This comment feels nitpicky considering how great this interview is but I'm going to nitpick.
I appreciate the honesty regarding possible future threats to privacy if the owners change. I like that. He says there would be plenty of notice ahead of time for people to bail from the Service. However. If the service is being sold, providing this notification could significantly reduce the sale price. How and when they notified their users will probably be specified in the sales documents. They could be incentivized to not give users a ton of advance notice ahead of a sale.
Ultimately, you don't know what is going to happen in the future and you do your best to make decisions now. This is a common truth for every software and many non-software-based companies. There's nothing new here... But it seems disingenuous to not at least mention the financial incentives in the future could work.
