Good lord. Just got one of these the other day that is similar. Mine has a socket type connection and no threads. 28 years in the house and never did this. I have 22 foot run. It was like packed in wool! Now the humidity build up in the house is less and the dryer will work more efficiently. What a cloud and pile of hair, lint, dryer sheets. Unbelievable. I'll be doing this yearly now.
