    Everything you described also happened to me. Granulation stayed for 4 months but it's gone now. I still have scary moments, like a small prolapse. My dilation routine is 1 hour x3 a day. I have a sigmoid colon graft, which seems to need a lot more maintenance.

    • @DrJamieTalks
      @DrJamieTalks  Месяц назад +3

      @@TylwythTeg_NZ Thank you for sharing. Sorry you’ve run into some complications too. How is the colon lubrication? A part of me really wanted this procedure. My dilation sessions last about 30 minutes. Are one hour dilations standard for this procedure or are you concerned about losing depth? I apologize if any of these questions are intrusive.

    • @TylwythTeg_NZ
      @TylwythTeg_NZ Месяц назад +3

      No problem, I don't know anyone in my little community who had the same procedure and they're not great at sharing anyway. So, it is great to see people share in social media. The self lubrication is hard to tell during the heavy dilation routine because I need lots of lubricant and I need big pads to catch it all coming out. At times when I've missed dilation there is some leaking, which needs a thin pad. But it isn't enough for sex aparently, so you still need lubricant for that (although I haven't tried that yet). There may be enough for self-cleaning but dilation is also part of that regime.
      I'm not worried about losing depth -- I have 7 inches and the neo vagina is aparently 9 inches long. If I leave dilation for too long (very naughty of me), it gets tighter - but depth hasn't changed. Post op, the depth was 6 inches. The nurses said 8 inches was possible over time, but the supplied dilators are exactly 8 inches in total length --- they're only designed to go in 7 inches maximum.
      The granulation around the urethra worried me for a while, but then it just vanished. It was painful (and sometimes a little messy) to pee, but it healed naturally. I have more complications around digestion because of the shorter bowel and the long healing time. But I think none of these issues are 'complications' as such because they mostly righted themselves. I do wish the surgeons would provide more detailed information on what to expect though. Gosh I hope this isn't too detailed for RUclips 😂

    My first time seeing one of your videos. I think that to be using the green dilator so soon is quite an accomplishment. I had my GRS done in Thailand just over a year ago and after one or two set backs have just got back to the fourth dilator in the set. I have to say that granulation was a big thing in my recovery but I did find a sexual health doctor here in Australia who was able to treat me with Silver Nitrate. It took around six months but is good now. I shall subscribe to your channel for more updates.

      Hello. Thank you for the comment and welcome to the channel. I'm guessing my surgeon will need to use a little silver nitrate on the 25th of September. Stay tuned for an update video. Most girls I've talked to about this mention that things looked and felt pretty good by six months. 🥰

    You seem so so so so happy and relaxed in many ways! Perhaps it's just my perceptions but your affect seems brighter than in times past. You also addressed a few questions that had been rolling around in my head - I'd actually been wondering a bit about your creative work, and whether that was still ongoing - I am heartened to see that it is, and that you have persisted with these creative pursuits.
    I think it is important to do the kind of work you describe, "No matter what happens, I must do _____________"
    In my own experience I have too much made the things I wanted to do contingent upon external conditions that are not actual conditions that affect whether I can make good on my plans. This seldom helps even if I was able to convince myself that there was something artful about adding layers of significance to particular external conditions.
    From that perspective, I don't see my experience as a big mistake symptomatic of pathological thinking as much as I see it as a creative exercise that did not quite work out as I'd hoped. 🤫 💞💌

    Thanks for the update! Good to hear you're healing well!
    I'm curious as to your dilation requirements as I was told to start with three times per day and keep that up until the first post-op consultation, then reduce to twice a day, and thereafter use my judgement to reduce them about every two months to once a day, once every other day, twice a week, and eventually once a week after a year, and I'm now down to once a day. it was clearly enough as I haven't lost any depth and my consultant told me that I've done well with dilating. I already feel like I could drop to once every two days without problems right now, but I have granulation tissue deep inside me that has nearly fully healed but still needs me to insert a sugar cube every day. Was your requirement a special case due to complications?

    • @DrJamieTalks
      @DrJamieTalks  Месяц назад

      Hello. 🙂 I am following the regular dilation schedule used by Kaiser. I've noticed a lot of variation in schedules even locally. Now I'm curious as to whether there is actually any literature on the evidence base behind these different schedules. I suppose that might be a good video!
      P.S. Hoping your granulation tissue heals soon. Ouchie!

    • @robynrox
      @robynrox Месяц назад +1

      @@DrJamieTalks Thanks! It's not causing me any pain actually but it does mean a new period pad every day. (I could stretch that, but eww.) It would indeed be interesting to see how dilation schedules compare and the success or otherwise of each; I think my consultant has said in a video somewhere that most of us lose 1-2cm in depth but I don't know if that loss happened to people who didn't keep to the schedule. I think I've only missed one (they said missing the occasional one was okay).

    • @robynrox
      @robynrox Месяц назад

      I was thinking... If I had been told to dilate as much as you've been told, I probably would have opted for the aesthetic "shallow depth" option because I was already seriously considering that, and that may not have ultimately been the best decision for me, so I think it's a seriously useful area to research.

    It's been two months already?! This next month is where it starts to feel a lot better, be less of a goo factory. I found some granulations got fixed but I was helping them by bathing and air drying and some of that was some very awkward drying poses (that healed my fourchette!) The #4 orange - in Montreal, you get that right away but it's still nicer even in a single session to start off with a few minutes of #3.
    Glad things are going okay so far!

    It's so nice to see you back to yourself. You are right when you have to be present when you are with family. I have a very close army buddy(brother), that I spent some long needed time with this weekend.
    The last time I saw him I was way to focused coming out to him and and his kids. I could tell he was a put out. This time I gave all my time and e energy to him and where able to really connect again. We both shed a few tear when t the end of our time together. I also found out I'm going to be a great aunt at around Christmas time.

      The first week or so it kinda hurts. I think this is because everything is so swollen and hurts in general. I know some girls never go on to “Big Orange” 😅 I’m going to ask my surgeon about what he thinks. The thing I’ve noticed with dilation is that it takes a few minutes to get it to depth, so that adds some extra time to the process. I’m moving down to 3 dilations a day starting today 🥳 Overall, the pain and time is worth the reward imo
