Yo, could you have imagined the fucking reveal on that?! Instead of a buff, bespectacled blonde, we got an actual, genuine chimpanzee? I probably would have given the show a standing ovation and then died from laughter.
There are also scenes where Eren willingly doesn't kill his enemies. Levi almost kills zeke, but pieck saves him. Eren almost kills Annie but symapthizes with her. In season 4 he could have eaten porco, but keeps smashing him to the ground instead of eating him. He had enough strength to send Reiner flying in a single punch, but let him live for a strange reason. If eren had also eaten atleast porco in that scene, he would undoubtedly become more invincible than he already is. It's like Isayama is giving Eren's enemies another chance, since Eren would become too strong if he ate them.
After Montana’s recap. “Ok so she still doesn’t think coalossal and armored titan are people but at least she thinks the beast titan is…” Montana: “I think it’s a actual monkey. “ well ok then. Montana’s belief in people are good stands strong.
I was worried she might accidently spoil herself and figure things out too quickly. But after the Anne reveal I can't wait to see her reactions to the ensuing ones.
she's in denial. which is understandable to me since she's still at the point of the story where there's no reason for humans to destroy the last stronghold of humanities.

All of them are kinda obvious as far as clues go, but they are all so HORRIFIC that the average audience doesn't want their mind to go there. No one wants to KNOW the Beast Titan's identity. No one wants to COMPARE Armin and Erwin. ... Everyone wants to know more about Levi... But no one wants to know why Historia is the sole survivor. We are dragged, kicking and screaming, into every plot twist. (I realize that sounds weird,,, I'm saying the process of learning these twists are painful, not that we aren't curious about who the Beast Titan is...)

Omg I actually forgot about *that.* there will be so many horse deaths. Montana will be troughoutly traumatized by the end of the season. (and things only escalate further afterwards) I think she'll mourn the horses more than the soldiers during that one upcoming future scene.
And remember, all of this stuff with the Beast Titan is happening at essentially the same time that Eren is fighting Annie in the city. How compact the time is for these events is one of the craziest things to think about.

I’ve looked away from the tv before, but watching that dude die is the first time I had to get up out of the room to mentally recover. That was brutal 😳

I'd forgotten how insane the Beast Titan's reveal is on a first watch. Definitely one of my favorite titans in the show. Also 4:48 I have a friend who is quite similar to Montana, and they're a huge theater kid, so I've picked up on that vibe for a while now lol

this episode is absolutely amazing in setting up the rest of the show. looking back, s1 seems like a walk in the park, but s2 is where things get real. this episode introduces the mystery aspect even more, we meet the beast titan who's appearance in this episode implies so much about the titans and the world and creates so much mystery and is presented as a huge threat to the humans. on top of that you have wall rose breaking. if you've watched the anime before, you will know how vital this episode is to the plot. plus it is so refreshing for the show to ramp up the mystery aspect for the first episode audiences see after 4 years of waiting for s2. the beast titan in this episode is a huge turning point in the course of the show.
Note that the beast titan mentioned that humanity knows that "we reside in the nape" and how he says he was fairly certain that "we spoke the language." These are pretty telling quotes, but the beauty of AOT is that you still don't see what they mean really for a long time. Keep on theorizing.
I have a couple of non spoiler tips that came to mind the first time I watched. The Titans broke through the gates not in a random place in the wall. Church representatives were indignant when someone proposed the modernization of the walls because "the walls are to remain as they are". Beast titan said "I'm sure we speak the same language". It is practically a statement that there is more than one language. It may seem obvious ... but humanity only lives in one place. Local dialect yes, but other languages? Probably not.
I love the reactions so much but sometimes I'm like "omg! It's right there!" lol, like when he says "you know we reside in the nape" and Montana just ignore it 😭 needless to say I'm excited for her to get answers

I’m watching this show on my own before watching y’all’s reaction. When I saw the horse scene, I remember thinking “ohh Montana’s not going to like this”. Even when I took a long break from watching this show I still remembered that whole sequence with Miche quite clearly and it’s as horrifying as I remembered 🙃
why not watch it together with them ? never was interested in AOT but when kenny andd montana started reacting to it i watched with them, i refuse to watch the series by myself i will just wait for their episodes to come out.
I do enjoy their reactions, but you don’t get the full experience when you’re watching with them. They do, unfortunately, have to omit some things from the episodes in their reactions and it just isn’t the same.
I absolutely love how Montana got the musical connection between the openings and that she’s looking forward to hearing more (I mean who can blame her? It’s music from AOT for crying out loud😂). And for a band called “Linked Horizon”, it’s fitting to hear the influence of past openings/ songs to the new ones. She’s definitely gonna hear the influences from past openings when she gets to and hears the 2nd opening of Season 3. Also Montana’s 👁👄👁 to the Beast Titan speaking was pretty much everyone’s reaction, including mine 🤣

I remember i was watching this episode in my living room on my TV, my roommate came home with his sister and her kids, and i was "i'll finish in my room" but he said "it's just cartoons" so i went "OKAY then". Yeah, long story short, got nearly punched in the face.
Funnily enough, same guy asked me to show him what i was watching, and he became big fan of the show
