- We visited the Elsie G scale railroad about a year ago and made it back this year to run trains and hang out with friends. We had an excellent time and took TONS of great video. For those that don't know the Elsie G scale railroad is an outdoor elevated layout that you may recognize if you're a fan of Large Scale Consolidated Live. You can find the link to that episode below along with the link to the Large Scale Trains live stream I just did there last year. The railroads owner and our host Shawn Fields has put countless hours into getting the layout ready for our group of friends to get together and run trains. That is incorrect, I saw it (although not operating that day) a few months ago. Shawn the owner is currently planning to expand the layout.

Signals (other than the two signal bridges which are aristo) are made by shiloh and are controlled by azratrax control boards using IR block detectors.

Interesting to see the triple crown truck trailers riding on one set of bogies.... Is this real.. I mean in practicality.... Does it exist on us trains? If so can some one make a video and post it or tag me to an existing video?
I love this layout..
What you saw is indeed a real practice in railroading although a declining one. Typically referred to as "Road Railers" the trailers are specially constructed for this dual purpose.

Does this G gauge scale has the same effects as Lionel like the smokes the audio system and the details of the train just like the Lionel?
Where is this layout located it is a great layout. I’d like to know what kind of track they are using.
It's in the mountains of West Virginia. All the track I'd Aristo-Craft code 332 Stainless Steel.

How is the layout protected from the elements?
The layout itself sets there just as you see it 365 days a year. The locomotives and cars, of course, are put away when not running.
Where can I get the truck trailers?
Those are made by USA Trains
