One of the most important things in a game, is lore, the history of the world, so you can understand what happended, when it did, why it did, and what it then lead to. Some games don't need it (like Minecraft), but if you want to make a captivating gameworld, the lore must be good (it goes double for books)

I watched the Ghost in the shell movie some days ago..and it was Exactly the same car /nightclub from this game..it seems that CDPR got massive inspiration from Shirow`s work.
They've gone on record saying Deus Ex, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, amidst others have influenced their vision of the game(probably why Katanas are a class of weapons in the game) also I respect any Vagabond fan

As a recent resident of regular St Louis, I think it can be safely said that it's the first time East St Louis Illinois was ever depicted in a scifi future world. They have been on the cutting edge of murder and mayhem, so maybe that is ESTL. Did I see that classy Hustler club you can see from the Stan Musial bridge as Johnny Silverhands make an appearance?
Funny how I'm currently in the opposite track of mind compared to the current (as it seems) hivemind. It seems lots of old comments are expressing such high expectations or claiming a great game (that's not even out yet for their time). People might have qualified that as a bad echo chamber. I'd say the current one trashing the bad is worse. I didn't consume any trailer, teasers, lore or hype videos like these. I went in the game with a blank slate, perspective-wise, and currently enjoy the game, while recognizing the flaws (I do get bugs, but nothing game breaking, on pc). Anyway, these lore videos are very good. If there was a narrative book out there taking place in this universe, I'd dive in.

Also, that's not the point of the customization, it's a legitimate game mechanic via Rep system. NPC's react and treat you based on your appearance and attire just like in real life. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (which is also an immersive SIM) does this too.
Idea for VR, their are are militia that are able to hack into cybernetic enhanced humans by way of a VR online stealth hack. This allows them to control NPCs to sabotage, steal information or assassinate targets this would make for a great VR expansion for this universe.

If you visualize Night's facade as Thomas Shelby with cyberware and smoking a cigarette it makes it easier to imagine Night's story.
