The woman was Emma Freud. Wife of Richard Curtis who co-wrote Blackadder and made films such as 4 Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually. She was once a TV presenter here in the UK and still works as a script editor.
The joke in the beginning was that she had presumably written her own description, unlike the others, whose partners were accredited with their descriptions.😊
"The Darling Buds of May" was a TV dramatisation of the novels by H.E.Bates aired in the early 1990s and starring (among others) David Jason and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It was very popular. Pop Larkin's character was known to say "Perfick" (perfect) a lot.
Being the age I am, I recall these shows when they were broadcast. Hysteria and a few others, were sort of gala comedy nights to raise money for certain causes.
Emma Freud is great, haven't seen her for years but she was a popular TV presenter around that time, she has quite the family line, her father was Sir Clement Freud and Sigmund Freud her great grandfather but she was also the niece of the incredible artist Lucian Freud who I've always been a huge fan of.
Just reminded me, it would be worth checking out Rowan Atkinson live in Belfast. Pretty sure I have it on vinyl somewhere, but some of the classic sketches include, The Devil, The curry house, Fatal Beatings and others. All them carefully scripted and perfected no doubt, over many performances.
As you've been introduced to Emma Freud, it's worth knowing that another Emma - Emma Thompson - did quite a bit of work with Fry and Laurie in the '80s.
Each one was meant to sound typical of that writer, ie H E bates the first one, then tom stoppard the second one etc, the only reason I understood the second one was cause I read some of his play "Rosencroits and guildestern" are dead.
Hi Brian, slightly off topic, but any plans for any more tasting reactions? Not done any of those for some time and they were fun to watch... And im sure fun for you to do too.
The American film "Shag" (1988), did not deliver on it's title's promise. Instead we got another one of those naff Americana films about dancing and fly fishing, set in the 1960s. What a lousy rip-off. I call this false advertising. This happened again with Saving Private Ryan. It had nothing to do with D-Day. The soldiers seemed more interested in doing gay stuff and shaving Ryan's tackle. Disgusting. The next time I go to the cinema to watch an American film, I'm leaving my hand cream at home.

The lady was Emma Freud, i.e. the racy description was from herself. She is descended from *that* Freud.
Dick Francis (the last author) wrote thrillers usually about horse racing. Rowan neighed

She actually introduced the two to each other, and her and Laurie was an item for a while back then.
Wow Emma Freud, I had totally forgotten about her. Had a bit of a crush on her in my teens.
Oh yes indeed.
Emma Freud, in recent times, admitted to admitting that has thought about French kissing her teenage son. Yeh, she changed.
Propper Muppetry indeed!
Cheers KingBellend (now now, that's written with nothing but love and (in)dignity!)

And Dick Francis' books usually has a plot taking place around some kind of equestrian sport, that's why the neighing(sp?) in the last one.
A great , shortish, interview to watch with Hugh Laurie is Stephen Colbert with Hugh Laurie reads 57 thank you notes.
I had such a massive crush on Emma Freud...hah 'had'.
I'm surprised I haven't come across this sketch before.
The woman is Emma Freud. Classic 90s sketch comedy
Shocking in the US, but we always laughed at anything in the UK, as long as we didn't mean any offence.
Forgot about this one. 😂❤
Quality.

I see your intros most days - farting one is the best.
Is today's intro a tribute to Kirk Johnson?
