People have been dying of drug overdoses for as long as I can remember, I’m 61, the underlying issue is people’s demand for drugs. If the demand continues the drugs will keep getting stronger and more dangerous as they have across my lifetime. We can blame China, cartels or whoever, but the fact is as long as there is such a huge demand in the US it will never end. I smoked marijuana in my younger days, but when Len Bias, look him up, died of a cocaine overdose in the late 80s I was done with drugs, it scared the hell out of me, it was reportedly the first time he tried it. How we stop the demand is for someone much smarter than me to figure out, but that’s the only solution, or legalize and regulate every drug. Happy New Year Andy and Ironclad!

You can’t stop the demand. Poor people will always need drugs. If a man works 20 hours day laying bricks. He’s going to want some form of chemical therapy. Prohibition never works. People need proper oversight and production. There a reason most of these substances grow naturally. It’s not a coincidence the human brain has specific receptors for these naturally occurring substances. It’s when it is forced underground that it becomes an epidemic. Unless we erase the wealth gap. Poor people will continue to need to get high. And rich people do as well just not at such high rates.

100 right. People need to stop blaming everything on someone else. Personal responsibility must return as a core concept in our culture.
Your "Freedom" doesn't give you the right to create chaos and problems for the rest of society.
Fentanyl is a symptom of our larger problem of looking for escapes from our everyday lives. America needs to focus on fixing America. That is hard and isn't just locking everyone up.
Read Marcus Aurelius. Be respectful. Do the work to make yourself and others better.

Yup that was after we had that great season in 86 we drafter Bias to replace Bird hypothetically and what two days later gone and then Reggie Lewis with the heart issue and I think Bias had that same issue but the drugs speed it up

      No.
Nor was Mexican heroin or cocaine.
You demand and someone somewhere will take your dollars.
If it isn't china or Mexico it will be Indians and Italians or Vietnamese and Scotsmen.
      It's the money.

Most of the precursor comes from North Korea, through Venezuela then to Mexico where it is synthesized into whateveramine. This is all being done through well established clandestine organizations between communist states that were solidified in the 1920s and 1950s during the Cold War. They are fronts for Beijing and Moscow.

The US has more strict laws than the CCCP. Maybe we could repeal some of our restrictive laws that are worse than a totalitarian communist country. The FDA could do their job labeling the drugs with useful information like ingredients and side effects. People that support individual liberties and rights and freedom in general should rationally support that idea

The government is currently treating illegals better than American citizens so what makes you think they would even search those crossing illegally?

Can't help but wonder how much of a presence alcohol of uncertified nature there is in the USA these days, almost 100 years after fda and atf. Legal supplies with reasonable taxes. But it's gotta be the addicts, they need to put the stuff down, pure or not. It would be a nonissue if the addicts were no longer there.
