It's not that they're admitting they're reckless drivers, it's that they're bragging about the adrenaline, which is an addiction. My cousin is like this, and after an incident that happened between us on the road, he's changed for the better. But if they never get a reality check or wake up call, they simply continue for that adrenaline rush.

I OBVIOUSLY DO NOT APPROVE what they're doing, NOR DO I FIND IT ACCEPTABLE IN ANY WAY, or I'm not trying to justify them...
but I really hope that they'll grow up ASAP, be mature and be mindful about other people's lives that are at stake, let alone their own.

Payton died, the 14 year old in the back was severely injured and the driver had a couple of scratches or a broken arm at the most...these people thinking it's okay to speed, drink drive or be reckless make me sick! Everytime they drive recklessly it's not just them they're endangering...what if they crashed through a front room window where a 5 year old boy is playing with his 2 year old sister? That happened when i was 11-12 and I'm now 26 and I have never drove without a seat belt or ever drove drunk I never use my phone and if I get a call I will pull over to answer it and I always go with the speed limit, when u lose someone u love in a car accident especially as young as I was it completely changes ur view on driving and how u drive.

I don’t drive dangerously but I tend to go 10 over the limit sometimes . A child the age of my daughter got run over and died in front of her high school . The cat was going 50 in a school zone . She was a straight A student . Her first year of high school. Her mother speaking to the news saying she thought it was just a broken bone and nothing could prepared for her to arrive at the hospital and find her daughter dead. She hugged her daughter goodbye that morning and the call at 8am and at 11 am she was dead . Like that Could’ve been my child . I could’ve been preparing her funeral instead of her homecoming shopping . Anyways this was what took for me to stop going over even 5 miles over the speed limit. I drive carefully in school zones and in neighborhoods . But this is what made me change .

Keaton Buster I think saying what you said about young people is wrong . Yes a few of them are like that , but it’s a small minority . Litterally now all young drivers have black boxes which monitors your driving . What BBC showed today is nothing new . Schools have implemented some assemblies called Safe Drive , Stay alive . So I have to disagree sorry

In 1991, my dad was late for work. He stopped at the lights on his motorbike. The man in the van on the opposed junction tried to get in under the lights but they had changed to red and my dad's had changed to green. Both were there and shouldn't have been. Now my dad has missed me & my sister growing up and that man ruined a good portion of his life and fled to avoid arrest. Dad was a month shy of 30. I'm 31. It's bizarre thinking you've already lived longer. No drink, just not enough attention. He was a multi organ donor and couldn't donate anything. His death was a complete waste. Drive safely, you share the road with everyone.

I was hit by a car last week by a guy that was on his phone. The coward didn’t bother asking if I was even okay and drove off. There was a moment when the car and I collided and I just thought “wow, I’m really about to die here, alone, not surrounded by any of my loved ones and just casually walking from work.” Luckily I was okay and nothing was broken or damaged. People please stay off your phone while driving.

Luckily she had no fractures nor minor injuries but she discovered some months ago her leg muscles got a bit damaged (nothing that can't be cured but a big pain in the ass if u ask me). I feel like all of these people were just paying this poor guy lip service and they will be back to driving the way they did by the next day. People don’t care until it happens to them or someone they know. And the worst part about drunk drivers is that most of the time they end up miraculously walking away without injuries while killing and maiming others. And then all they get is 6 months of community service and their license is revoked for maybe a year. Choosing to get into a car drunk should be a manslaughter charge if you kill someone. End of story.

When I was 10 my Aunt and her family came for their usual summer visit. Since we lived 4 hours apart we would go visit them for a week and they would visit us for a week. I loved those visits very much until that summer. We were coming home from the bowling alley and someone carelessly parked a construction truck in the road. It was rush hour and the road was packed so when the Semi in front of us got over we had only second to get over and no one let us. I was in the front seat. I remember gasping because I knew we were going to crash. The fear I felt was heart stopping. The next thing I remember was waking up blind and hearing my dad screaming that my sister was dead. She wasn't the only one either. My Aunt who had been thrown from the car with me was also dead. I was thrown 120 feet in front of on coming traffic. If a young married couple hadn't stopped and pulled me out of the road I would have perished as well. Thankfully I was only blinded by the blood flowing from my head into my eyes. I sustained a few injuries to my face neck and back and I picked glass from my body for the next 15 years. Fast forward to age 42 and the injuries to my neck and back are now debilitating at the worst of times and very painful. At times I need to use a cane and others I cant walk from the pain. I suffered horrendous name calling throughout my childhood due to the scar on my face and it still affects my confidence and self esteem. I suffer from anxiety and it has affected my life as well as the life of my children and husband. Teaching them to drive was horrifying for me but I managed to get through it. The loss of my sister is terrible every July 4th because that was her birthday and I'm reminded of the fact fact that she never got to grow up or have children. I often wonder what she would have been like and wish she could have seen my children grow up as well. My sister passed away 13 days after her 13th birthday. My aunt who was in her 30's left behind 3 children. So you'll have to excuse me when I say I'd like to slap them with a brick.

I was leaving work and a bus driver pulled out of a stop and completely took my car under the bus, I was actually trapped for over an hour and if it wasn’t for the NHS I would’ve been dead. He was on his phone and now I’m left partially deaf from the impact, scarred all over from emergency surgery and glass everywhere not to mention all the mental scars I have, I’m back to driving now and these are the type of people who killed my cousin 5 years ago at 14 years old and the type of people that nearly killed me.

The guy was in the wrong, the traffic light turned green it was my mother's turn to go and he decided to turn the same time I saw that we were going to crash so I was trying to warn my mom but it was too late. Next thing I know we swerving and end up in between to poles mind you these poles were very close to each other there was hardly space where we ended up. The car was damaged completely without thinking I immediately went out the car and starting shouting at the man, little did I know I was injured (just a few cuts on my legs) I was sitting in the back, my brother didn't have his seat belt on my mother and I did. *People its serious, if we can't text and walk why do we text and drive*. There is a time and a place for it, like you can assess the places where a high probability of something going wrong will take place and not drive like a moron. Its not like people don't drive over the speed limits in areas where its pretty safe to go over them, its just areas where the streets are small and anyone can walk out or on blind corners.

By a miracle my baby son was unharmed however I suffered a concussion, a dislocated shoulder, severe whiplash,a herniated disc in my back and severe bruising of my chest and over my still healing c-section wound.I had to have glass removed from my head and arm and stiches. I developed PTSD and had panic attacks and nightmares where my son was dead. I had to see a councellor and ended up on antidepressants. Years after the accident I still suffer from back and neck problems.

He was 19, It was early morning, he didn't drive erratically, he wasn't drunk (although he had trace amounts of alcohol in his system, literally a sip) no one knows what happened that morning, there was an inquest but nobody agrees with there findings. At the end of the day you can crash for any reason even if your stone cold sober and following all the rules of the road. Two people died and nobody knows why.

My cousin died in 2015 he was a passenger in his friend's car, they were racing with some friends and their car lost control and hit head on into a tree and broke the tree in half. My cousin was instantly brain damaged and the images of seeing him in hospital on life support and not even being able to look at me directly and know I was there will never leave my mind. We had to turn his life support off because he was never gonna recover. You might get adrenaline and a thrill for a brief second but eventually something bad is likely to happen and it is not worth it. He has so much life left to live and within a split second he was taken from us all. If anyone reads this please think twice before you drive recklessly or race your friends.

Reminds me of the car accident I was in! I was only 5 years old turning 6 that summer. I had visitation with my dad that weekend. He was drinking a little bit that day and my brother and I got into the truck. My dad was drinking on and off throughout driving. We ended up getting to his house safely and he picked up another brother of mine. Two seatbelts in the car were broken at the time. I was in one of them and my then 4 year old brother was in the other. My 1 year old brother was in the working seatbelt in his car seat. It was about 11 o clock and I was just about to sleep. As I was dozing off, I still remember seeing my father drinking some alcohol and then passing out behind the wheel. I was terrified. When he passed out, he fell to the side and his hand turned the wheel hard. We ended up crashing down a small cliff on the right side of us. I can remember falling and it feeling like my inside were all lifting up. It was weird. I also remember crashing into the side of the cliff and it rolling the car a few times. Luckily someone was behind us who saw us tumble down the cliff. I’m assuming ya immediately called 911 because I heard sirens in the background after 5 or so minutes of resting at the bottom. When the police, ambulance and fire department arrived down the cliff, they saw my dad gone. He abandoned us. My brother (4) and I were in critical condition and my other brother (1) was fine. Remind you, my 4 year old brother and i were NOT WEARING SEATBELTS! We were airlifted to a hospital. I remember seeing so much blood. Just sooo much. I couldn’t stop crying. I remember arriving at the hospital and then just a blackout must have happened because the last thing I remember is waking up in the hospital bed. My mom told me that when she got there, she fell into tears because she saw a lot of blood and my grandma was holding my hand. My mom said that the doctors thought I wouldn’t make it. My mom also told me that I was crying because I couldn’t find my brothers.my brother and I had no broken bones. All I had was a lip basically dangling, gashes all over my body, and hardcore bruises. My brother(4) had his eye lid gashed open and cuts and scrapes. Then my 1 year old brother escaped with a few bruises and cuts. They sewed my lip back on and my brothers eyelid up. They also sewed up some gashes of mine too. I asked my mom where my dad was and she said that the cops found him hiding underneath a nearby bridge. You see, he didn’t want to go to jail. He was drinking and driving and he didn’t even have a license at the time. I tell myself that I’m ugly from the scars(they’ve faded so you can barely see them now). I also tell myself that I was strong to get through it all. The scars are a reminder of how stupid and drunk my dad was then. There’s a lesson or two in there. Don’t get into a car with a drunk driver and always wear a seatbelt because some of us aren’t as lucky to survive. I was lucky. My brothers were lucky. But you may not be.
Edit: oh and yeah. I’m 15 now.

literally last week two of my friends got into a car accident. one of them passed away and the other just came out of a coma and is in rehab for a brain injury. it makes me so angry that some people can be so blasé about these things. once you realize how severely your behavior on the road can effect other people’s lives looking at your phone or going over the speed limit seems ridiculous. today someone blasted past me and a few other cars on a busy highway. we were all going the speed limit. it used to irritate me when people drove dangerously around me but now it not only makes me furious but it’s laughable. no matter how slow the car in front of you is going, no matter how late you are, it’s never worth the risk.
