I guess I didn't know you had grown up LDS. Always enjoyed your videos & your straightforward approach to life... I'm still LDS, married for 35 years & still struggle with that need for connection. In Idaho in the 80s, there didn't seem to be another choice, but to marry & conform. Anyway... thx for this. I cried all the way through David's 2nd video. And Tom's been a great friend & counselor. You're a good man... thx for being real. ❤🙏

She did so much especially during the AIDS crisis!

Elton John - ok he came out late (he made multiple mistakes - was a drug addict etc) but once he sobered up he became a massive contributor to aids through his foundation). He came to the party late - he’s admitted that. Good on the guy for making up for lost time
He came out much earlier than most especially of someone of his status.

Your list of icons is not controversial at all. You provided a lot of insight into your choices. It's a shame David Archuleta felt the need to justify his orientation but he gave a beautiful statement.

You know, there has been Mark Miller, Tom Daley and Zach from adventures of Zach and B .... but your masculine, "non-sexual" truth about love is love is amazing. I keep saying we need to reproduce to save humanity, but equally, we need same sex partners to keep ourselves from the consequences of overpopulation, like creating our own extinction. Total agree. So why is it so hard for gay couples to adopt in certain areas? Too many people here already. Why make more?
it has been an emotional week for a variety of reasons. this video made me cry because of its positive content and strength of your personality in it. I am so glad you are able to be yourself, unlike when I was a teen in 1970s. I have never had that special someone for a variety of reasons. Peace be with you Joseph, you are a most amazing and caring man.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video and mentioning your icons. Their the people who bring a healthy and respected vision of the LGBTQ+ community. Although, I don’t see your new project being advertised therefore unable to join. I’m one that came out during the AIDS crisis and it was hard getting adjusted to the criticism and homophobia. Although I’m not sure if we as a society have moved more towards inclusivity in our fractured country. I personally was involved in the community as an aids personnel organization that provided testing and counseling opportunities for the LGBTQ community. I also got the chance to have meetings with parents in a safe place to talk about gay siblings and help them with bridging the gap between them. It was a great experience and a tragedy hearing the reasons for not accepting their own kids. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and icons please stay safe and healthy with admiration ❤️🏳️🌈🙋♂️

I wish brotherly love was far more about honor and nobility. On You Tube, there is a post called SOFT MERTHUR MOMENTS from the Merlin series, where Merlin and Arthur talk about their "friendship." That's the kinda vision I have about brotherly love.

You should watch Winter on Fire which is on Netflix but supposedly they have allowed it on RUclips and other platforms for free. It’s about Ukraine and their move away from Russia which helped lead to today. Very powerful. Tough watching with thinking about what they are going through now!

I remember when I came out back in the mid 90s everyone was talking about the golden girls. But the biggest thing that happened back in those days was Queer as Folk. It was the real deal. No more pretending with hidden messages. From what I hear Cinemax produced it in Toronto for a huge loss but they did it to honor the LGBTQ community. Your last two choices however are the best as those are personal level contacts. Everyone has their own heros but the ones that are intimate are the ones that are the best. Glad to hear you have them in your heart. Love and passion are great but are even better as seeds to the tree of love. Thank you for sharing and the hard work you did on creating this video.
And one 80s television show that just came to mind was Cagney and Lacey. Check it out. If that show didn't show what true love was. Kinda like Thelma and Louise.

I grew up in the 80's as did my husband. We are both 53 years old. I lost so many friends, and some of these guys died before reaching the age of 25. It was so difficult, because it felt like people in the government did not care. I am lucky that I graduated from high school in 1986, so we knew about safer sex practices, and how to keep your chances low of contracting the disease. I could easily have contracted HIV if I had been born just 5 years earlier, because people did not really know how it was transmitted then. I still feel blessed to have gotten through those times without getting infected, but I will never forget those friends that left us way too soon. I think about them all the time. My husband and I have now been together for 24 years, and we worry that young people do not realize that people still die of AIDS now. There are drugs to treat the virus, but if you do not get tested to know you have it, you can be positive and get sick quickly and die. Things are so much better now, but this fight is not over, and I wish everyone in this world would remember that!
