Hello. I am old and have Zero Idea how to do Instagram. 1 person that you have Never played was
My 1st guitar hero of the mid 1970s. His name was TOMMY BOLIN. He, sadly,
passed away in December of 1976 of a drug overdose. I was 17 and his death
Crushed My World for quite a While. I would LOVE to see/watch your reaction to
"Dreamer" Studio version off of the Album "Teaser". Also,
MY Favorite Tommy Bolin song is "Wild Dogs" also off of his 1st solo
album, "Teaser". Also, a Great jamm song off of his 2nd solo Album,
''Private Eyes'', is the track titled "Post Toastee". Everyone gets
to Show Off a Bit On "Post Toastee". IF you love songs with Great Dynamics
from slow, sparse, beautiful and melodic to- Boom, rocking out in a flash, and
then BOOM- right back to soft and mellow, then "Dreamer" is for you.
I would recommend the regular studio audio of all. Thank you. I Love watching
      your Reactions!

I never thought I would get to know the man that wrote the song. I told him thanks for bringing a little joy to her. He said he was just writing a song and never thought much about it. Always makes me think of my father, the difficult relationship we had throughout. I started to understand who he was, and WHY he was the way he was the last few months of his life. And then..... him being hospitalized with a broken arm, being dead two days later with massive bloodcloths in both lunges - his heart just giving up after a long life in the grip of alcohol..... I rue the lost moments, the loss of what could have been. A father and son, instead of over 20 years of abandonment and estrangement. Life. What a weird concept 🤔

My Dad was an alcoholic and very abusive when he was drunk. For my mental health I had to walk away. He passed away about 10 years later and I felt guilty for a long time that I hadn’t even tried to mend fences. One night I was listening to music very late - like 3am and this song came on. I just lost it, sobbing so hard I could barely breathe. Then I heard my Dad speak to me. He told me he was in a good place and I needed to let go and stop torturing myself. There was nothing but love. I was finally able to let go and move on. Watching this just now? Three bars into the song, I was in tears. The lyrics run so true. And if you’ve lost anyone without making amends like I did, cuts deep. I always loved this song and Silent Running. Hauntingly beautiful vocals by Paul Carrack.

I'm 68 years old and I still can't hear this without pulling out the tissues. I retired early so I could come home and spend some time with my Mom and Dad that I had not seen very much in the previous 30 years and I got to spend about 3 years with them before they both passed about 5 months a part about 3 years ago now. I love this video that features both a children's church choir and an adult choir. I also love the scenes in the video with Mike Rutherford, the guitarist, and his son, Tom. Mike is 70 years old now and little eight year old Tom is now 40. Mike has said that he's had so many folks write to him and thank him for this song because it opened their eyes and gave them the chance to have a relationship with their dad before it was too late. Though this song is over 30 years old it is still as relevant today as it was back in the late eighties when it was recorded. Thanks a bunch for playing music like this. I'm now a subscriber.

My father passed away on Aug 9, 1997, when I was 20. He battled PPMS, and lived in a VA hospital for the last 10 years of his life, though it wasn’t much of a life. The last words I said to him were, “I hate you”, on Aug 2, 1997. 25 years later, and it doesn’t get easier to carry that burden in my heart. I didn’t hate him. I never hated him. I didn’t understand why my own father had no idea who I was, and didn’t recognize me at all, after having spent the first years of my life with him as my hero. He was an amazing dad and very involved with us-myself, sibling and mom. Until he was wasn’t. Forgiving myself is a work in progress, and I hope that wherever he is, he knows I was angry at the disease and not at him.

This song is one of the most beautiful and hauntingly true stories that we've all lived. And the line, "I wasn't there that morning when my father passed away. I didn't get to tell him all the things I had to say. I think I caught his spirit later that same year, I'm sure I heard his echo in my baby's newborn tears" is one of the most beautiful verses ever to be put to music. If you liked this one, you should really listen and react to their other hit, Silent Running.

I’ve haven’t heard this song in years. Last time was probably when I was in my teens. I’m 52 now and a father twice over. So when I started watching this at work few minutes ago, Had to turn it off about halfway through. It takes on such a whole new meaning now that I’m older and my father is nearing his end and my kids are asking questions. Deep isn’t the half of it my man. My father had a cardiac arrest right in front of me 7 years ago. That Is how he found out he had cancer. He fully recovered from the heart attack. And I’ve had 7 years with him that I wouldn’t have had. The cancer hasn’t beat him yet. When he was in the hospital, we were told to say our goodbyes. My dad and I were always very close. But not that kind of close. Telling him how I felt about him for the first time was the absolute hardest thing I’ve ever done. But, the peace and fulfillment it brought…. Folks, if you have something you want to say, dig down in your heart and say it. Cause one day, it may be too late.

Not trying to start an argument but I'm one of the older generation and most of them are willing to show emotion, some may refuse to admit it but they're there. Sometimes you need to push a little but they'll come to the surface. Maybe not in front of people, you may have to wait and cut them from the herd, but you can usually get what you're after. It may not be a grand gesture, like a rib cracking hug, it may be as simple as a squeeze on the shoulder but check the eyes and you'll see what you're looking for.

Mike wrote a book named The Living Years, Mike Rutherford was in Genesis with Phil, he is the guitarist. Tell those you love to them, not just to others. I lived with my mom the last 5 years of her life, she lived to be 94. It was a blessing and we talked, laughed, cried, went shopping, and got used to be around each other. This kept her in her home and at her age it helped keep her mind clear and I could see she had what she needed and she was there for me. My mom just was a great poster person for loving all. Everyone has something good about them, sometimes no one has really listened to them, no matter how crazy, love brings out love. She died July 4th this year, she has gloriously been freed to God.

This song makes me think of the last time I saw my maternal grandmother. She was sick with a cold. And she was never one to lay on the couch. So it scared me a little bit. However, before we left I told her “I hope you feel better soon grandma. I’ll pray for you”. I definitely told her I loved her. I was 10 years old and she was only 57 years old when she died. The cold proved to be to hard on her heart even though she had a pacemaker. She had a heart attack a few hours later. They worked on her for two hours. I applaud the doctor and nurses who did their very best to revive her. She died and then was revived but in the end she just wasn’t strong enough. I miss her everyday. She’s been gone for 40 years this past May. I’m so glad the last thing I said to her was I love you. And this is why I say I love you, before the end of any conversations or outings and definitely at bedtime. This pandemic has made me realize that we really need to appreciate each other. This song always makes me cry. And no one other than Paul Carrack could have sung this song any better. Paul is so underrated. I’ve loved him since I first discovered Squeeze. Thank you Jamel.

The "you can listen as well as you hear" is so true. We all hear people we seldom listen.
I remember a guy who worked on the same floor as I did, we seldom talked beyond work. He mentioned they had to do end of life discussions for their mother.
I mentioned how when we went through the same thing with my father we all said no regrets, no second thoughts, we were making the right decision.
He later came to me and told me she passed and how what I said really helped him and his family.

I have always had a rather strained relationship with my family. I loved them and they me; however, it was hard to express it. Back in 2008, something in my soul told me to call my Dad and for once I did. My mother answered and just talked and talked until I finally was able to tell her that I really wanted to talk to Dad. The first thing I said when he took the phone was how much I loved him and thanked him for teaching me so much through and about life. What none of us knew was that the very next day he would die. My mother had fixed him a sandwich and went to the bedroom where he was sitting in his recliner watching a golf match only to find that he had passed. He had a smile on his face. The only thing my mother could talk about during the funeral was how I had called just the day before and what I had told him.

Mike Rutherford wrote this to help deal with losing his father (want to say the year before). It hots hard 'cuz I spent the last few years of my own father's life at odds with him and when he was gone I was full of regret and guilt for not being more open with him. It creeps up on me to this day.

B.A. Robertson was the primary writer with Rutherford contributing. By most accounts Rutherford and his father had a good relationship but the song still hits with the regrets. My dad and I were growing closer when he passed away and this song always takes me back.

A good friend of mine, when he heard this for the first time. He pulled over and cried. Then he went home grabbed his son. Took him to meet his Grand father for the first time and the first time he saw his dad since his son was born. It literally got him and his dad back together.

You really need to do "Tempted" by Squeeze, you keep dancing around Paul Carrack with stuff like this and "How Long" by Ace!

I never knew my dad and its my mother I think of when I hear this song.
I stopped going to see her for the last 2 yrs of her life. My sisters came and told me one day, mom has cancer, they say she only has a few weeks to live and you need to come home. 3 weeks later I was just arriving back home from my moms to get a change of cloths... and my sister called to tell me not to rush, she died after you left. I never forgave her in those 3 weeks like I know she wanted and nearly every day I regret it. Don't leave it that way if you can help yourself.
Hurt it another one like this by Christina Aguilera . It was playing on the radio when we were going through her things...
Don't let it go. Even if its just for yourself.
    God bless all.

My father abused me badly. When he died I took great pleasure pissing on his grave. This song to me means other people who didn't say what they felt regret it. I wish I could have had that rather than hate.

    This *IS* a deep one.
I lived a distance from my Dad & now more than ever this song hits so hard.
All of his other children were there so he didn't go alone but he just couldn't hold on for me to get there.
We all have our problems through the years & we mended fences several years before his passing, thankfully.
    Beautiful but deep! ❤️💔

I've always loved this song. It always brings tears to my eyes because I remember the relationship with my natural father (or lack thereof). When he was in the hospital he was showing everyone pictures of my daughter saying, "This is my granddaughter," when he could have met her and talked to her. She never got to meet him.

This song still gives me chills. is a powerful message, one that should be heeded before it's too late. It's never too soon either. My husband passed 2yrs ago this past 4th of July. I'd known him since we were both 12 yrs. old. Luckily I know hes in peace. Great Job. Rock On! Peace.

This was one of my dad's fave songs back in the day. Sadly, he is no longer with us, and so everytime I hear this song, I shed a little tear.
