her clearly and then just edit sound together with yours. She did such a nice job and is special because she also ties everything into something sentimental.

She was born with it!!! Every train lover will tell you that!!!. I was born in Dallas, Texas and my father and Mother decorated Stanly Marcus house on Park Ln. In Dallas, at Meadoebrook ln. I used to get to play with my matchbox cars on his living room floor in 1967. I started in O Guage, switched to H.O. ( ff to 2020) and just moved to a 3 acre lot( w/house) and am going to pit in G scale, then retire my other scales to the 4000' sq.ft. house I bought on the land. My family ( Kendall) were the pioneers in Fracking in Chickasha in 1927. I live very near there and am building the Karcher Kendall Siesmography oil field museum. It has 29 films about fracking and running an oil company in the 1920s. Brother James Kendall Moore OSB OFS OSC.
The Chickasha field was the first recorded use of fracking, my great uncle was head of oil field operations and making the explosives. Brother James Kendall Moore

Wonderful ! I have a passing interest in trains which I'm hoping not to pursue to it's inevitable time-consuming and expensive end. An impressive layout set in a beautiful garden. My wife said that I was crazy and it wouldn't work out side... Well she had the check book so she was right it wouldn't work unless I had the G scale trains.... I got the HO trains just because a lady's husband died young and she knew I loved trains and I got them ALL!!!!! And their still in tubs.....

I would like to know if they are battery or electric? Just started working with trains. To get over my brothers death. We played with trains as small children. So I collected engines. I cleaned them up fixed them. Most are ho. Others are o. But wanna do a garden railroad. Know nothing of them.

I dont think this lady had built all of this . She may have had someone to build it for her . I would be sure of that . I would even bet that she dont even maintain it . She most likely have that done also . I am not saying she did not over looked of the project . I would be sure of that . Just to make something like this would have taken years if you worked on it full time . The maintenance of it all would be a part time job in it self . Then we have to account for disassembly and assenbly each year and winter prep . It is a joy to see and vary nice . But I like to put credit is do . That would be the hire hands that did it all for her . It is nice to have money to wast as some people cant work or sustain them selves . We need to think of them first . We need to pray for them and prepare to fix the system . It may not be pleasant for most of us do help others but it is our job . No person should ever be left behind or live in squander .

@@loucostabile I am not talking about the lay out other than the engine and cars . Tracks can be clean all the time . A person still have to maintain and the upkeep .
