That’s so cute. My daughters name is Mariah, she’s 10 but when she was a baby an old lady in line at the dollar store in front of us asked me her name, I told her and she asked me about the song and if I named her that because of it lol.

I loved reading your story. Years ago I met a girl from Puerto Rico named Marayda. She had never heard the song before either. I was thrilled to introduce her to this wonderful song!
I'm happy that you had such a sweet introduction to the song Mariah. Sadly, as a young teen, I had to deal with age inappropriate innuendo thanks to the song with my name. Unfortunately, I was 5' 4" at the time too. At least that song, like the one with your name, turned out to be a classic. :)

For rain and wind and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire's Joe and

Oh now, Mariah blows the stars around
And sends the clouds a-flying
Mariah makes the mountain sounds
Like folks were up there dying

Mariah, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah

Now before I knew Mariah's name
And heard her wail and whining
I had a girl and she had me
And the sun was always shining
Oh, but then one day I left my girl
I left her far behind me
And now I'm lost, I'm oh so lost
Not even God can find me

Mmm, Mariah, oh, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah

Oh, out here they've got a name for rain
For wind and fire only
But when you're lost and all alone
There ain't no word but lonely
Oh yeah, and I'm a lost and lonely man
Without a star to guide me
Mariah, blow my love to me
I need my girl beside me

Mmm, Mariah, oh, Mariah
I'm lonely can't you see
