I love the way Michael took Kobe under his wing, and respected Kobe's game and Kobe's work ethic and their similarities. Because typically, Michael would dig his heels in and view anyone who challenged him as a threat. And Michael would turn his power up to the 11th degree to eradicate the threat (like he did with the Pistons, Knick's, Pacers etc). But I'm glad that Michael saw in Kobe not a threat --- but a younger brother to be tutored and shaped and molded into a second version of himself. And the game was all the better for it. (Who better to take advice from than a guy with a perfect record in the NBA Finals???) MJ-AIR-23-😎🐐 ♾️💯

Kobe played during the slowest era, team score & possessions, in NBA history. Kobe would have averaged 40 ppg in the 80's or today. Let me put things in prospective for you. When MJ averaged 37 ppg, the Lowest scoring team in the league averaged just under 104 ppg. When Kobe averaged 35 ppg, there was only ONE team that averaged more than 102 ppg. MJ is the best I have ever seen and I grew up watching Magic and Larry. If you don't take into consideration the era they played in compared to other eras....Wilt is the best player ever and it's not even close. Trust me on this, if MJ and Kobe met each other in their prime, only MJ's legacy would be taking a HUGE hit considering he is the GOAT. Just saying.

Over the years, as a Jordan die hard fan, I have gained a lot more admiration and respect for Kobe Bryant. Yes, he was flamboyant, sometimes arrogant, but most of the time a true student of the sport, one of the greatest players in the history of basketball, and a passionate competitor. A winner in his own right, a product of talent and great work ethic, a legend made bigger by his contributions on and off the court. He may not be my idol, but he will forever be one of my favorite players. He may not be Michael Jordan, but he has earned and deserved every thing, and he will be forever be a legend of the sport, the one and only Kobe Bryant.
You Cannot overstate the impact for someone with Kobe’s raw skill, IQ, determination + Being mentored by the GOAT..
Even when he’s just talking about MJ, you start getting emotional because you know he isn’t here any more. Such a tragic loss.

Whenever in high school when Kobe passed away I straight up got almost teary eyed whenever he was brought up in conversations, but was able to fight it away. He's been a MAJOR influence on me and to my work ethic towards my passion in life even though it's not basketball. I didn't know him personally and only knew the version of him we saw on screen, but that shit hurt like a bitch.

I wouldn't say MJ was lucky, but just like Jordan said his 91 year, he wasn't lying. 91-92 Jordan was better than any bball player ever. Kobe did what we all tried. Be like Mike. I remember the year he was wearing Jordan's, I knew he was definitely that dude. Jordan is my GOAT, but Kobe gets the ultimate respect.

Never cared for Kobe (a lifelong Celtics fan here), but damn he was a talented individual. Not only that, but he was also a steadfast student of the game. It's his drive, intellect, talent, determination, and skill all wrapped into one person that set him apart from most all other players. I'll always admire his want to know everything about the game he loved.

Also being a Bird fan...I was much more into team basketball rather than the 1-on-1 ball Kobe played in his early career. But looking at his entire career, he matured into one of the greatest we've seen. And beyond that, it seems like also matured into one hell of a Man. Gotta respect that.
I was such a dedicated MJ fan…I mean the man was my idol. I couldn’t like Kobe because he was the heir apparent and seemed to be on that meteoritic rise to equal/best Jordan. I just couldn’t. But looking back I realize I didn’t like him because he was just that damn good.
I love that he described him as a mentor! So many stories of people who played with Kobe who say the same thing about him. A true quality of great people is they ALWAYS help others they are in it for the collective growth and not singular success.
