Because they are people who put their lives in danger everyday to protect and serce you. It is a strange concept to me that they are in danger for their life by mere fact that they go to work. Your life isn't less worth than a cops, but you don't pit yourself at peril by going to work. The extra punishment should work as a deterrent to not kill a cop.
That’s not necessarily true to all police officers, my friends father was involved in a fatil hit and run and the suspect was driving drunk. He only received 2 years probation and 6 months community service. However in Anthony’s case this is wrong.
He killed an Asian couple first then went on a rampage where the off duty cop was trying to help him out. Ending up killing three innocent people.

It is called felony murder. Someone died while he was committing a felony. Cop or not. Felony murder is usually a capital offense, making it eligible for the death penalty. Anyone committing the felony with him would also be charged with the murder. If the cop had killed an accomplice he would still be charged with felony murder. It doesn't matter if it is your crime partner.

family matters You really don't seem to be understanding my point. Almost everyone who dies by the hand of a murderer has a family yet the murderer is allowed to live. You can't apply "what if the victim had a family" to this one case without considering other cases. Mass shooters are killing tens, hundreds of people who also have families. I really don't think I can talk about this anymore. Individuals have their own opinion which should be respected. I understand that you believe his death is justified but I don't, not with society's judicial system.

Layleny Rosete if you’d watch the body cam you can clearly see the police telling him to stop running (he was running from police by the way they didn’t know he was in his parents backyard) because he allegedly had been breaking people’s windows for whatever reason, in the body cam you can see that Stephon had something shiny in his hands that he was pointing at the officers, so they ducked into cover and, fearing that he actually was armed, shot.
Police don’t just kill African Americans because they feel like it, they give them instructions to follow, like drop your weapon, they disobey and then the police feel endangered so they shoot. It would be the same if it was a white person.
