When I was married, I didn't need a job and only got one because I was getting restless at home (I'm an extrovert). When they got nasty with me, I said "you literally need me more than I need you". I miss the freedom of knowing I could quit at the drop of a hat if I was mistreated. Luckily I work at a Starbucks with an awesome crew and wonderful manager now.

I thought that too. Then my company fired 10% of staff cause they were 100 million dollars over what was budgeted for storms this year. Lost 40% of their surplus in 4 years. So even if they need you, you are still expendable. It's Kay though. I'm not terribly mad at all.

My friend said this as a teacher. She worked with so many snobby rich kids so when she disciplined them their parents would get their panties all in a twist but she would stand her ground. Parents would then go crying and complaining to her director but she would defend her teaching style which worked very well and would not apologize when she did nothing wrong. I would say to her “aren’t you afraid of getting in trouble?” She would say “I’m the only one here with the skills to work with the behavioural kids and the rich snobby brats. Plus my children are advancing quite quickly and we are heavily short staffed so what are they gonna do fire me?” Lol she’s an awesome 5’2 little firecracker 🧨 💥 she left teaching to care for her sick sister but oh my gosh the kids LOVED her and when she goes to visit her old coworkers at the school her director asks when she’s coming back! 🥰🥰

I once had to handle a really rough situation that had taken nearly the entire shift and wed done everything to handle the situation according to policy and procedures. Finally just said "whatre they gonna do, fire me? Im the best theyve got on this shift rn!" And solved the situation in 10 mins. Next shift came in, saw the report i made and just thanked me before telling me to leave before i got asked to do overtime or anything cause id earned the evening off. Thanks guys.

I felt this. I'm on 6 days with one day off, then at it again. These are 12-16 hour shifts, in a nursing home. I walked out the other day because I got blamed for something that wasn't my fault. My boss was literally yelling at me. So, I walked out. However, we're so understaffed I felt bad. So I came back in, and explained to her that I don't care anymore. But, I do care about most of my coworkers, except the one who can't clean up after herself, and blames me for her messes. In fact I started taking pictures, and showing my boss that her favorite employee is a damn liar. Ever since then, she's been very nice to me. The liar is mad because she was caught, and she actually has to do her job now. I don't play!!

I walked in to get my check one day… there was a line of people waiting for service (this was an ice cream shop) and he was watching Netflix. He tried to bully me into working become he didn’t want to. I ignored him and walked out with my check. Most of those customers came back over the next few days and most asked why I didn’t help them when I was there. I told them it was my day off and I was literally just there for my check… and no my boss was not going to fire me. My then boyfriend went into the store after I quit and the owner had hired three people who had NO idea what they were doing and the store looked like shit.

When I ended up in the hospital as a kid after being run over by a car (she thought I was a speed bump!!), I have to say it was the nurses who kept me sane. I had passed out from the shock and didn't have a heart rate in the ambulance and nearly passed out again from a panic attack, but 2 absolutely wonderful nurses calmly talked me through it and even managed to put in the IV without me noticing when they realised I was deathly afraid of needles. Plus the male nurse kept checking on me between rounds and made sure I always had a nice pair of those soft hospital socks. The other nurse also held my hand while they popped my knee back in place even though she probably had other patients.

If you absentmindedly took the keys home (or wherever) you HAD TO bring them back IMMEDIATELY. As soon as you discovered them. Did not matter what time, where you were, your kids are all in bed... No you may NOT just bring them back when you report back for your next shift. If you are a young, rather new Nurse after a shift at your first job in Philadelphia , Bring the Narc Keys Back to the Hospital RIGHT NOW. The one with the waiting room hit, not a nurse but I was waiting in the ER to be seen for ordered labs when this exact BS started to happen. Nurses technically cannot lay hands on someone when doing this but other patients in the waiting room can pour water on the offending person.

@@blueskieszeta Thanks! My grandma and aunts are nurses, when my grandma retired she still met up with her old colleagues and shiftmates. A lot of my younger adolescents spent with her was during these meet ups and I’d over hear all kinds of things, at the hospital she first worked at this kind of incident happened quite often but they were not allowed to physically touch a male patient waiting to be scene until he was in a room so they’d have to wait until a male colleague or patient interfered. The best way to not get slapped with battery or sexual harassment charges was/is to pour cold water on them as cold water doesn’t burn them.
