Let's not forget the 0ut of this world, guitar solo (both machine head & made in japan versions) in smoke on the water. My favourite part of the song. It's definitely one of the greatest rock song. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I 😅think Ritchie BLACKMORE and David gilmore are too of the dest guitarist in the world iam 81years old September 2024 time is 22:,2024 thanks for the music ❤❤❤❤❤
The version from Made in Japan is probably unique in the sense that the band at that time regarded it as just an album track , but the Japanese audience knew the song from the new album , but they were clapping out of time , so Blackmore corrected the riff. It only became a hit about a year later when US djs played on FM .
Everybody seems to forget that there are other musicians on that recording. Ian Paice is one of the top couple of rock drumers ever, Glover was a classic bassist who connected the drums and guitar, Lord ran a Hammond B3 through a Marshall and Gillan was one of the best rock vocalists ever. Plus lyrics by whomever... Gillian mainly, I guess.
Blackmore has a sixth sense when it comes to interviewers, he seems to know if an interviewer will be likely to fall for a little lie. And this reporter, in the video, swallowed it as a truth.
"Haunting" is right. All the best rock songs have a slightly melancholic edge - Smoke on the Water, Boys are Back in Town, Smells Like Teen Spirit... And fire is an eerie phenomenon when it's destructive. And if you look at Blackmore's face on the In Rock Mount Rushmore cover, he looks like the reincarnation of Beethoven!
I’d hate to have to interview Blackmore. It’s incredibly hard to know when he is or isn’t taking the piss, especially if he knows that interviewer isn’t a musician. That journalist was Richard Quest from CNN. Poor guy !
I can't believe people are still taking this serious, it's been debunked so often - he was TAKING THE PISS as he often does! If you want the origins for that riff, don't look for them in Germany, look in Brazil: ruclips.net/video/xokONwQUa6M/видео.html The Brazilian song 'Maria Moita' by Carlos Lyra was popular in Swinging London in the 60ies when for a short while Brazilian jazzy pop was all the rage. Ritchie was at that time a session guitarist for London producer Svengali Joe Meek. It must have left a lasting impression with him, he was always good at resurrecting other people's riffs years later So leave poor Ludwig out of it, or tell him to roll over! 🤣

From a deep deep deep complexity, you take out true pure simplicity, that’s ingenie, like Mozart did in his whole career, Ritchie is unique!
Smoke on the Water is the first song I learned on guitar, the year I started playing was 1974.
I miss the 1970s and 1980s.

regretably, story is much simpler- like most iconic riffs, smoke on the water is simply nicked...ruclips.net/video/ekGNq4OQD2Y/видео.html
I'll always remember my little blue haired granny who was a big polka fan knew Smoke on The Water the second she heard that riff.
It's not true. Listen to "Maria Moita" and you'll find "Smoke on the Water" inside.
