When the Boston marathon bombing happened and the cops started swarming into Charlestown I distinctly remember a reporter saying “Oh man if this guy really went to go hide out in Charlestown he better hope the cops find him first” That pretty much says it all

He is still alive. I'm a close friend of his son. I remember as a kid I split my leg open and ran into his house to get help. I was talking to his son when John come walking in and said get the F out of my house go bleed to death outside. Lmao he was best
I feel you there brother. The guy who brought me thru and was a father figure to me was a known hit man. But he was never anything else but an absolute gentleman both to me and my mum. Everyone knew what he did and were scared to death of him. But he taught me pretty much everything I know and I still live by his rules to this day. He was the first person to send flowers when my mum died. It ain't the guy spouting off in the bar you watch out for, it's the quiet guy minding his own business at the end of the bar you need to worry about.

My grandfather grew up on Lexington St. in Charlestown in the early 1900's. Before he settled down as a family man in Malden, he was a hoodlum, lol. He and his crew got pinched at least once that we know of, for burglary. There's a photo of him and his buddies from that time and they looked the part. The suits, the hats, the snarls. Everything but Tommy guns lol. He cleaned up his act and raised 6 kids. He died when I was 7, so my memories are scant. I just remember he was gruff. The stories my father told us about him painted a bigger picture, and it was mostly unpleasant. He grew up hard in Charlestown and it never really left him, until he left the world. A few years ago I went through the Charlestown house and I was lucky enough to meet a lot of townies in the AA meetings they were all so welcoming and I fit right in even though most of them were 20 years older than me. They were all very friendly and helpful. It was during that year that I realized how easily I could have gotten into the same thing some of them were involved in. Everyone knows everyone and if you're in with a certain group than you're most likely going to get involved in the same thing. I met a few guys from the town movie. Both played decent role in it. I also met some guys who had done 15-20 or more years for being involved in robberies and other crimes. It was cool to see a bunch of guys who changed their lives and were legitimately happy and genuinely trying to help the next generation and next person struggling with alcoholism or addiction. I live a town over now I definitely need to go back and see how everyone is doing. Another great video!! Thanks bro..keep bringing the 🔥

Excellent video! Thank you for your work! In 1998 I was in Worcester and the hotel people told us to absolutely NOT leave the hotel and walk around at night! It was scary stuff for this Midwest boy. Even with a name like Sean Patrick McNally! 😅
Thanks for the tip on “Prince of Thieves” book! Great read. I also had to laugh in one of your videos where you mentioned Rte. 1 Saugus. I flashed back to the Hilltop restaurant where they you call you out to a room. “The smith party to the Kansas city room!”😅
You did a great job with this video. I like how you present history but inject it with your personality. You have good visuals, and are surprisingly well-researched. Got a subscriber out of me. Hey Jason, I'm born and raised in Woburn and currently live in Billerica and I love seeing a local guy tell these stories. Keep up the great work bro and I'm looking forward to more stories like this 👍
You needed to have Danny Woods on this. He was a family friend growing up. He was a the consultant on the film and actually made an appearance as a cop in it too. He was a big time bank and Armored truck robber back in the 80's n 90's. I could've connected you to his daughter since he's passed away.
An Irish immigrant that made it out of Dublin to the decent west of the Americas🇺🇸 Banged many a board from Boston, mostly bartenders & BJJ brawlers... in fact 2 out of 4 of Mad Dog Matt Siegel's daughters have swallowed My Irish glory🍀🎁 This was a lovely video- well produced, educational & entertaining🎬 Well done & thank you for sharing🏆 Boston has the best brick building in the world-now that some weight🌎
Excellent video. That was some fascinating history, very well explained Jason. I transported the disabled in and out of Charleston back in the late 90's early 2000"s. on the RIDE It was a beautiful part of Boston back then just beginning to become gentrified. When I saw some tough scrappy Irish kid trying to take his brother's head off with a bat in a project, I knew this was no place to fool around. No one would bother you as long as you minded your own business and just did your job. Thank you !
I spent a few days locked up with a Townie...he was looking at taking a plea to only get 15 years for armed robberies..blah blah....he actually brought his paperwork to show his creds in LUDLOW!!!! Anyone who has been to Ludlow in the past 20 years is laughing. His greatest moment was meeting Anthony Shea, dude was so proud CHICOPEE
Charlestown is definitely different from when I was growing up there until 2000… still have family and some friends but it’s not like it once was. Still absolutely love it and call it home
Love the video! History is most important part of any story. Also, since I was a kid I have been infatuated with Boston! Don’t know why. I love the accent, love the Celtics and Sox. The buildings and architecture, that I’ve seen pictures of, is beautiful! Keep doing your thing.
Your videos are very informative my dude. My uncle was a longshoreman there for decades. My cousin has been clamming there since the 90s. Great video and great channel content! ☘️
JT!!!!!!!!!!! Nice job Fella!!! Loving the History of C/Twn. I remember driving down to the Bunker Hill Projects across from Newtown and buying $10 Pinnahs of Angel Dust. Ya blaze one of them toothpick J/Bahs and after every hit you take, you could actually feel brain cells sizzling up like the old “ This is your brain on drugs commercial with 2 eggs frying up in a pan”. Then it would take ya a half hour to get outta the car and walk 10 feet to the Store for something to drink. And hey…..Bonus, the main ingredient in Angel Dust is Formeldahide (or however it’s spelled) which is the embalming fluid that gets squirted into the Dearly Departed prior to the Viewing at a Wake. Nice huh??? No wonder I’m Nuckin Futz Kid!!!! Haaaaah!!! Keep ‘Em coming Brutha Love!!! 😝😝😝😝😝
Hey Jason, keep doing the history!! I feel the history of these Mass towns is fascinating I can’t get enough. I’m a Worcester kid myself, CHL was my home away from home lol not since 2017 thank god. Love this channel keep it up my dude
Delivering around here every Sunday doesn’t seem too bad . Maybe there’s bad everywhere and people over exaggerate certain stories … or maybe we don’t see the bad side .
The history aspect is on point ! Your accent makes it authentic not fake or embellished. Even though I am NYer I know New England well , I loved old school bean town (not so much nowadays). I guess I like the gritty city mind your business dayz of the past . I’m glad to have experienced the 80s and 90s .

Now nearly 3 years sobah and just moved on from my sober living situation i can say im progressing in my life and could only hope to someday do something that youre doing chasing your passion.
That’s what’s up my man thank you and congratulations on your journey 3 years is amazing God bless brother 🙏💯
Excellent video! Thank you for your work! In 1998 I was in Worcester and the hotel people told us to absolutely NOT leave the hotel and walk around at night! It was scary stuff for this Midwest boy. Even with a name like Sean Patrick McNally! 😅
Amazing job Jason! Great history of the Town!
Thanks Glen appreciate that brother 🙏
Thanks for the tip on “Prince of Thieves” book! Great read. I also had to laugh in one of your videos where you mentioned Rte. 1 Saugus. I flashed back to the Hilltop restaurant where they you call you out to a room. “The smith party to the Kansas city room!”😅
I loved that place we would go there on special occasions and my mom would take me up to the meat market next door when I was a kid
I enjoy the history. Appreciate the videos fam
Appreciate the comment 🙏💯
You did a great job with this video. I like how you present history but inject it with your personality. You have good visuals, and are surprisingly well-researched. Got a subscriber out of me. I love it when the algorithm gets it right and recommends a smaller creator that legit knows what they're doing. Respect.
Nice brother thank you for the kind comment and welcome to the channel 💯🙏
Great job Jay, getting better every time 💯
Thanks bro appreciate that 🔥🔥 that’s cool to hear 💯💯

Hey Jason, I'm born and raised in Woburn and currently live in Billerica and I love seeing a local guy tell these stories. Keep up the great work bro and I'm looking forward to more stories like this 👍
You needed to have Danny Woods on this. He was a family friend growing up. He was a the consultant on the film and actually made an appearance as a cop in it too. He was a big time bank and Armored truck robber back in the 80's n 90's. I could've connected you to his daughter since he's passed away.
I appreciate that RIP🙏🙏
The "New kid on the block" he was "boy banding" by day and robbing banks by night? He was hangin' tough
Danny was good people.
In their late 20s my two oldest brothers strapped on the pads one more time and played for the Townies.
@@williamrogers9004 haha...we always busted his balls for having the same name.
Awesome video man. Love your stuff
Excellent video and the history was great and go Bruins
Thank you !!! 🔥🔥💯
Watching from Kildare, Ireland. Very interesting video. Love boston. Love the movie. 🇮🇪🇺🇸
Thanks brother 🔥🙏🇮🇪
The irony of the first ad that popped up being US Bank is legendary.
That’s hilarious!!💯🤣
An Irish immigrant that made it out of Dublin to the decent west of the Americas🇺🇸 Banged many a board from Boston, mostly bartenders & BJJ brawlers... in fact 2 out of 4 of Mad Dog Matt Siegel's daughters have swallowed My Irish glory🍀🎁 This was a lovely video- well produced, educational & entertaining🎬 Well done & thank you for sharing🏆 Boston has the best brick building in the world-now that some weight🌎

Outstanding video as always, thank you for continually producing a high quality product.
My man I appreciate that 🙏💯 I’m trying my best starting to get a little better 🙏
This. This is the video I've been waiting for. Fuck yes.
Nice!!!🔥🔥🔥🔝🔝🚀🚀💯💯
Excellent video. That was some fascinating history, very well explained Jason. I transported the disabled in and out of Charleston back in the late 90's early 2000"s. on the RIDE It was a beautiful part of Boston back then just beginning to become gentrified. When I saw some tough scrappy Irish kid trying to take his brother's head off with a bat in a project, I knew this was no place to fool around. No one would bother you as long as you minded your own business and just did your job. Thank you !
Thank you for the comment much appreciated brother 🙏💯
I spent a few days locked up with a Townie...he was looking at taking a plea to only get 15 years for armed robberies..blah blah....he actually brought his paperwork to show his creds in LUDLOW!!!! Anyone who has been to Ludlow in the past 20 years is laughing. His greatest moment was meeting Anthony Shea, dude was so proud

Charlestown is definitely different from when I was growing up there until 2000… still have family and some friends but it’s not like it once was. Still absolutely love it and call it home
I knew that about Mishawaum . That was good journalism J.. I didn’t k ow what it meant though. Now I do thanks to you
I was wondering that in my head when I made it if you did or not😊 thanks bro I appreciate the love !! C TOWN 617☘️☘️
Love the video! History is most important part of any story. Also, since I was a kid I have been infatuated with Boston! Don’t know why. I love the accent, love the Celtics and Sox. The buildings and architecture, that I’ve seen pictures of, is beautiful! Keep doing your thing.
Thank you very much 🙏💯
East coast cities have some wild history man not enougn people talking about it keep it up!
Yeah they do!! Thanks bro
Pretty accurate depiction of being in dust 🤣🤣 yeah they dip them in embalming fluid 🤮
Great video man, love the history as well as the crime element. Keep it up!
Thanks brother I appreciate that

Thanks brother I appreciate that 💯💯
Delivering around here every Sunday doesn’t seem too bad . Maybe there’s bad everywhere and people over exaggerate certain stories … or maybe we don’t see the bad side .
It’s not a bad neighborhood anymore
Great job Jason per usual.🔥💯 Shout out all my Townies! ☘️ From East Cambridge
Yo B!! Thanks brother appreciate you!! Your new video is poppin bro good stuff!!!🔥💯
👌👍
👍👍🔥🔥💯
Very neat presentation, you made me feel like I was part of the town myself. Thanks man good job
The town is gone - your likely to get mugged by a hedge fund manager these days - the true “robbers” 😂
Very true
The history aspect is on point ! Your accent makes it authentic not fake or embellished. Even though I am NYer
I know New England well , I loved old school bean town (not so much nowadays). I guess I like the gritty city mind your business dayz of the past . I’m glad to have experienced the 80s and 90s .
Me too !!! So grateful to have been a kid during that time period
You skipped the mescaline and angel dust days. lol
I talk about dust I just called it sherm I wasn’t sure what to say because of RUclips🤷🏻
Mesc . 3 bucks a hit 😊
Spanish Harlem Had the good D. Miss those days
Sorry for the late comment, Brother, but this was absolutely one of your best videos YET!!!!
NOBODY could cover the "No name gangs" other than YOU, Jason! 🍀
It’s all good my brother you’re an OG of the channel comment at will 💯💯💯🔥
@ and always will be a follower till the wheels fall off, brother! 🙏
Man, the native people must have had an ominous trepidation when realizing these scot irish barbarians from the "old world" came along and started breeding with their maidens. I mean, eventually I got here, and I'm a rambling wreck of a species. Muskogee, Choctaw and said genetics, with a fine dose of old english thrown in for good measure. Piss on a mile, We were here First.....
Great Story Jason Can’t wait to hear more about Townies You Did Great
🔥🔥💯 thanks bro!!!
really good video. my dad is from southie. got into big problems in the late 60's. Did 5 years in Walpole. he never gave me details, but almost certainly ran with Hill. couldn't really work independently then. haha. great job on the video, guy.
Appreciate that brother

Im from the US decoddecks8738, Yet, my grandfather(McClintock)was Donegal & my grandma(Coleman) was from Tyrone. I saw you mention you were from Donegal and thought it was interesting to hear Donegal.
Dude, I love the historical aspect of this video. That’s I was thinking that the whole beginning because I caught a few of your videos over the years and I thought it would be like the normal stuff but this historical part is awesome. Should do it more often.
Yeah I was doing more historical stuff probably going to go back to it its what i really love
