I feel like a lot of reactors skip Yava and Awadama Fever for some reason. They both have Kami band openings and are two of the funner songs.
I agree, but I think it's probably mostly because we forget to suggest those songs, along with Syncopation, to the reactors. BABYMETAL has too many great songs! There are 50+ songs in my top 10 favorite BABYMETAL song list! LOL 🤘🦊🤘
I feel like Meta Taro might be the most overlooked song of their entire catalogue.

"YAVA!" or "yaba" or "yabai" means "dangerous" but here is used more like the expression "Oh, no!". They repeat the word "chigau" (different) a total of 43 times.
So, although the lyrics are open to interpretation, it seems to be about being, acting and, most important, being perceived as "different" in a culture where not looking and acting like everyone else is seen as weird (in a bad way). The word "chigau" means also "wrong" and saying it with the repeated hand gesture they do in front of the face means that something is not acceptable. So, all in all, it could be related to their own history, not being a "normal" band at all.
For some reason the ska metal works perfectly for me and I love that breakdown. One of my favorites without any doubt!

AJ Hartley (Professor BabyMetal) takes it a little further (and I'm paraphrasing). Moa and Yui/Momo say "it/that is the same" and Su says, "no, it's different" They insist, "no, it's the same", but Su replies, "something is different". But they stick to their guns and that's when we hear the many "Oh no's/wrongs". But in the end Su says flatly, "no, it's different, but that's Ok".
I see it as a song of accepting what is different.

Definitely, though I'm not a fan of this particular compilation that includes the newer performances. It really just kind of makes me sad because it highlights how much better it was with Yui when it comes to one of the most iconic choreographies.

I love this song because I love the SKA genre. YAVA fuses SKA and Metal. Very underrated song cos, not many reactors react to this. Some in the Metal community didn't even knew that the SKA genre existed unless you listen to No Doubt and other bands that play the SKA genre such as and I can list a few but I think there are fans who know better.

This tune was performed for the first time on 2015 Jun. 21st at Makuhari Messe, Chiba. Since then, it was tentatively called "Chigau". The Japanese title is "ヤバッ!" (= yaba!) and this word is sometimes jokingly written as "ヤヴァッ!" (= yava!).
The meaning of the lyrics is vague, obscure & ambiguous. This is the same old way of Japanese popular songs. If the singers are attractive enough, the fans can freely enjoy whatever fantasies they like with such vague lyrics. I don't think there is the true story and the lyric writer has hidden it, so I hope the listeners think freely what differs how from what.

The Audio from this compilation video was from Osaka Fox Festival in 2017. It the last time the East Kami Band was allowed to do an intro. The first guitarist was Mikio Fujioka who died in Jan 2018 from injuries from a fall a week earlier. He would add a lot of harmonics in the live versions. The East Kamis have not played with BM since the beginning of 2023. The West Kami that are touring with them now are American musicians. They are good, but not the East Kamis.

"Yava" is a song about not being afraid to be an individual and to be different .. something that can be a real challenge in JApanese culture . "Yava" sometimes "YABA" rough translates to "oh No!" :---: Raarararara rarara.

Mah man fall in a horrible live compilation mixing totally different eras, but at least you enjoy the song either way. There are some better live compilation out there of this to lure the YT algo such the one at "For The Fox God", with footage only from Five Fox Festival 2017, anyway i know this is from a stream a week ago and i hope you won't get this type of suggestions again.
