Around Christmas time the idea is to completely disguise who you are using anything and everything and go door to door asking “any mummer’s ‘lowed in?”. And the owner of the house is meant to be guessing who the person in the costume is. It is strange, I know 😂

My brother went to med school in Philly, and MAC was the one term he quickly adopted. I didn't think it was the local slang so much as it was a matter of the the abbreviation MAC being on most of the machines over there.
For that matter, there are probably people of a certain age who called them Versatellers, at least for a while. And I know many people my age still say "TiVo" when referring to any DVR. It's not slang, it's just what their particular machines were called.
