Use a micro perm pen on the sticky notes and they don’t smear at all

Also, for those of you looking for travel washi ideas, I totally recommend using playing cards (though you can get these longer plastic washi card organizers from Amazon 50/$15) and storing in a Jam Studio Sticker Album or similar. You just wind the washi around the card. You can have several washi tapes and it lays flat for greater capacity. I also always have one in my purse/wallet just in case I need to stick something. You would be surprised how many times my washi card holder came in super handy.
If you prefer little rolls, Kokuyo makes a system of tiny bobbins you can load your washi on. They can click together so they're more organized and they even have a cutter you can load the bobbin into. I've never owned one, but they do exist. 😂
