I believe there’s an additional charge for riding the Pokémon train with a JR Pass! I used the JR East Pass (Tohoku) - and the Pokémon train is free for this pass.

My grandsons loved this. I wouldn't mind going back to Japan again as a civilian. I was in Sasebo and Nagasaki in 1969 and 1971 with the US Navy.

Hello. Just wondering if the reservation is for both way of travel (ichinoseki to kesennuma and back to Ichinoseki) or just one way?
I only did one way travel, but you can reserve for both ways! Just visit a JR East Travel Service Center and they can help you with it…
