Penny was a hof talent, the best player out of that list. Penny's injuries some of it was his fault. He got injured in the 96 playoffs against Detroit in the first round. Joe Dumars accidentally slammed his knee on Penny's left leg. (Google Penny Haradaway Joe Dumars injury). Hardaway didn't play for the rest of the series against Detroit, but Detroit still got swept 3-0. Penny exacerbated the injury on his left knee by playing against the Hawks and then the Bulls, and then playing in the Olympics during the summer of 96. So when training camp started for the 96-97 season, his injury flared up and he missed 28 games and had to have surgery. The problem was 28 games wasn't enough for a full recovery, so he was playing injured the entire 96-97 season which further worsened his injury. In 97-98 his knee broke down because of his foolish decision to play injured the previous season and he missed the entire 97-98 season, well except for the all-star game. Had Penny just sat out the entire 96-97 season, he would of had a full recovery and he probably would have won a championship, because that Magic team was really good.
Brandon Roy hurts man, imagine him and Dame on the court...they'd be a crazy duo...and Derrick Rose seems to be getting back on track on playing in an All Star level again
Unless I was watching something else all these players except Jay Williams kept playing. So keeping Grant Hill and Derrick Rose off doesn’t make sense. Hill lost multiple seasons to injury in his prime and Rose can’t even get on the court any more. Have to give props to having some old guys, was hoping Walton would make it... he was awesome!
I still might put Bird ahead of him because who knows what his #'s could have looked like if he wasn't injured those last couple years and forced into early retirement. But Samson should without a doubt be top 5.
Man this video made me appreciate and respect Drose even more, had so many injuries and surgery on his knees but still capable of being a 6th man of the year.
nice job!!! especially your call on Bynum, the people that criticized (almost as a bust) just seemed to over look the fact that he suffered those injuries.
Tommy you mean Isiah Thomas Dumb Nuts 🥜 I see you do not watch Basketball 🏀 He is talking about a different Isiah you know the one that was on the Boston Celtics runner up on MVP voting a few years ago that now plays for the nuggets.
@@lucasfamily4670 I know that and I agree, but you're saying that as if I'm not calling him one of the greatest player who has the potential for it to be ended by his latest injury. Which is literally what I'm saying.
D Rose is like G hill “what could have been” D rose would have been at his prime right now, he is the youngest MVP ever and in the east would be perennial east conf finals
Can’t forget that Pete had half the working heart as everyone else, it’s a rare defect where he was missing 1-2 of his heart valves, when your supposed to have 4. So that means he was getting less oxygen over all and was causing his body to work overtime, so was probably constantly exhausted.
Derrick Rose can still hoop yall. He will do big in the playoffs God willing. And honestly it’s getting annoying when people make D Rose jokes the man can still take ankles and move and explode fast
. Yeah I saw a Christian movie about his childhood and basketball beginnings and I thought they were overreacting in the movie about his passing skills and shooting abilities but I guess he was just as good as they show him in the movie I started to really watch basketball in 1976 so I only watched him for about two or three years he was known for being at the very top in scoring nearly 30 points per game but not as great as Magic yeah but there's no one like Magic watching Magic was like watching one of the Globetrotters except that it was real 48minutes of entertainment magical indeed there's been someone close to Jordan and there will be someone better than Jordan but there will never be another Magic because the sports media did a great job downgrading Magic skills in favor of the more appealing flashiness of Jordan and yes Jordan was great but Magic was amazing magical.
Antonio McDyess played for a long time, but those knee injuries turned him from an all-star and all-nba player into a role player. McDyess was crazy fun to watch. He was a Shawn Kemp/Blake Griffin type of player before the injuries.
Taken Indica fair enough, but at least we were able to see prime Tmac and Amare. B-Roy never got to his prime and a core of him LaMarcus and Dame could really do something in the west.
And maybe even Drazen Petrovic. Really there are so many that could be on here and that is the real sad part to me. So much talent we never got to see.
Love T-Mac but to say "theres no doubt" he's top 5 all time shooting guard is a big stretch. MJ , Kobe, D-Wade, AI, Harden, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Clyde Drexler...
You know I didn't even think about Harden, who I'd agree is probably going to be ranked above Tmac when all said and done. There's a ton more too, like is Tracy really >>> Jerry West & Pete Maravich? I might say he's = Maravich since they were both great scorers who didn't win fuck all lol.
D Rose and Grant Hill definitely are in top 5. We can make a case that Dwight Howard should be on the list if T Mac and C Web is mentioned. Back surgery is one of many things that affect Dwight Howard's career. Dajuan Wagner drafted six overall by cleveland in 2002 had a good potential.
I started watching this video at 9:45 P.M. and just finished it now after *25* minutes. The one and only player that I didn't know before today was Jay Williams (#2).
Azrael leo they may have played for awhile after the injury, but then again, they are no longer in the league at the time of this video. Rose carreer on the other hand, ruined by injuries, but still active.
Missing G.Hill, Bobby Hurley, Shawn Kemp, Sam Bowie, Alonzo Mourning. V. Carter and so many others. To have Tracy Macgrady so low is an insult by the way.
@@eyesoket2364 Definitely. The list is really endless. Another name is Brad Daugherty who was a great player who also had to pack it in before the age of 30 in Cleveland.
"There's no doubt that Tracy McGrady is a top 5 shooting guard all-time." Uh... 1) Michael Jordan 2) Kobe Bryant 3) Jerry West 4) George Gervin 5) Allen Iverson 6) Clyde Drexler 7) Dwyane Wade 8) Pete Maravich 9) Vince Carter 10) Ray Allen 11) Reggie Miller ... 16?)Tracy McGrady Sure there's an argument that could be made to place him above Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, or someone lower on the list, but I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone that would Rank McGrady above anyone in the top five listed above.
i literally dont see 3 other people who could compete with mcgrady on that list. Putting Jery West gervin and AI ahead of Drexler is a mystery. Vince Carter is a bombshell of a pick. He was a phenomenal dunker. An icon in his own right, but as a top SG? No way.
Yeah T-Mac at his prime would rank much higher than I have him listed but the video didn't say at his prime, it said all-time. To me that means total career. Let's look at the career numbers: Allen Iverson 26.7ppg (12 seasons 20ppg+), 11x all-star Vince Carter 17.7ppg (10 seasons 20ppg+), 8x all-star Tracy McGrady 19.6ppg (8 seasons 20ppg+), 7x all-star As you can see, neither Carter or McGrady can touch Iverson. You might be saying that 19.6ppg is better than 17.7ppg though, but that's more a result of Vince's crazy longevity and subsequent role player status. It we look at the first 10 years of their career for both players: Vince Carter 23.8ppg, 44.7 FG%, 37.5 3P%, 79.4 FT% Tracy McGrady 22.4ppg, 43.9 FG%, 34.2 3P%, 75.2 FT% By the numbers Vince had a better first 10 years of his career, and he sure as hell is guaranteed to have a better next 10 years of his career after due to McGrady's injuries. Yeah it sucks that McGrady got injured and couldn't live up to his potential, but if we're talking about careers then most of the guys I've listed had better ones.
Damn what a shame! Pretty sad to see so much talent get taken away by injuries. That’s gotta be a tough pill to swallow being forced to give up the game you love to play cuz you physically can’t play it anymore.
This guy did VERY LITTLE research. He took McGrady on the list over Larry Bird??? Does he not remember seeing all those clips of Bird laying on his back in pain and needing to retire in his PRIME???
I think Bird had already passed his apogee by the time the back started becoming a constant problem. Had Bird's back remained healthy, I could see him playing another two or three seasons past when he actually did retire in '92, but I don't think he would have continued to be in his mid-80s form.
Food for thought: Anyone think about how these injuries changed the game of basketball? ' The Logo' is someone who the NBA thought of back then to introduce the 3-point line. Andrew Bynum, Greg Oden, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway... they all changed the game too. Bringing in what was then called "streetball" into the NBA smaller high flying guys then came forward as the main attraction, big men are in a sense illegitimate in the game now, with all teams playing "smaller" without any big threat of a big man like those in this video.

Brandon Roy in his prime 🔥🔥🔥
Coz of injuries 😭😭😭
He never actually reached his prime. He had been battling injuries since College. 😥
@@UndeadItachi2 😢😭😓
D Rose?
Dope Game d rose not retired u big fool
Rteded Sescvg He said that their careers ended, not that they retired
Lych03G rose is still on the cavs tho. He will play when he is healed
Lych03G some retired because they weren't on the same level as other NBA players, have you even watched the video
Bricco Well not every single one
Damn that my guy Pete cold with the passes
He was on some Globetrotter sh*t it seemed!
Guys the title says careers ENDED by injuries, rose is still doing pretty good, but not as good as b4
Pizza Piggy gaming How bout Larry Bird
Well now he's a coach but I miss him broy
f
Unless I was watching something else all these players except Jay Williams kept playing. So keeping Grant Hill and Derrick Rose off doesn’t make sense. Hill lost multiple seasons to injury in his prime and Rose can’t even get on the court any more. Have to give props to having some old guys, was hoping Walton would make it... he was awesome!
He got traded to the jazz, and the jazz immediately released him
How you got Andrew bynum on the list but you don't got Grant Hill or Ralph Sampson.
TMAC was still a beast after his injury
How about Grant Hill?
I wonder what their careers would be like if they didnt have injuries
Yao Ming might still be in the NBA
Asian King tmac would have surpassed Kobe
Brandon Roy would b top 10 easy
@@nuknuknuk111 exactly thankyou
You're out of your mind, Ralph Sampson should be #1, and Bynum shouldn't even be on the list.
I still might put Bird ahead of him because who knows what his #'s could have looked like if he wasn't injured those last couple years and forced into early retirement. But Samson should without a doubt be top 5.
Sal Amander I always thought he was overrated
Man this video made me appreciate and respect Drose even more, had so many injuries and surgery on his knees but still capable of being a 6th man of the year.
That broke my heart hearing that Greg Oden is only 29
Dude..how in the world is Grant Hill not on this list.
Antonio Prescimone because his career didn’t end
It took years but he got back on track
Because you didn't read the whole title.
John I’ll get you banned from RUclips for your answer to the question
Where is my guy Gilbert Arenas at??.. nice vid btw 👌🏾
iRepDMV guy got arrested and suspended indefinitely. No injuries
Arenas had 2 major knee injuries before that
3x surgery most likely fucked him up and gun thing really ended his career for sure
nonickslick major fall was still because of the gun case.
does being stupid enough to bring a loaded gun to a lockerroom Count as an injury?
3:02 bruh and they are joking on lonzo
Can’t,pick on a guy that good
nice job!!! especially your call on Bynum, the people that criticized (almost as a bust) just seemed to over look the fact that he suffered those injuries.
D rose drop 50!!!🔥🔥 proops to Rose for keep grinding and ballin
Andrew bynum was the big lost in the NBA especially for the Lakers.
Isaiah Thomas might end up on this list if he doesn’t come back strong next year
Isah Thomas played n the 90s for pistons u dumb numb nutz
Tommy you mean Isiah Thomas Dumb Nuts 🥜 I see you do not watch Basketball 🏀 He is talking about a different Isiah you know the one that was on the Boston Celtics runner up on MVP voting a few years ago that now plays for the nuggets.
Why is Tracy mcgrady number 10 somebody tell me
Noah Payne there is no order watch the comment of the uploader
Poor research.
O
Yao had a really nice mid range shot & had some finesse moves down low, one of my favorite center's ever
7:01 I thought that light was on the court 😂😂😂
I hope this won't be the thing for Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.
KD shoulda stayed
Kd is already an all time great in the top 40 even if you hate his guts. You can't compare that to a Brandon Roy.
@@lucasfamily4670 I know that and I agree, but you're saying that as if I'm not calling him one of the greatest player who has the potential for it to be ended by his latest injury. Which is literally what I'm saying.
Grant Hill is missing here. Top 1 or 2 on the list.
dude went to my high school
You lack reading comprehension skills.
grant hill and derrick rose
Boyet they haven't retire
Rose not so much but grant hill............😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Come on man how do you not have g.hill on this list
D Rose is like G hill “what could have been” D rose would have been at his prime right now, he is the youngest MVP ever and in the east would be perennial east conf finals
I came back here. 50pts nuff said
Can’t forget that Pete had half the working heart as everyone else, it’s a rare defect where he was missing 1-2 of his heart valves, when your supposed to have 4. So that means he was getting less oxygen over all and was causing his body to work overtime, so was probably constantly exhausted.
The real tragedy was that haircut. 13:01
Are these supposed to be top 10 or just 10 in no order... Cause tmac should be #1 if its ranked
Derrick Rose can still hoop yall. He will do big in the playoffs God willing. And honestly it’s getting annoying when people make D Rose jokes the man can still take ankles and move and explode fast
Khalid Hamadeh except he doesn't play like that anymore. Mentally he can't do it anymore. 1 more injury & he'll retire.
He retired already
Juan Polanco mope. Type his name in google you will see he is coming back
Khalid Hamadeh if hes coming back he had to retire......
That boy Pete could 🏀. Respect 💯
Even Derrick Rose they forgot him so fast after his injury....... But he is still one of the best player in NBA
Anklez Prod he’s def a top 30 player
@@30boyjb he isn't top 30 in any offensive categories and he sucks at defense. Also only played 51 games so that takes from his value too.
Anklez Prod right? These people are overrating drose just like how people overrate AI.
AI is underrated asf
Lputony name 30 players better then drose shit name 20 if you can do that ill cashapp you $20
Antonio McDyess played for a long time, but those knee injuries turned him from an all-star and all-nba player into a role player. McDyess was crazy fun to watch. He was a Shawn Kemp/Blake Griffin type of player before the injuries.
Brando Roy should be #1 don’t get it twisted
Celticgeorge11 never that’s spot is for Grant Hill but he don’t put him in this list
Tmac will shit on roy
Amare stoudimire
Who’s Brando
Taken Indica fair enough, but at least we were able to see prime Tmac and Amare. B-Roy never got to his prime and a core of him LaMarcus and Dame could really do something in the west.
Bernard King should be on this list imo
Tmac is all around tho bro
AI played the PG
Kobe said he was like 2nd or 1st hardest for him to guard so t-mac should be top 5
Harden was only good at scoring. Tmac was all around.
3:25 he took the rebound from his own teammate
Thats normal.. He missed it and passed it back
Great video 👍
Sam Bowie should be number one..
8:08 Chris Webbber standing only 6'10 😂😂 i wonder how tall you would be😂😂😂😂
When down to last 2-3 i expect D Rose and Grant Hill. Tnx anyway
onuruz me too but then thought about it they still had decent careers and rose is doing decent right now
@@bhuang8981 makes sense 🤔
Their careers were not ended by injuries that is why. D Rose is still active. Injury plagued careers but not ended by them.
8:08 last time I checked, 6’10 is tall
Chakagoater Goat not for a center they're like 7 feet
Chakagoater Goat that’s short for a center
6’10 is a inch smaller than the average center
DragoN 3 PG ahhh gotcha why didn’t you just say that in the first place
D Rose and Grant Hill definitely are in top 5. We can make a case that Dwight Howard should be on the list if T Mac and C Web is mentioned. Back surgery is one of many things that affect Dwight Howard's career. Dajuan Wagner drafted six overall by cleveland in 2002 had a good potential.
Exactly
Damn. I imagined Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson with this one. Oh God please no
They didn't end they're careers
Larry Johnson?
Jacob Junior he was an overall number one pick, and he should have done enough to be in the Hall of Fame but I guess injuries stopped that
D rose and grant hill should be number one and two
Garrett Saulnier I don't know about Hill, but D Rose is still playing and obviously didn't retire
Bird >>>> Hill. Hill at least had a fairly long career and was an ultra role player on some decent teams. Bird retired in his prime.
t-mac is #10 but oden is #7 and bynum is #1? you should be one of the junkies, who thinks Lebron is GOAT but never seen MJ on TV...
I started watching this video at 9:45 P.M. and just finished it now after *25* minutes. The one and only player that I didn't know before today was Jay Williams (#2).
Grant Hill had a long career. His injuries derailed him but did not make him retire early and give up, that is why he is not on the list.
Grant Hill and Derek Rose not being on this list made it not worth watching
Cody Hill Title says carreers ended, Rose still in the league.
@@kirbycalitis345 but most of the players played multiple seasons after there injury so why isnt d rose on the list?
Azrael leo they may have played for awhile after the injury, but then again, they are no longer in the league at the time of this video. Rose carreer on the other hand, ruined by injuries, but still active.
It's *Derrick Rose. And a comeback isn't considered "career ending" 😂
Okay hes still in the league but hes garbage now.... he came all the way back to sit on the bench
Missing G.Hill, Bobby Hurley, Shawn Kemp, Sam Bowie, Alonzo Mourning. V. Carter and so many others. To have Tracy Macgrady so low is an insult by the way.
Vince Carter still hasn't retired
Everyone sleeps on Tmac it seems
Where is grant hill? Damn!
Because they came back
Because he played 19 seasons. The injuries plagued him, but not ended his career. Reading comprehension is key. Damn!
Grant Hill should have been on that list. He was great until leaving for Orlando, which is when the injury bug would slow him down from then on.
I expected Hill to be #1 on this list
@@eyesoket2364 Definitely. The list is really endless. Another name is Brad Daugherty who was a great player who also had to pack it in before the age of 30 in Cleveland.
Good list.
I immediately thought of Allen Houston and Grant Hill
Who's here after KD Achilles injury?
lol if kd retired he will be 100% in the hof.
Jabari Parker and dlo might make here
NBA GG bruh this is dlo’s first major injury, he’s gonna be fine just watch
"There's no doubt that Tracy McGrady is a top 5 shooting guard all-time."
Uh...
1) Michael Jordan
2) Kobe Bryant
3) Jerry West
4) George Gervin
5) Allen Iverson
6) Clyde Drexler
7) Dwyane Wade
8) Pete Maravich
9) Vince Carter
10) Ray Allen
11) Reggie Miller
...
16?)Tracy McGrady
Sure there's an argument that could be made to place him above Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, or someone lower on the list, but I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone that would Rank McGrady above anyone in the top five listed above.
T-Mac in his prime was at prime Kobe level. You legit have Carter and Allen ahead of Miller? You make my head hurt...
Thanks you for agreeing jeez people are dumb
Steven Phillips Reggie Miller is overrated
i literally dont see 3 other people who could compete with mcgrady on that list.
Let's look at the career numbers:
Allen Iverson 26.7ppg (12 seasons 20ppg+), 11x all-star
Vince Carter 17.7ppg (10 seasons 20ppg+), 8x all-star
Tracy McGrady 19.6ppg (8 seasons 20ppg+), 7x all-star
As you can see, neither Carter or McGrady can touch Iverson. You might be saying that 19.6ppg is better than 17.7ppg though, but that's more a result of Vince's crazy longevity and subsequent role player status. It we look at the first 10 years of their career for both players:
Vince Carter 23.8ppg, 44.7 FG%, 37.5 3P%, 79.4 FT%
Tracy McGrady 22.4ppg, 43.9 FG%, 34.2 3P%, 75.2 FT%
By the numbers Vince had a better first 10 years of his career, and he sure as hell is guaranteed to have a better next 10 years of his career after due to McGrady's injuries.
D Rose didn’t have his career ended but his injuries were 370% harsher than these, how you tryna pass on my man Derrick
Ralph Sampson?
itouchsniper right...look at my comments above!
Yes Ralph Sampson all time best player that got there career cut short due to injuries by a landslide
This guy did VERY LITTLE research. He took McGrady on the list over Larry Bird??? Does he not remember seeing all those clips of Bird laying on his back in pain and needing to retire in his PRIME???
I liked Ralf so much i named a tree by our bb goal Ralf
I think Bird had already passed his apogee by the time the back started becoming a constant problem. Had Bird's back remained healthy, I could see him playing another two or three seasons past when he actually did retire in '92, but I don't think he would have continued to be in his mid-80s form.
Portland is unlucky 😂
This is a depressing list :(
Food for thought:
Anyone think about how these injuries changed the game of basketball? ' The Logo' is someone who the NBA thought of back then to introduce the 3-point line. Andrew Bynum, Greg Oden, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway... they all changed the game too. Bringing in what was then called "streetball" into the NBA smaller high flying guys then came forward as the main attraction, big men are in a sense illegitimate in the game now, with all teams playing "smaller" without any big threat of a big man like those in this video.
Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, Alridge, Dame and CJ McCollum on the same team? Would've been special.
Why would they all be in the same team. Portland would not have that cap so sign all these players bro.
You could've potentially had that same team, with Durant in place of Oden! Blazers passed up on Durant for Oden.
