While Vayne mid is off-meta its probably the BEST pick considering your comp and enemy comp. If they pick ANYTHING else they will struggle immensly to actually kill the enemy team, and this only gets harder as the game goes on. Sivir is obviously known for her lack of damage, you have a chogath in the toplane, trundle jgl(which can shutdown 1 tank at most), and braum support. Vayne saved that draft.

I have to agree, i think it is a bit unfair for a group of champions to be in a state where they are assumed to be a mistake or joke pick. I'm MUCH more of a league player than a dota 2 player, but i do appreciate the idealogy of "if everything is broken, then everything is balanced" rather than league's clear hierarchy deeming some champions "unplayable" at higher levels of play.
To be honest I have yet to see a game where everyone is balanced and its exclusively based around skill. Fighting games, mmorpg's, shooters, card games, strategy games, RTS and most genres have clear ways to play and whats the most effective. In street fighter 5 the top 10 has been filled with the same characters and tournaments usually consists of atleast a couple Balrogs and Cammies. MMORPG usually has a dominant or dominant classes for both PVP and PVE, Shooters has certain weapons that are just way better than other weapons. Card games has certain decks that are dominant and most people roll and I could do the same with every genre. League is no exception.
