Having a thumbnail of Star Wars unlimited with the word DEAD over it and then talking about Star Wars xwing and armada is the definition of click bait. Super lame and disappointing from Chris.
Another YT posted some months ago about a event where there was a question asked about Armada and a cryptic answer was given for possible new content coming soon. This is a surprise.
HEXplore It! is definitely a potential lifestyle type game, but this won't be the "5th Edition", it will be the 5th Volume in the series. So basically it is similar basic gameplay ideas with various new setting, theme, mechanisms and characters. Whether it is "the one" a new player should buy isn't clear yet. Some of the volumes are more advanced and in the past a lot of people recommended starting with Volume 1 (The Valley of the Dead King). There are some great videos out there showing the gameplay of previous content if interested in learning more.
Having all the current Hexplore IT games each one is different then each other. I wouldn't say their life style games because they are Adventure games very similar to Witcher Old World. A game season only runs 1-2 hours because in each game their is villain that is also a timer for the game to end. Your basically trying to get achieve your goal to beat the villain before he/she achieves their goal. While all different they all have that basic premise of searching the map for encounters and quests to do, and while you probably don't need all of them, the appeal to get all of them is using the Race's and classes from one into another game.
I love boardgames but I'm increasingly getting bored with the sheer amount of cardboard being churned out daily. Most of them are just the same old tune packed differently.
Ive had problems with that company more than once, im currently trying to track down where my last order for a all in deluxe order, cost well over 200 yet no sign of it and they are ignoring my emails.
@@Boss-zo4lw So sorry to hear that. It is a good solo game, I have not tried co-op. Hopefully, they are responsive. Delivery of pledges is always stressful. In some cities, there are people following delivery track to steal packages from front doors 😥
0:43 For this part of the hobby, I would argue, tradition! A lot of the games - especially the Euro games (formerly known as "German-style games") came from there. Just look at Essen spiel - a lot of people look forward to it, just because of all the releases annually of all the new Euros for that year (even if they aren't as popular in the U.S.)
1:02 I would argue that there is the Kinderspiel - which is mainly for kids games (I understand that "kinder" means children in German - hence "kindergarten" - "children's garden", for example).
The "Spiel des Jahres" is meant to showcase the variety of boardgames for non gamers and make a recommendation where you could start if you want to get into board games outside of, say, Monopoly or Risk, since the late 1970s. They more recently added childrens and advanced level games to the list to broaden their recommendations, but the impetus is the same.
Publishers are notified before the nomination that they will be there because if they win, sales increase by 1000%. They have to have more time to place an order with the printing house (?) and of course take the risk of investment. PS. English is not my native language so I hope I wrote it understandably
I think prior notification of a spiel nomination is almost guaranteed. A nomination or win always results in a huge spike in sales and there is nothing worse than having that huge demand and the game being in between print runs or something like that. so I’m sure they’re notified so they can make sure that stock is going to be available.
I totally get the argument on CMON practices and their past controversies with shipping and so on. But damn their games are among our favorites due to their fun factor and simplicity. Are there better games? Totally. But CMON games table more often for us. I’ll be getting the dune game. I missed the first campaign but after all the reviews I’m convinced this game will resonate with me and my group. But am aware of the points being made on their business practices

legitimate views are tough

The phrase is “with a twist”
@@Ironhawx Yes boss!
Take Skytear Monoliths

Wow that sucks with the stealing tactic. I will say that Sky Tear is great solo and coop. Just played it with my brother in law and it was a blast
So:
Kinderspiel - Children game
Spiel (des Jahres) - Family game (of the year)
Kennerspiel - Connoisseur game
(I just looked up "kenner" in German).
Say what you will about CMON Dune, but it is a good game and at least they are doing a reprint.
THX CHRISTO THE TOP GAMEWAYTIME ALWAYYOU CHANELYOUINTHEGAME T🎉I
you almost got it, in german most of the time an S alone at word start is pronounced as sh (so Shpiel des Jahres, same as the word shard)
CMON and Awaken Realms have become way way too expensive.
I no longer look or play Awaken Realms games: too big, messy rule books. I gave them already too much cash.
Same feelings for me with Dune War for Arrakis..

They have added one and an upgrade pack of you bought the retail
I am the same, 190$ I will pass.

Yeah the expansions for Dune WfA aren't that impactful and the KS SGs kinda suck. Retail edition is fine.
Was wandering Tower your pick for game of the year in 2023 or 2024?

Thumbnail with the spiel logo, you got Heihachi Mishima vibes going on.
28:30 But... I'm watching this at 10pm. It's too late! 😭
Ra And Write is so random, but now I cannot help but be excited for it haha
The aggressiveness on the "have a great day" is much appreciated
Star Wars x-wing had really well done minis. Just the minis are worth it
What you thinking about the northgard? I really love xD
Unstoppable looks cool, but how do you not mess up those cards?

for me the dice tower awards are far more important and comprehensive than The spiel de jares awards
both awards are pretty meh
I go with the Liege awards! 😉

There an add on for the retail people on the page for $50.
I'm a hardcore solo gamer.....and I agree with you on 20 Strong. I went all-in (I'm a bit of a CTG fan), but I found it pretty flat.
Well, Star Wars died to me when Disney bought it.
The problem with x-wing and armada is that it was way too expensive. The miniatures did look good.
