I’m in the market for a Fuji camera, and after so many glowing reports and videos, I appreciated some of the reservations expressed here. Also the fact you are open about the fact that coming from a Sony user perspective you may not be as familiar with the Fuji as you’d like. I would like to say in critique, some of us interested in having physical controls for shutter, ISO and so forth may prefer this approach not simply for retro and lifestyle camera designs, but rather simply prefer this approach to controlling the camera.
Very nice video but there are several errors on your video which I want to point out to you and the viewers. Focus breathing is generated by the lens and only the lens. No camera generates focus breathing. Comparing the X-S10 with the X-T30ii is a huge difference. The X-T30ii is way better for video production. The IBIS on the X-S10 is very wobbly and unusable many times on the X-S10. For quick family videos.. it is ok but not for anything else. An extremely underrated lens that goes very well with the X-T30ii is the XC 15-45mm lens. It is made for video in mind and it has OIS. The OIS when enabled is sufficient to stabilize the X-T30ii. Anything more, I would get a $300 gimbal which will out perform any IBIS out there. Which means that for $1200 (including gimbal) you have a very flexible camera suitable for all occasions. Even the X-T4 or even the new X-H2S does not out perform the X-T30ii with gimbal with their IBIS. No camera does. Now let's talk about video quality between the X-S10 vs X-T30ii. The X-S10 can only record video at 200mbps max and can only support SD Cards Type 1, it does not support UHDii cards. The X-T30ii can record video at 200mbps and supports UHDii SD cards. BIG difference for video production. Hope this helps. Cheers 🍻.
Hey! Thanks for the correction. Little update though X-S10 can record 200mbps internally and IBIS is really ok. However I totally agree that using gimbal is the best solution anyways and OIS system in Fuji lenses is doing awesome job.
Hello Dr Richard, fancy meeting you here again lol. Quick question; with the XT30II can you 'store' filmsim recipes like you can with the XT4? I'm imagining you can, perhaps not 7 slots or something?
@@SummersSnaps honestly, I'm not sure. I can't remember if you can. I do remember that on the X-T20 you had limited capabilities. You could save them but you could not rename them. But on the X-T30ii, I just simply don't remember. I will check though and post the update here later.
Amazing post I also recently got the X-T30ii over the XS-10 because I preferred the smaller retro design. Mines came with the XC 15-45mm lens and it’s great light weight lens for beginners. Now I’m trying to decide what’s my first prime lens should be.
The focusing issue is rather called "focus hunting", "focus breathing" just makes your focal length shorter - let's say you have a 70-200 mm lens, but the max length isn´t 200mm, but only 150mm effectively due to the focusing moves inside the lens....
@@JacekSopotnicki Although the X-S10 is not better than the X-T30ii, in this case it is. Why? Believe it or not, the camera that makes you feel better is the camera that will motivate you more to go out and shoot. A motivated photographer will always produce better content than one that is not motivated.
@@CharlezRichard very true, I have fallen out of love with photography lately due to my Canon 5d mark ii because it's so damn big and I never feel the urge to lug it around lately. this is why I am seriously considering the X-T30 ii.
Definitely, it's a great retro vibe/fun camera and it's very different from Sony. A6700 is very reliable, and great for professional use. X-T30II is great for personal projects and slower types of photography, paired with small manual or AF lens (like TTArtisians) is a great 'refreshment'
I wanted to reach out to you for your expertise in cameras as I am in need of a recommendation. I work as an insurance surveyor in the Maldives, specializing in property damage assessments, particularly related to fire incidents and weather damages. During my surveys, I heavily rely on capturing pictures and videos, which play a crucial role in assessing the extent of damages. I require a camera that can provide exceptional image and video clarity, allowing me to capture detailed information without the need for extensive editing, as it is not permitted in my line of work. Considering the hot and humid climate in the Maldives, I also need a camera that can perform well in such conditions. Additionally, there are occasions when I have to take pictures and videos in low-light areas, so low-light performance is important to me. Apart from work-related purposes, I also intend to use the camera for personal use. I frequently travel for both work and leisure, and I would like to capture high-quality pictures and videos for personal enjoyment, occasionally applying edits to enhance their appeal. Currently, I am using a GoPro, which does not meet my requirements. My budget for a new camera is around $1000, but I am open to slight adjustments if necessary. I must admit that my knowledge of cameras is quite limited. Terms like lenses, MM, mirrorless, and various other technicalities can be overwhelming for me.Given my lack of expertise, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations you may have regarding the camera itself, as well as any additional equipment I may need. I would genuinely appreciate your guidance in selecting a camera that fulfills my professional and personal needs. I have been researching for months, but I am yet to reach a conclusion. Your expertise would be immensely helpful in making an informed decision. Thank you so much for your time and assistance. I eagerly await your valuable suggestion.
@@JacekSopotnicki thanks, while my previous reply about to get this one weeks ago, now I am owning this model, silver in color and I am loving it. Good upgrade from my X-T200.

Thank you for this Review. For Someone who havent got any camera yet, would you suggest Sony a6400 or Xt30 II for travelling with family? Thank you very much.
I have used the xt30 for 3 years now and I do a lot of people shoots. Stuff like family / friend gatherings, event interactions, running kids, badminton etc. Face focus for badminton is a bit hard but I have been able to get great shots without difficulty for the other situations. I would advise sticking with Fuji as you have a more complete and cheaper lens line up than Sony, plus the shooting experience is very intuitive. Lenses wise, start with the 18-55 and get the 55-200. The 18-55 is very sharp but compact and will be your everlasting buddy even when you have dabbled in primes. The 55-200 is the same as the 18-55 - very sharp but compact and bokeh is very nice too. I use it for lots of people close ups to great effect. I would also recommend getting an external flash. It is superb in providing proper lightning in overlooked situations such as a home dinner or an outdoor selfie.
I use an older Fuji X-T2 camera. I shoot family and friends an have no problem with the auto focus. I would think the newer X-T30II should be much better. It has the same auto focus and processor as the latest flag ship X-T4. It does have advanced auto focus features that you need to understand.
Can someone give me advice? I never had a chance to use a Fuji camera but always loved the idea of having one. I am a Professional food photographer and I would like to have another camera as a backup camera for professional work and same time for fun for travel. Who had a chance to use the Fujifilm X-T30 II camera for professional work, in general, can you use this as a professional tool for food photography? I do not talk about super complicated studio products high-class food photoshoots for big brands I am talking about food photography in restaurants for social media posts for the restaurant Menu for portfolio.
I decided to buy the XT30 II after weeks of consideration as my very first camera and your video helped so much! May I ask which lens you would advise for the start? The camera comes in two "Kits", one with the XC 15-45 mm lens and one with the 18-55mm. I would love to use the camera for my upcoming trip to England to shoot villages, houses, streets, churches, the beach. As I am just starting, I don't want to switch lenses all the time. I was recommended to go with the 18-55mm (but they did not have the kit with the 15-45mm in stock :-)). Do you think the 15-45mm would be ok to start or would I never forgive myself afterwards for missing the "better" option 18-55mm? Or would you recommend any other lens over the two mentioned above? Any advise would be so much appreciated! Thank you!
Do you recommend this for automatic modes only? I dont know anything about setting photography parameters so Im looking for something that can be easy to use and that can deliver great both photos and videos in automatic mode, mainly because i have a vacation trip so I want better videos and photos than a smatphone
Hi! To people who bought this camera: What do you think of the zoom? Is it fine for bird photography? I broke my mom's 30X zoom camera and I'm searching a good combination of big zoom + compact model. (English is not my first language, I hope the question is clear enough 😅).
Interesting, thinking of the same thing. Cheapest lens kit I manage to find at my local dealers. Please do let me know of this combination as well. Coming from a beginner who is just into the film simulations of Fujifilm
The 15-45 is actually pretty alright as a part of the kit since you're not paying full price on the lens but just know that it is focus-by-wire. It is compact, light and decently sharp; it will serve you well until you invest in an XF zoom or prime. If you wanted to, you could sell the XC15-45 for full price right after buying the kit and you could make a few dollars towards a lens you already have your eyes on, i.e., used XF 35mm f1.4.
