I own the black dial versions of both models in 42mm. I disagree with your assessment of the older model, I think it still looks fantastic. It has quite a stark toolish look and yet is flamboyant with the oversize Arabics. I also miss the Breitling wings logo. The new model is more jewellery like with a lot of bling, but I think there is definitely room for both models in a collection.

Tried it on 4 times now in 42 and 44 and I love the watch in blue. I looks at my 2007 Aquaracer chronograph calibre 16 and it has a 44hr power reserve. That’s not progress by Brietling, it’s laziness at that price point. If they correct this aspect of the watch, I will re-consider as it really looks like a lovely summer watch.

A good review Chris. You already now how i feel about this new style. I'm enjoying the "Killer" Zodiac SeaWolf I purchased from you on Blk Fri. Had the SBGN005 on earlier but Lunar Pilot on now.

neat watch, but $4,500 for a watch with a 38 hour power reserve in 2023?!? Breitling living in 1990 technology? I'll wait until these go on sale below $3,000.

Can't help but notice the Omega SMP on your wrist, how does the SO compares to the SMP in your opinion? I was contemplating to get the white dial SMP on rubber strap when this SO came along. The SMP specs beats the SO hands down but the SO wears better on my 6.5" wrist and the rubber strap comes with a micro adjustment clasp and I agree the bezel action is top notch and better than the SMP IMO. My mind tells me the SMP but my heart leans towards the SO. If you can only choose 1, would you trade your SMP for the SO?

Love Little Treasury. Chris is a talented salesman. He buffed out scratches in my beautiful watch once. Not only do they have fantastic watches and jewelry, they provide superb service. Maryland is fortunate to have Little Treasury. They are a unique store. Really a wonderful place.

The old wings logo looked 2000's dawdy as did the oversized arabics of the old one. They hit it out of the park with this one, or maybe deep into the outfield with the movement but truth be told it's a solid movement with bidirectional winding. People talk about the power reserve but it's fine. To me this is a weekend watch so even if it has 80 hour power reserve, if you put it down on a Sunday night and pick it up again the following Saturday to wear, it's going to be flat if it's 38, 80 or even 120 hours. Doesn't matter. What matters is if your Monday to Friday watch has 70+ hours to get through the weekend - say a Tissot Powermatic or Chronergy Rolex. Weekend watch.... power reserve doesn't matter.
What matters is magnetism, and unfotunately the 2824 isn't amagnetic. But it's cool - I have a degauss thing which is cheap as chips off eBay.

This watch is a nice improvement from the previous model. Good to learn more about it. Breitling is on the move, but I think the 38 hour power reserve is behind the curve. ETA is a workhorse movement though. I’m wearing my GS Soko today, really enjoying that watch. For your watch, I’ll guess SBGJ259 green dial.

    • @Littletreasury
      @Littletreasury  2 года назад

Absolutely, it is a huge improvement and yes the power reserve needs to be fixed but I think that is in the works anyway. Nice guess, but the one that I chose is a bit less flashy (but very sophisticated)!

Great video, the comparison of bezel action was a perfect demonstration of the quality improvements made to the new model. Overall I think Breitling has done some good releases this year.
As for what I’m wearing, the US GS9 Club exclusive - SBGY023

I like the older model more. With its matte finish bezel and generally cleaner and more sporty look, there’s nothing else quite like it. Everything else is either too dressy (like the new model), or just looks like a submariner clone.

I really don't like the design of these- they could have put these updates on the previous gen, upped the PR to 70 and would have been perfect.
I'm thinking next of adding the previous gen 44 to my collection. Just like the pelagos 42 its a no nonsense tool diver, this new one btw looks toyish not the previous gen, the captive bezel was also better imo and the absurd water resitance. I see you have to sell and talk down the previous gen, but take away the clasp its a better watch

Seriously I think the older model is on most fronts a better watch. All the three hands are ugly as f*** on the new model.
The readability on the older model was way better and to make it worse the made some kind of inner ring (don't know the purpose for it). I don't like the shiny bezel and polished centerlinks either. The Superocean has gone from a robust very nice looking toolwatch to a kitschy piece of jewelery.
The (out-house) movement is cheaper then the previous one. They gone from 500m to 300m WR not that many people need that but it has to say something about the robustness of the watch. And then they dare to make the new model more expensive..!?🤔
Besides all of this I liked the Breitling-wings but thats personal. This new model is just a completely different watch and this kind of big changes only ruins a line. This is why for example a Submariner is so iconic: subtle improvements.
The only good thing about this watch is the on the fly adjustment of the clasp on the steel bracelet.

I went to the AD the other day, 40-42-46mm in stock picked up the the 42… put it down. To me it’s bloody awful. I actually felt that it came across and felt cheap, and I really dislike the sloped bracelet links… 👎

hands are too small in the new version, it looks cheap like a casio, or like those $200 old zodiac watches (they were great but not $7k great). Old one is so much nicer, but would concede bracelet is nicer in the new one. Reviewer hasn't handled the old one- its a steel insert, not aluminum. I handled them both- abit the old one was a 46mm PVD black dial version- that one is crazy big but this model is special, the new one has none of the alure, with the midget like jazz hands. I think this brand is failing, and the new CEO is not helping the brand- messing around with the logo, the look of the watches. Breitling has another new watch that came out, the movable bezel is not marked, even with the old one, I do not think they will hold value.

Hi, my intention was to tell you the truth, which I stand behind. The new one is better in every way objectively besides being more flashy and having an oddly proportioned dial which are both subjective.

@@Littletreasury This is a beautiful watch just like the Heritage; however, it was a design mistake not to extend the color dial to the bezel. Adding the white ring between the bezel and colored dial does not pass the eye test. This design mistake makes the dial appear much smaller in my humble opinion.

Shut up it hurt your finger and you’re wearing gloves. I own the older model 44 and it’s a much better looking watch and it doesn’t hurt your fingers turning it. Just read the reviews and you’ll see mostly everyone is commenting saying the older one looks better.
