[MUGEN] Kazuma Kiryu Reveal Trailer

- Revive the Dragon of Dojima! Based primarily on the fighting system in Yakuza Kiwami, I tried to bring it to MUGEN with an attempt at a fairly source accurate control scheme and moveset. Kiwami was the only game in the Yakuza series I've played so far, so try not to judge me too harshly, but I also tried to fit in references to other Yakuza games I think were noteworthy.
Originally one of the many characters I've made specifically to be in the roster of Vargverse. Kazuma Kiryu ended up taking a lot more work because as I played through Yakuza Kiwami for research, I found more and more things about his fighting style I saw and thought "I should include that in the character." Eventually I decided to keep working on him as if he were just a standalone character and release him as-is upon completion.

I love that you need to leave up the Majima is everywhere bar in order to get into Dragon stance
I felt it was the only appropriate way to both include Majima as an assist and also to make the Dragon style feel more like a reward.

I love that the art of Project X Zone 2 is what's used for Kiryu

As much as I love Essence of Extreme Dragon, it isn't the same without the first 3 hits to the body before the "Dragon" "bites" the enemy.

In Y0, yes. Then in K1, it was renamed to that - without the three hits I mentioned.
Then for K2, they renamed it again this time to "Ultimate Essence" (I think).

Truly impeccable work on your Kiryu and his trailer, I can safely say anyone with decent knowledge on the series(be it any other sequel or just Kiwami) will see how faithful and original your take turned out you went through to be alongside fitting perfectly on a Fighting Game atmosphere, so it all should go easy on ya.

This is a pretty brilliant addition. I love the move set and all, and the extra reference where you gotta build up Majima meter to access the Dragon style.
This character is crazy accurate. I used him a few weeks back as a little test to see what he'd be like and it instantly felt familiar to me. I love how you needed to fill up the majima everywhere gauge to get the legend style because even though in kiwami you have it from the start, you need to do majima everywhere in order to get it back to it's original strength. The specials are a great touch as well. I especially like the special intros for some characters with the introduction text. The alternate costumes are also great.

There isn't. He sings it (among other karaoke songs from the series) when he wins a fight instead. The karaoke songs in the Yakuza series are way better than they have any right to be, and Baka Mitai is only one of them.

A character worth anyone's time, in my opinion.
Particularly, my favorite part is the gameplay style of four different fighting styles, making it particularly satisfying when you unlock the Dragon of Dojima mode.

I don't remember the song for this video too, its been a while since I even looked at Yakuza games, and seeing this sparked a fire and I really like this track, it slaps.
Yeah, the Komaki Training theme is a good one, and I found it fitting for what I needed for this video.
And the Knee Drop still looks epic as hell

I am extremely loving this. Kiryu feels fun to play, the heat actions are awesomely made (I love how Kiryu just stares at the player holding the firecracker) and then doing exactly what he does.
Though, I wanted to ask.. are the models from X-Zone? They look similar, though correct me if I'm wrong.
I love it! The only thing I don't like is the size. But that problem can be easily fixed in the settings.
I decided on the size he's at because keeping his sprites at the 1,1 scale made him look too short. When at 1,1 scale, he's a bit shorter than KFM, who I imagine is around average height. I wanted to reflect Kiryu being a big, intimidating guy, so I made him about the same height as Kenshiro (who he shares a lot of similarities with) from the HnK fighting game.

I liked Devil Killer because it sounded most like an attack move, for it to be a surprise to those who haven't played Yakuza before and didn't know what Pocket Circuit was.

A few questions

3: are you back to character releases?
And 4 (which is an obvious question): vargverse still in development?
1. Places. I've been busy with real life stuff which kept me from working on MUGEN and Vargverse. More on that in 4.
2. The sprites are from Project X Zone 2, which thankfully had a bunch of limbs and stuff for me to frankenstein in sprites for stuff I needed done.
3. Not really. Once again, more on that in 4.
4. Absolutely. I've actually been making a ton of characters specifically for Vargverse ever since March (I wonder why) as I had a ton more free time than I expected. I'm not planning on releasing said characters until Vargverse is completed, and then all those characters will be available as part of it. Kiryu is one such characters, but I ended up putting so much more work into him than I thought I would, I decided I might as well release him as a standalone character. There is another character I put a similar amount of effort into, but that one I plan to hold for Vargverse as to keep him a surprise.
