You need to have a lot of cover within ur tank, it’ll help bring back their numbers. I had a tank with 100+ red cherry shrimp and I put my betta in there for population control lol. He basically would take out the huge ones that couldn’t hide in time. Or the weak ones. But having lots of plant cover and shrimp also allowed me to keep two males in my tank along w neon tetras. Both males lived for about 4 years until I killed them on accident due to sudden change in temperature in one of my water changes. In regards to Mystery Snails, I WOULD STAAAAY AWAY. Those fuckers reproduce so quickly. SO ONLY GET ONE per tank. I would stick with Nerite only snails if you want multiple/need because they only reproduce in brackish water and you don’t have to clean out snails every week.
I just got a brand new betta for my 5gl my other 2 would terrize the snails but I acclimated the shrimp first let him get used to his new home first then added the betta in and it's working so far
This is actually possible but at the same time be careful because bettas sometimes do not need tank mates. This is cause they will be agressive towards others. Some bettas are actually friendly so if you know your betta is a softie get some tank mates😊
I think nerite snails are safer bets than mystery snails. Nerite snails have a lot less vulnerable parts open for attack, so a betta that might strike a few times won’t be able to hurt it. My boy was kinda aggressive towards the snails at first, but he mellowed out once he realized they basically couldn’t perceive him.
I have 3 spiny marsh snails, they spend the day cleaning under the substrate and then at night when the lights are off, they go nuts cleaning the top substrate and walls of the tank.
@@alexxandra- if you have a heavily planted tank, it is impossible and arduous to go through that effort. And that is false and makes no sense, they lay eggs like everywhere in the tank especially in the most hidden areas of your tank. Why create work for yourself when you could have something better?
aw my beta likes her snail friends.. well i assume they don’t interact 🤣but all betas r different. She’s in a 10 gallon just her and 2 mystery snails and all live plants
Small tanks you want snails Medium tanks I’d go with shrimp but make sure you have a good amount of foliage and hiding spots Big tanks you can get 1-2 bristlenose or clown plecos. Do not get a big species of Pleco or you will most likely say goodbye to your betta if the pleco outgrows it. Also don’t get any fin biters like guppy’s or your betta will suffer or maybe even die.
The tetras and the barb and the occulitis thingy all need higher flowing water than the betta who needs slow moving water. One of the others will die from the environment
Is it okay if I keep my two bristlenose catfish with my two female bettas? I have a few live plants in the tank, Anubias, Amazon swords, and, some other plant I think I forgot the name but I know it’s fine for the all the fish that I have in the tank (Anubias is attached on a big piece of driftwood in the center of the tank) and considering getting more plants eventually, so there’s a fair amount of spaces to create space if needed already. also tips are appreciated
Have you tried seeing if the two female betas get along? with enough space and enough plants to break their line of sight it will be fine. Also depends on how much space they have
Used to have otocinclus and mystery snails with my betta, snails did so good I had to sell the eggs but the first otocinclus jumped out, second got it's fine bit off, 3 got back half eaten and 4 had to get scraped off side of tank
For people with experience in keeping bettas with Chilli rasboras, is it ok to have a female betta with ten Chilli rasboras in a ten gallon tank? (It has Amazon sword Java fern along with the floater plants salvinia, red root floaters, Frogbit, dwarf water lettuce) my main concern isn’t filtration, since I have two sponge filters and the many live plants, but my main concern is if most bettas are ok with Chilli rasboras, even if they have more of an aggressive personality, or should I just keep the Chilli rasboras alone?
Mine are doing great together! I got my cleanup crew of corys, mystery snail, and cherry shrimp established before I added my betta. Everyone seems to be doing great together!
Mine ate the 10 of the 12 neons on the first night! He was fine for hours during the day with them when acclimating the and once released for hours. Zero flaring. Zero chasing That same night I woke up to a nearly empty tank. 😕
Idk as personal experience I’ve tried three times adding 15 cherry shrimps in my 20gallon tank with betta fish only and all of them will get eaten so I don’t know if they are really good tank mates 😅
i have otos in my tank with my betta! cal (the betta, we have 5 otos so we don't have names for them) rarely trys to even nip them, just scares them sometimes!
Great question. Not impossible, but I wouldn’t say they’re the top choice. Here’s my take on it: ruclips.net/video/HL8n03qC9Ck/видео.htmlsi=ml-14H8QHNirQgXC
I wouldn’t recommend guppies as they like to stay in the higher parts of the tank, as well do bettas, and bettas are territorial and will attack guppies. Not only this but guppies also tend to be vibrant and look like bettas to other bettas. If you want tankmates for your betta tetras are the best way to go as they stay closer to the bottom of the tank and out of the bettas way and territory.
Maybe a candidate, but I’d proceed with caution, especially the male guppies. The long colorful fins might look like another male betta, triggering aggression.
@@ExplodingOxI just got 4 tetras in a one gallon. Would it be better to keep them in that tank or should I buy a few more and add them to the 5 gallon with my betta?
@@jasonmarshall4522at is very abuse lol you need a bigger tank. Neon tetras will grow up to two inches in my experience. The rule is for every inch your fish is you need at least one gallon and you also need to remember to factor their future growth into the gallons. In your case you’ll need at least a 15-20 gallon tank. It’s also WAAAAY less maintenance the bigger the tank you go.

2or8 years

This is actually possible but at the same time be careful because bettas sometimes do not need tank mates. This is cause they will be agressive towards others. Some bettas are actually friendly so if you know your betta is a softie get some tank mates😊
Tank size, fin size, and number of plants along with individual personality all matters. Add Betta last.

Nerite is better if you want multiple snails. The mystery snails reproduce very quickly and can turn into a pest

@@raudi.audirs mystery snails only reproduce if you let them. They lay red eggs outside of the tank like on the lid that you can remove.

My betta would eat those cherry shrimps 😭
Nope nope nope exept in a big ass community tank
And my betta still punches the snails on the walls with his head

Yup yup yup. Your tank obviously has no plants or other cover lmao. And you got stuck with an unfriendly betta
Depends on the betta. Mine does great in a 20 gallon long with 4 guppies and 10 green neons.
Also ghost shrimp cause the betta would have harder time to see it
I have 5 ghost shrimp and my betta is their leader they duck around too much
I wouldent do that anyways

You definitely can’t go wrong with snails! 🐌
Bristlenose Plecos are the best on this list 10/10 recommend
Nope for the neon tetras. They bullied my male bettas (kept at separate times) so much that 1 of them died and i had to put the other one to sleep xx
Zebra danios and pearl danios are great too.
can they survive even without aeration?
Are glo tetras good tank mates with bettas?
What about milky fish or molly
⚠️ loaches and snails CANNOT live together. Loaches #1 food are snails
But not all betta fish want to share space with other fish..
Very true 👍

Chili Rasboras are good tank mates for bettas! 👍
I think normally it is four to six mid water fish in 10 gallon with Betta. Since chilis are small maybe 8 at most?
Huh how did you add shrimp with beta?
No don't add... Betta will kill shrimp

What is cherry shrimp doing in this list.
Oh. Do you mean top that tank mates which can be substituted for snacks?
I have 3 neon tetras as tank mates for my betta, my boys get along well!
please get more Neon tetras. they are schooling fish and need at least 10 fish in the tank

I wouldn’t do tetras tbh because they are fin nippers

Why not galaxy rasbora (danio margaritatus) or emerald dwarf rasbora (danio erythromicron)?
Awesome suggestions. Love it! 👍
but neon tetras are fin nippers?
A short fin Betta may be fine
What's about Clown fish 🐠???
Clown fish would defaintley kill the beta clown fish are very territorial and so are betas so they would defaintley fight
i have a betta fish with a mystery snail
how about guppies?????????
Get Nerite Snails I heard that their eggs don't hatch in freshwater tanks.
Love nerites! 👍
What about plattys? This beat is hot 🔥
i have otos in my tank with my betta! cal (the betta, we have 5 otos so we don't have names for them) rarely trys to even nip them, just scares them sometimes!
He xhooses his mates less attractive..very intelligent
My bristlenose pleco attacked my betta and had to be separated….

My cousin has the neon ones
My betta ate one of the tetra I placed in its tank 😢😢
Theres way more then just these 10,
But I agree with a of them.
There’s definitely more. Wish I could’ve added more!
I dont know but my neon tetra ate his food but then my betta was angry bc he ate one pellet what was for tetras what
Betta don't need them
Wait...are guppies still ok?!?
Would not recommend guppys, they like to nip, and bettas can become aggressive, if it works for you though ig its fine

Guppies ?
guppys?
