I tried both of these in my local AD and hands down the old one is way better, looks and feels a lot better on the wrist just my opinion but Breitling have made a mistake here discontinuing the old model, anyway I went ahead and purchased the old model and couldn’t be happier
I have to dissagree, the old one is a to much of a Panerai copycat with no character of its own, the new one sits more flush on the wrist and has better finishing. But of course design is subjective but it certainly has more character and references from old Breitling, so overall a great move from Breitling but maybe they where to early, people get scared when a diver does not look like a Rolex or a Panerai.
I love the look, dial, case and lume of the older model. The new model looks like a watch that’s trying too hard to be… whatever it’s trying to be. The large marker on the minute had of the new model removes any chance of achieving symmetry making it look like a puzzle piece that does not fit. I can attest to the Breitling 17 that was equipped in a Superocean Steelfish I used to own, it was in fact a workhorse. Great video!
old one is better. picked one up in orange recently, i love the big numbers that pop. also, that winged B is classic, dont know why they got rid of that.
I think there stunning, I’ve got the 46mm in black but couldn’t make my mind up about the bracelet or the rubber so bought both, after a month with the bracelet I swapped over to the rubber and much prefer it now on the rubber. Gets loads of attention, the ceramic bezel really pops.
4:34 loved the part where he talked about the power reserve 🤣🤣. Convenient. Breitling seriously needs to do something about that movement. Otherwise, great comparison video. Arguably the best comparison video I've seen comparing the old and new. Old all the way.
Great video honestly they could have made new one part of its Heritage Capsule edition and kept previous gen with upgraded clasp and a matted Ceramic Bezel. I truly believe the new one is mediocre with SW200 Movement.
I've been lucky enough to pick up a couple of these models now (Kelly Slater Lt Ed - amazing!) and have to say they look and wear brilliant. Similar to the Omega Seamaster, you can wear with with a suit or shorts and it never looks out of place. And it's not in your face Breitling, or like any other designer watch thankfully. If you have the opportunity and disposable, pop one on your wrist and you'll not want to take it off. It's honestly so much better in the flesh. Stunning watch. Great video, fella. 😊👍
Yeah i have the Superocean II 44mm as well, I prefer it's look over both these later models. It has more of a professional tool watch look to it, the later models are much more dressy looking.
I still prefer the old one , I still didn't understand why they created square min hand on the new model , it's looks corny. I feel they combined the older model hands to the new it would be knock out
Love the old one, I have failed to understand what was breitling thinking when designed the model, the new super ocean will fail , you will hear it in business news
I disagree. I find the old one much more classy. And for some reason, even though the old model is based off a more modern design, I still feel it has a better vintage charm than the new model which is actually based off a vintage slow motion diver 😂. Watch people are weird, I know.
The old one looks like just another dive watch with a pattern seen in countless other watches. The new one has a unique signature type design and is in my opinion a lot more classy and versatile. I am eyeing the new black dial and bezel 46 mm . I love how Breitling used a white chapter ring to break up the dial and bezel. Nice touch!!
Old .. timeless! Breitling need to maintain the model stay classy, to maintain its identity (like speed master in omega or submariner in rolex) not a major change that made it super modern and lost its character 😫
It's funny I did the exact opposite. I was literally about to purchase the black pelagos 42, but ended up seeing the old SO 42 at the Breitling boutique. Last one in stock, and I knew if I didn't get it, I would miss my chance. I can always get the pelagos at a later time. I'm happy with my purchase. It's wears incredible.
That movement is pretty choppy for a several thousand dollar piece. And what's more, no date complications. Switzerland asks for way too much while giving barebones. I'll stick with Seiko.
The new one is way better .the numbers on the old look out of place.i really want the new one it goes well with any situation .brilliant .i was going to get a tudor until i seen this beauty.
The new one hands down. I had them both on at the same time and IMO there is no question the new one looks fresher on the wrist. The old one without the ceramic bezel looks dated and bland. Put them both on side by side and I think many will feel the same.

Old indeed better
Fully agree and can now be had for a bargain.

@@Gurra1980 well everyone has their own opinion I suppose, there is no accounting for taste.
The design inspiration of the new one technically makes it the old one.
The old one. 🧐😎
💪
New one looks cheep ... and not like breitling
@@shrevecrumplowBrietling used prices have tanked especially the previous superocean

I prefer the old one, it has large numerical dial, more versatile and the iconic wing anchor logo

The B logo is classic, and makes me think of the Bentley connection (Bentleys have Breitling clocks in the dash)

finally got to try one this week. The bezel has a great feel and I love the dial

Thank you for watching! Both are extremely attractive, it comes down to modern vs vintage (inspired).
@@shrevecrumplow what the heck is that reply? Just a copy paste?? Man you’ll sabotage your channel pulling that stuff. Don’t be a bot.

Thank you, you are right this is a very versatile watch whether you get either one!
I have the Superocean II and love it. So I’m a little biased here but I like the old version in your video.

The old one. Definitely.
I have the old one with a gold bezel and its a stunning watch, far, far better than the new version imo
lug to lug on the new model is around 47.5mm not 50mm as you stated. that's big difference.
All beautiful, however, i see the old model is better in design that stands the years. Can be worn anytime and always look good and never old.
Love them both.
The new one has the selita sw 200 movement no thanks, old one has the ETA 2824 I'll take that all day.
Love the old one, I have failed to understand what was breitling thinking when designed the model, the new super ocean will fail , you will hear it in business news
Did I see a black dial with yellow ring? Wow.
I like the 2010 Super Ocean, that's the one I have.😊
The old #1
it's the new one for me fam. the red superocean font on the dial
🔥🔥
The new one is so much more classy in my opinion, though I love vintage throwbacks in many things

New One!
The new one for me, I’ve just ordered a green/camouflage with metal bracelet 46mm 🇬🇧
New, copper w green ❤
Definitely the new one ❤
I prefer newer model but the price difference is too high with same movement
Old version rocks.
Old one for sure!
42 hours power reserve for a $4,000 watch is RIDICULOUS.
old one! blue 44
Yup! That's the one I own and wear daily. Blue 44 on rubber.
The old one shits all over the new one. I don`t know why they changed it.
New one 👍🤤
New yellow
The older model for sure
The new model looks like a Doxa
Looks great but an sw200. Come on, at the price point. Get with the program Breitling. Does look so nice who h is a shame
The old one by a mile!! New one looks like a toy.
Definitiv die alte, die neue hat leider keine Datumsanzeige.
Old one
Over 1,5 years in daily use - the new is king!
Only one winnerC don’t even need to bother saying which one it is, it’s so obvious 😂

New model is the best and will make the history of Breitling. I’m sure.
Well, you're wrong.

I like the Rolex Submariner
Congrats?
New one! Old one is from the douchey John Travolta cringe era of Breitling
The new one is horrible and looks cheaper than the outcoming one, I have both
If it’s that horrible why you buy it you numpty
Old
It gets worse and worse, all models, i don't understand why it's not obvious for brand itself
As a diver old is best..I own old..
the old one~!
Old, hands down.
