my struggle is mainly with ppl acting like Fey is special, while not being from the area for 20+ years! she forces it now and it/she sounds horrible.

I live in North East PA, have a bunch of extended family down in that suburb area, and I can say for a FACT that Tina sounds 100% like all three of my aunts.

Jimmy Fallon is on some kind of Career Welfare. He's obviously not talented at all... he can barely get through a line, and then pauses to pretend to break character, because that's his only move to get a laugh. And yet NBC keeps giving him work and writing him checks.

Tina Fey appeared upset with Jimmy Fallon. He definitely did not know his character for this bit. This could have been funny if it were Tina with Amy Poehler. I bet she was thinking that too.

i highly doubt she was thinking that. Jimmy and Tina worked together 6 yrs on the show and 4 of those 6 yrs they were 2 of the most successful weekend update anchor duos. She already knows how he is. and its the same dynamic they have always had. she loves him like a little brother.

The one thing that is amazing about Jimmy Fallon is that he always laughs at himself. Watching him almost break character and crack that smile where you know he's seconds away from possibly laughing out of character, is damn amazing.

None of you know the sort of predicament that Jimmy was under. Who's to say he had little time to prepare? And so what? He broke his character a bit? That was hilarious! Don't expect perfection on a live show. That's the beauty of SNL.

Tina is actually is from Philly. I'm from South Jersey and never could do the accent. The late great David Brenner was the best at it. I would laugh uncontrollably at his Philly characters.
South Jersey accent somehow sounds half Philly, half Southern. It's crazy. When I went to college at Rutgers in New Brunswick, people thought I was from Texas or something.

kipperfeast Okay, having to explain a joke is never funny, but here we go. Jimmy's character bringing the hoagies is not what's especially funny here. Yes, the hoagies are a nod to a stereotype of Philadelphia. What was funny was that Jimmy was saying "we brought you hoagies" to make up for the fact that he kept breaking character, something he is known for doing on SNL. I guess it's sort of an inside joke in a way. Whether or not you find it funny probably also has to do with whether or not you like Jimmy Fallon. I do, but I know a lot of people despise him with a deep and inexplicable passion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Born and raised in Philly and never heard a local call it a Cheesesteak SANDWICH. Just a cheesesteak. A cheesesteak is also a HOT sandwich where a Hoagie is a COLD lunch meat sandwich. Now there is a Cheesesteak Hoagie which is a Cheesesteak with Hoagie Toppings (lettuce, tomato, ect.) I know, minds blown.
