Have you seen the data on the pickup trucks the past year? Anything over $60K is sitting on lots.
Ford, GM, Stellantis have over 100 days of inventory sitting on lots that no one is buying. There are some 2022 Jeep/RAM's on lots still new and never sold.

@@ashishpatel350, the problem with used electric cars is that for people on a tight budget, the fear and possibility of having to replace the expensive battery that cost as much as a nice used ICE vehicle, is real. Electric cars as of right now are for people with disposable income, and as long as the sells of EVs continue to decline that is not going to change. Roman and his clan see the world through eyes I don't have. I am happy for them and appreciate the entertainment they provide and I watch, but their reality is not mine.

Hybrids and plug-in hybrids were always the logical choice between ICE and full EV simply because of the lack of charging infrastructure.

All of us who have PHEVs at work couldn't agree more since we can all charge daily at home. No need to hoard batteries for the extremely rare occasion I drive past the battery's range. Maybe 10% of the km I put on the car have been on the range extender, and nearly all of those are on road trips, same story with the dozen or so other PHEV owners I know. And with only 15k km on the range extender maintenance is nearly non-existent over the seven or so years I've owned it.
I can count on one hand how many times I have had to change the oil (I actually test it and use Red Line oils), and the water pump belt still looks brand new, not even any dry rot cracks in it like I get with my pickup from disuse. Spark plugs are iridium so they are good for over 100k km, same with the timing chain.

Hybrids are a pitiful alternative to ICE, gas only vehicles. A redundant aka dual powertrain vehicle....what a hybrid is...and the 100 computers to allow synergistic power delivery between two radically different powertrains, A profound waste of money and natural resources not to mention a Li-Ion battery in every vehicle which further disparages the planet creating such an environmental hazard nobody knows how to recycle efficiently. Consumer fuel savings pale to overall cost to manufacture a hybrid vehicle and long term maintenance and depreciation aren't close to worth it for the consumer but of course, above would require education which the public sourly lacks.

Extra cost up front, big depreciation, & 20% increased insurance premiums for EV are big enough reasons to say 'hard-pass'. Then there's the 500lb gorilla in the roof if that's not enough.... lack of range (exacerbated by local climates can be way worse than advertised short legs). At least with say, a German ICE car you could expect that with some maintenance the car could still quasi-reasonably be on the road 20-25 years down the line. How many 2024 model EVs will be on the road 20 years from now vs 2024 ICE cars? For the average Joe-bag-of-donuts consumer the #s do not add up to choosing an EV.

The residuals on cyber trucks will probably continue to get worse. Once the deposit holders have all converted or declined an early truck, you can expect Tesla to lower the MSRP. Which will hurt residuals. And will make others hesitant to buy something that has been dropping in value.
By late April, it was thought Tesla had produced 8k trucks. And TFL being 87k in line was offered a truck. Tesla makes a lot of cars, but their model s/x variants are low five figure production amounts, at a similar price point to where the truck might end up at. Compounded by it being available only in North America, production numbers might be closer to a niche vehicle.
While there are 2 million deposit holders, only a fraction will be converted. And the downward price pressure will ward off some of those that aren’t turned off by its polarizing image.

What are you missing since you asked? Let's put it this way. As an automotive engineer that knows way more about EV architecture than any youtube 'influencer', you are mixing way too many metaphors if you want a cohesive message.
Gasoline has 100 x's the energy density of a Lithium-Ion battery with current technology. A 1000+ lb Tesla 3 series battery does not scale to a 150 lb gas tank full of gas for any correlation in vehicle range whereby you have to wait in line 40 minutes to charge if you can even find an unoccupied charger out on the road. EV's cost more than gas car's. They depreciate more. And drum roll, they aren't more green. Tell it to 3rd world kids in slave labor in the Congo strip mining the land for cobalt in Li-Ion EV batteries with their life expectancy cut short. Electricity isn't provided by the tooth fairy. 70% of all electricity is derived by fossil fuel and coal.
EV's are heavy due to afore mentioned battery to gasoline weight difference.
The public is utterly clueless about EV's, climate and even green technology as they don't understand thermodynamics from the man on the moon.
So, yes, the public is slow to catch on but the narrative is slowly getting out there to even Joe six pack.
Is EV tech intransigent forever? No. Vinyl records, begot cassette tape players which were replaced by CD's which were replaced by digital sound stored on digital memory devices which now most people stream through a satellite. Technology moves forward and in fact exponentially based upon Moore's law. Battery tech will change, bending the arc of EV demand. But not in the imminent future. Society is in the stone age of EV technology just like gasoline cars were in the 1800's.
And lastly, a quick history lesson. Electric cars came before gas cars. The first crude electric carriages were invented in the late 1820s and 1830s. Practical, commercially available electric vehicles appeared during the 1890s. On the other hand, the first gasoline-powered automobile, designed by Karl Benz, was developed in 1885 and received a patent in 1862. Therefore, electric cars predate gas cars by several decades.
Why EV's gaining traction now due to the elephant in the room aka energy density deficit compared to gas car's? The advancement of Li-Ion battery technology narrowing the gap of energy storage. A long way to go.

But given its premium price and real world short range, I didn't want it to become a big paperweight because the throngs evacuating hogged up all the working chargers. Nor wanting to stop every 50 miles to charge because of range/charger availability. WIth ICE, I just throw some extra gas containers in the back or on the roof for just in case and can make it 500 miles before having to worry about a refuel.
Badly written but I hope you get my point.

I've seen a few Lyrics here, and Volvos, but I'm seeing more and more Volts and Toyota Primes charging in driveways too (don't know where all these Volts were hiding over the years!). Whenever Toyota gets the battery inventory to start making Sienna Primes with a >80 km EV range and the design language of the new Prius they can take my money! I have a Volt now with over 160k km on it and 90% battery life after seven years of daily driving it. I don't need to hoard batteries to daily drive emissions free.

First, hard disagree on the Lyriq design, love it from every angle.
Second, demand is growing, every car company's ev sales are up 50-70% or more. The demand is a Tesla problem, and it took longer to get a jump start than manufacturers thought, hence the dealership stack up. This benefits BMWs strategy in the short term, but maybe not so much in the medium to long term.

Current Cyber trucks being sold are foundation models which cost an additional $20,000 over the normal list price. So many earlier orders are being postponed while people wait for the normal cars or waiting for the RWD at $60k which is not being made for now. This is no different to Ford F150 lightning which in the beginning you could not buy the base models.
Tesla now making 1,000 Cyber trucks a week and they have been selling them since 7-8 months so he´s surprised to see 10 or so used ones for sale. I stopped watching after 5 minutes, it´s just more FUD.
In 2024 the Cyber truck will outsell all the Ford and GM electric pick up trucks combined and more importantly sell them at a profit. Ford losing $132k per truck, GM most probably more than that.

MISS: It’s not Miata light but my IONIQ 5 AWD is quicker, quieter and a much better ride fitting five than the Miata and honestly other heavier ICE vehicles you’ve reviewed. Narrow the brush and stay in the lines with weights and sales numbers. I don’t need the Porsche experience but it’s a HIT on the $51K I paid thanks in part to the $1K Gravity Gold Matte paint. It’s not for everyone like the N isn’t but unless it gets cheaper and plugs double in abundance with IONNA it’s not going to gain popularity. MISS/HIT: Cybertruck flipping has been going on for while and many have made a fast buck initially. Elon Musk´s genius totally missed the market. The Cyber Truck is too late and not even a ready product. There are much better products already present on the market from Rivian, Ford is the classic choice with very faithful customers, GM and short term also from Lucid will be a great Product too. It would have been a game changer 3 years ago. Now they are just late and weird. Design is always personal taste - I don´t like it at all, but again thats only me. I cannot see that the Cyber truck will be a sales success and the first indication show that clearly. I don't see it ever coming to my home market either - it's not compliant to security standards over here. You can see Elon already panicking firing hundreds of people - no qualms from his side here. Good to hear that the Lyric is a good product, about time for Cadillac coming back - and it will be present in Europe as well. I did not know that all EV Pick up producers got also so much stock on their lot not selling. Also thank you for the background regarding BMW - yes they are lately the most successful EV manufacturer in terms of growth. Overall I love to get George knowledge and informed opinion

The only problem is that they are severely unaffordable unless you finance into oblivion, but current interest rates are preventing most from doing so.
