What new possibilities they crate and how many problems they solve directly and indirectly. Bitcoin can change the world more than both these inventions.
True but the new blockchain technologies are the ones to invest in, even if it is only 30 or 100 USD. Bitcoin was like the first car ever made. There are new great platforms like IOTA, Cardano, EOS, TRON where you help the future of the platform and a chance to gain some money. when I invest I sell half the coins when it doubles and move on.
This really opens your mind, and really says something to me. With all the pressure from both sides (for and against), Andreas puts it into perspective, and the saying echoes in my head, "Keep calm, and zoom out."
I wish i could explain Bitcoin in a manner like you do to my family, friends and neighbors. I wish i can learn how to do it right in a very simple systematic way Andreas. GOD bless you always.

If you understand that, you do not need to look for any other reasons to see: bitcoin will stay with us for quite a long time. What bitcoin does, should not even be possible. The BGP is known not to be solvable! Yet some practical genius solved it. You really CANNOT overstate the importance of what happened! Please understand, every structure of our planetary society was build on the - quite just - assumption, that the BGP cannot be solved. All of them. We simply didn't have a choice. Until now. We just can not fathom, what comes next. All these structures, institutions will be redesigned and wherever it suits us better, decentralized solutions will - slowly - be implemented. I'm missing a few steps in your argument. As for the decentralization of institutions, how decentralized does the development, mining, exchanging of bitcoin (or bitcoin cash, for that matter) look to you?

Why are the blockchain fees and bitwallet fees are high? Is there any recommendations for any wallets that don’t charge any transaction fees or mining fees. Because say a .50 transaction just 2014 was possible but not now.

Same reaction for me. 2011 first time. Thought it was a type of PayPal type of solution. Already had PayPal so I did not need another one. Jan 2016 I came across it again, hmmm monopoly money, but it started to dig into it and more into blockchain and it just blew my mind completely. My background is that I have been in the digital industry since 1972, ICs and the first microprocessors, etc and worked in various industries that have been disrupted by digitalization during the time I worked in it. Computers, Arcade/gambling, photo industry. So I'm pretty techy and early adoptor of new tech. I can understand that people with more regular background don't understand. But this is a revolution when never seen before.

I'd be interested to know what Andreas' opinion would be on the new US tax law in regulating like-kind trades between cryptocurrencies. I don't understand how the IRS would ever be able to track that.
It's called derailing governments and their taxes. The people will exercise their free will, their individual choice, and will not pay tax to a government that only uses that money to buy weapons, chemicals, pharmaceutical drugs and slowly bleed to society to death through paying enormous sums to banks. Instead of a social security system based in a central authority, there will be a social security system of peer-to-peer assistance, and like-minded individuals collaborating together on projects they have a passion for. Why go through a middle man, the tax collector? There will be no need for a tax collector or a government in the future. There will just be us, billions of us, each choosing where we want to spend or donate our money. And that will be the security system. That will be the insurance. We will help each other, bail out each other, give to each other. Because that's what good people do.
