Funny, palm oil is in about 50% of all supermarket products. It’s odourless and tasteless. I bet you think you can taste it in all your biscuits, cakes and sausage rolls 😂
This is a very good reaction to what is clearly a revolting product! It amazes me how this passed quality control. Thankfully you took one for the team, so we don’t have to buy them. The best vegetarian product I ever found was Tesco Glamorgan sausages. They are cheese and leek sausages, with no pretence of trying to emulate meat. Unfortunately though, they have been discontinued. As soon as my wife and I find something we love, they get discontinued! Anyway, thanks again.
Beyond brat sausage, Cauldron Lincolnshire, Taifan Tofu Weiners, Moving Mountains plant based hot dogs, Aldi Plant Menu battered sausages. All of these are good.
Talking about 'quality control'...The meat used for hot dogs is known as meat trimmings. Rather than discard the meat that is left over after the most choice cuts of an animal carcass are sent along to be served a la carte, the industry scrapes it to the bone (sometimes including the bone) and cooks it before turning it into a thick batter. Meat from an animal’s head, feet, liver, fatty tissue, lower-grade muscle, blood, and more can be included in what is described as “meat trimmings,” or the primary source of meat for hot dogs. If the ingredient list contains “byproducts” or “variety meats,” the meat may come from the snout, lips, eyes, or brains. Now, that in my opinion IS disgusting! Be very careful about what you put in your body.

Well, you're brave to try them, but I would never consider _any_ "food" that tries to be meat. I was glad for you that you had some ASDA sausages handy so the bun and onions were not wasted. This morning for breakfast I cooked 3 Cumberland chipolatas from Aldi, a fried egg from a farm up the road, a hash brown from Tesco and chestnut mushrooms sautéed in extra virgin olive oil. (Just the mushrooms in olive oil; the chipolatas were pan-fried in 8 minutes in sunflower oil, and I always fry my egg in butter.) Gareth... If it's horrible, then it's horrible - no need to apologise! Personally, I've never understood this desire on the part of the veggie/vegan groups, to name their dishes after MEAT products - Is it because they are trying to con the General Public, or are they just hypocrites who really just crave bacon, chicken, pork etc.... All the while virtue-signalling how good and so much better they are than genuine omnivores? Who knows? Actually, who cares? I don't bother them with my love of meat, and I'll thank them not to bother me with their choices in food...
I saw the thumbnail Gareth and just knew I had to watch this video...comedy gold 😄 Look and sound pretty disgusting, but when you think/know what goes into normal tinned/jar type hotdogs...well now that's the grossest thing trust me 😲 All the best on your recovery lol
I bought some vegan "chicken" slices in Tesco in Ireland and I had exactly the same reaction. The taste and texture was horrible. It tasted like actual mechanically-recovered chicken slices from years ago. Absolutely vile!
Meat-free scares me! I enjoy all vegetables prepared in many ways but not mashed and minced and masquerading as a "meatfree" sausage ... imo they are messed up veg croquettes!
Does make me wonder when they make these alternatives do they actually get meat eaters to try them at the tasting stage? Imo if you are trying to replicate the taste & texture of meat surely a meat eater is the only one who can help advise on a product, even though it is aimed at a different market sector?...
I went vegetarian earlier this year & all was going well for about 6 weeks until I decided to buy loads of the frozen plant based food. After the 3rd evening of throwing the food in the bin, I was so furious , I ended up frying a nice steak! When I actually read the ingredients on the back I was shocked how much processed crap was in them!
Sounds like my vegetarian experiance!!😂. I once started craving meat so bad and my blood levels were low so I just gave in and scoffed a donor kebab!😂😂
I'm vegan and I had the same reaction to a quorn burger recently, it was vile. I was honestly surprised. Thanks for this review, I will give these "hot dogs" a pass.
LMAO, that's exactly the same reaction I had when I (accidentally) tried a vegan sausage. You are a braver man than I am giving it a second try. Mine went straight into the bin.
I love this review👍As a vegetarian of 30 years this was some of the worst veggie food I've had too. Tesco used to do fab hotdogs but discontinued them, sadly.
This is what makes me laugh, if you're vegan why would you want a vegan sausage, vegan burger, vegan bacon, vegan chicken, vegan cheese or any replacement for what should be a meat product or dairy product , you are either a vegan or your not , vegans stop lying to use and saying your vegan and care about animals and then want substitutes for animal and dairy products, I wouldn't put any plant based or meat free products anywhere near my mouth

Nowt wrong with a fried onion sarnie. I just don't get this plant based crap. Why do they create stuff to look like meat and give it meaty names. I'd rather eat a piece of fried bog roll.

Gareth...
Yes John. Horrid they are.
I bought some vegan "chicken" slices in Tesco in Ireland and I had exactly the same reaction. The taste and texture was horrible. It tasted like actual mechanically-recovered chicken slices from years ago. Absolutely vile!
Although you made me chuckle, I could feel your disgust lol! Must have been really rank for you not to like them...even just a little.
Yes they were nasty.
@@BaldFoodieGuy no amount of onions or mustard would improve the taste of those monstrosities.
I'm afraid not.
How do you know if someone's a vegan? Don't worry, they'll tell you.
Gareth, I'm dying here man, it's banged it darn all day here but you've just made a crap day brilliant 🤣🤣🤣👍
Haha cheers Mark.
I tried the vegan bacon it tasted like shoe leather 🤮
Absolutely hilarious! I'm grateful for you trying those as it will hopefully prevent any of the rest of us suffering! 😂
Haha yes
I just pissed myself laughing at your reaction 😂
This made me laugh out loud 😂 thanks for your honesty 💜💜💜
Cheers Barbie 😍👍👍
Wow pmsl when your face changes 🤣🤣🤣
I went vegetarian earlier this year & all was going well for about 6 weeks until I decided to buy loads of the frozen plant based food. After the 3rd evening of throwing the food in the bin, I was so furious , I ended up frying a nice steak! When I actually read the ingredients on the back I was shocked how much processed crap was in them!
Only vegetarian sausages I find palatable are Linda Mccartneys some of these fake meat alternatives are not great I went pescartarian two months ago
Sounds like my vegetarian experiance!!😂. I once started craving meat so bad and my blood levels were low so I just gave in and scoffed a donor kebab!😂😂
Omg I know I’m late to this one but bloody hell that really can’t be good Gaz…. Really wish I hadn’t paused this at 10:10 to write this tho 🤣
I'm vegan and I had the same reaction to a quorn burger recently, it was vile. I was honestly surprised. Thanks for this review, I will give these "hot dogs" a pass.
You're so welcome!
RUclips GOLD right there lol. Write to Aldi I’d love to hear their response
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great reaction!!! That is exactly what vegan hotdogs deserve
Here after the toastie hotdog review 😂😂😂😂. Hard to decide which Gareth found more boughfing 🤢
Instant classic video!
You're a brave man!
Turn the reaction into a short and this time next year you'll be a millionaire!
Haha cheers.
You need to do a compilation, The 10 worst and 10 best reactions! 😅😅😅
LMAO, that's exactly the same reaction I had when I (accidentally) tried a vegan sausage. You are a braver man than I am giving it a second try. Mine went straight into the bin.
Haha not good
One of the colour ingredients listed is iron oxide, commonly known as rust!
I love this review👍As a vegetarian of 30 years this was some of the worst veggie food I've had too. Tesco used to do fab hotdogs but discontinued them, sadly.
Sorry to hear that
Used to love those hotdogs, they were my fav 😭
Try Moving Mountains hot dogs or Taifan Tofu Weiners, both are good.
I want to congratulate you Gareth on how your channel is growing, and how you've improved a LOT from your early videos. Your fun personality just shines through! You're never less than entertaining! 😂 ...... That's the first time I've seen you spit something out! It was priceless! Keep up the good work. Like I said, you're a natural! 👍 EDIT: Take 'em back for a refund! 💰
Haha cheers Clive👍👍😋
I needed a good laugh and you certainly delivered Gareth. 🤣👌
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done for trying these! I am doing my best to be vegetarian/pescatarian and not have meat. Haven’t eaten any pork products in decades. But I totally agree that all this fake ‘meat ‘ is utter shite.
Cheers
I can believe that. I had a cup a soup from Aldi years ago and it was rank. I think their processed food is bad but veg/fruit good.
Oh Gareth that was so funny! as soon as you put it in your mouth we could see it tasted discusting! Thank you for another honest review and for making me laugh x
The most disgusting thing I ever tasted was the spray the nurse sprays your throat with prior to a gastroscopy.
Cheers Sandra x
I tried the Linda Macartney vegetarian sausages from sainsburys years ago. Disgusting, greasy, horrible.
I didn't find Linda Mccartneys ones too bad but them Aldi ones are foul it is hard finding meat free alternatives that are decent
You should try Richmond meat free sausages, they're the closest thing I've tried to the real thing. Slap a couple on some bread add some sauce and you could almost imagine they're the meat version.
Cheers
All Richmond products are shite.
Funny thing is Gareth was only worried bowt his onions 🤣
Haha yes
The reaction from you was priceless.
Well done, you have found a cure for Veganism and Vegetarianism in one go.👍 Spot on as usual
You at least tried but you are a meat eater and you will find it too hard to adapt o soya . Soya does not taste of anything it is the product that let you down not vegan foods. You see most make their own versions.May I suggest the Linda McCartney sausages . There are several flavours and these taste really nice. You also can fry onions in water just a little and keep moist as you cook in a non stick pan. HIlL naturalLy caramelise so gIVE tHESE A try too.

Nowt wrong with a fried onion sarnie.
I just don't get this plant based crap. Why do they create stuff to look like meat and give it meaty names. I'd rather eat a piece of fried bog roll.
I am vegetarian, not tried these as they are not available where I live. However the cheap stuff is never very good. I have had veggie hot dogs but boiling then is a crime anyway.😂
Should just be called disgusting plant based food.
I bought some plant based mince think it was from lidl or aldi on special offer in the discount section, never again it was like doing a bush tucker trial on im a celeb, even when cooked it looked the same colour, and it stuck to the pan when cooking it, absolutely terrible. And to make it worse i had bought two of them, the second one went straight in the bin unopened., never again.
No surprise really when you showed the ingredients it was all chemicals
That stuff is WAY worse for you than processed meat. Its not healthy at all and tastes and smells terrible.
This is why we were born bloody Carnivores Lol 😂 mate Xx
😂So they weren’t your favourite then? Lol
Haha the worse ever
Give them to the dog if you have one. See what happens, it will probably leave home feeding him that cr**. Noooooooooo
Try Richmond meat free sausages I recommend them they nice
A Classic video Gareth , Well funny your reaction was Gold Hahahaha
Cheers Gaz, these were the worst.
Mate I don’t know why the call these monstrosity’s burgers hot dogs steaks or sausages there not meat there plant based shit 😂
Haha yes
Not laughed so much in a long time. That face LOL.
I can understand people who want to be vegetarian or even vegan but why then do they see the need for meat substitutes ? So their vegetarian but still want to eat meat, sausages, bacon etc ? Think as a non vegetarian these substitutes are to be avoided lol
Are you saving them for the wife 😂🤣👍
I am a bit of a veggie but looking at them give me a bacon sandwich please!
I watched a documentary about what went into meat hotdogs. They contain so much revolting pig parts which were on show to the public, a child was in tears. Yeeeeeuch 😝😝
Yes they do fill them with rubbish scraping off the floor lol. I got some great sausage sent to me from Costco. Were really good. Not veggie though.
@@BaldFoodieGuy scrapings off the floor would've been preferable to what they showed 🤮
That was hilarious, Gareth! 😂😂😂
Now you know why lions don't eat salads.
haha
Brilliant Gareth…The horror, reminds me of the death nut challenge.🤮
I liked them better 🤣🤣🤣
3.30am and I've just rolled off thesettee with laughter.....Gareth you need a medal for just trying them.
Haha thank you 🤣🤣😋😋😋
Considering how you like 99% of things you review. I believe you when you say something is bad.
These are not good.
