Really important for me on a Dj Laptop:
15 inches or bigger bright screen
    Backlit keyboard
Core i5 at least (core i7 ideal)
    Dedicated graphic card (video dj)
Tons of conectivity (4 usb ports for me)
    Big memory capacity
1tb storage for music and documents in general and separate hard drive for the software, OS and things like that.
This is my list for a pro laptop to be used as a professional Video DJ.

    1) Ensure you have at least 4gb ram (does not matter if it's ddr 3 or 4)
    2) At least a 256 gb SSD (I suggest Samsung Evo)
3a) Intel core i3 5th gen or i5 3rd Gen or above ( for Intel lovers)
3b) AMD A8 or AMD ryzen (for AMD lovers)
    4) For Video djing I suggest a dedicated gpu at least Geforce GTx 750 or AMD radeon R7 for full hd.
    5) Use the laptop for djing only.
    6) Never install updates if the OS is stable.
    7) Check for reviews before buying a laptop.
    8) Do not install a 3rd party antivirus, windows defender is sufficient.
    9) Do not install applications that you do not require.
    10) Always take a backup!!!!!!

I used an AMD processor with Serato DJ and it worked great, I switched to Rekordbox DJ and an Intel i3 processor and that one worked great. Clean up your laptop when you buy it, make it a DJ only laptop and you will be fine. Watch out for sales, a new model comes out the old one gets a little cheaper.

If your a bit tight on cash, go for an older used corporate grade laptop. I got a Dell Precision which has an 8 core i7, 16GB ram, a 256gb SSD, and a GeForce graphics card with 2GB dedicated RAM. Installed win7 pro and dedicated the laptop just for DJ use. Its super quick and very reliable. £1,100 laptop for now approx. £250.

Getting into the craft now full-time for the past three years. What I've found in the industry that the more experienced DJs who I look up to and sometimes get an opportunity to play alongside ends up 'PC shaming'. Since this Black Friday I've purchased a 2017 MacBook Pro after a long time of saving and will now be making that switch from my Dell laptop to a MacBook. I've been quite lucky tho in that time since I've been doing this full time, I have my own radio show now on a baseball commercial radio station and have now been making a living from doing what started out as a hobby for me 😀

make more of this but more specific. VDJ has now instant stems...the point here is, even vor DJs not doing video, that the grafix cards become more important. Instant stems in VDJ are MUCH more speedy calculated if there is a CUDA supported grafix is in place, means must be Nvidia minimum GTX9.x. As result the gaming laptops are getting more important for DJs. Due to th lack of marketing it would be anyway important to see more about VDJ. It is underrated due to the old meaning about it and combinded with the close to no marketing of Atomix about their develeopment, I was shocked about this as my opinion of VDJ was, due to no knowledge, based on the old stuff....ugly GUI, terrible sound...all of this is HISTORY. Worth to talk about it as VDJ is THE software that makes a DJ independend of the hardware. Works perfectly with whatever....a clear seperator to the competition!
