woah. Now we are starting to get there. actual Pocket sized PC. Being that it's x86 and really power hungry i agree. Not really a competitor. But cool none the less. I love how far we've come with minimizing computer parts. Thought. The expenses on it still has me sitting with a big huge dekstop with multiple fans blowing on a level that makes me really enjoy my noise cancelling headphones. But those days where you pull out your SBC and just have a week or 2 of enjoyment of not just silence but retro nostalgia. Nothing beats that in my opinion. Plus you can feel all the dads in the world pat you on your head for going with the most power friendly choice. Even if it is just for a brief moment. _(if you do candle lights and shut of all the electrical lights in the house you can actually feel a double pat)_

Its good to see how computers evolved that a power supply (power brick) became twice the size of a computer

I'm glad that you bought up the price early on, as this is highly relevant in this case and allows the viewer to see the demonstrations in a more realistic light.
Impressive yes but I can't help wonder whether it would hold up in terms of performance to similar priced mini PC's.
Right now, I'm not swayed because what I saw didn't seem as far away from much lower cost hardware as I would have hoped/expected from a first view perspective.

Lee: another great video, but please don’t show this to your insurance person ….😂😂😂!
That BMX game reminds me of the face plants while my buddies and me were jumping our Stingray bike back in the day…😢!
That is a nice board but I think I will go for either a Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally for gaming. I can see the board in Automotive and industrial applications, but would go with the new Minis-forum mini 7040 computers so I wouldn’t have to add a case, or listen to the turbine wine while using the computer. I had enough of fan noise in the summer in Tucson, Arizona even with the AC going…😮!
    Have a great day!

Single channel memory surely lowers gaming performance.
For 99,99% of us average Joes this obviously doesn't make any sense, with tons of cool tech available for the price, including cheap yet more powerful post-leasing ultrabooks, or thin clients, past-gen gaming laptops, mini-PCs, x86 gaming handhelds and so on, and so on :D
I wonder what kind of devices are built with this, as compared to other SBCs it doesn't focus on low power draw at all.

    • @johnhunt1725
      @johnhunt1725 11 месяцев назад

It doesn't focus on low power draw, because it's x86. If you want to focus on low power draw, you need to use a RISC CPU.

Nice board, and AMD usually have good Linux drivers also, but their (DFI) homepage was not the best. Very confusing to know what you order :) it says 4-8GB ram, but I dont see any option to chose memory size, nor do I see any description of what the board you have selected in the shop has.......

    Faster than a RP5? I think you should do a Dolphin head-to-head!
ETAPrime seemed to be getting the same or better on Auto Modellista (on RP5)

Auto Modilista - Try the Japanese version. They stuffed the handling for export thinking the original game was too easy. Original plays MUCH better for me. This board is neat but $ ...

it runs x 86 software.....not x 64 :) unless you mean 64bit software butpretty much all x86 processors run 64 bit these days

Windows recognises the cpu as X64. I usually refer to X86 as the much older systems like my compaq

For the same amount of money, you can buy a Ryzen based laptop that blows this thing away. This SBC has very limited practical uses. Definitely a niche industrial product.

As the second vid on this product I was hoping there would be a link with prices, but after showing the price early doors, then I think there's no point watching further if the only way you can get one of these without selling a kidney or buying 10000 of them. Cheers leeps, but I'm out at 4:11

Unless this thing has some sort of special hardware attributes (ie - maybe it can survive a super hot environment like a car, being out in the sun, bulletproof, resistant to radiation, etc), there is just nothing appealing about this thing lol. It’s got no interesting I/O ports, not very powerful, not a lot of storage, and kind of expensive.

There will never be an x86 based SBC that will even come close to competing with ARM based SBCs in the performance per watt metric, which is really where they get most of their practicality from. They are all about high performance at a low power draw, and x86 simply cannot compete with ARM (or any other RISC ISA for that matter) in that department and never will.
