Man don't give me Hope 😓
I really want to see XCOM 3 take the fight to the alien home worlds, liberating them to gain new assets, classes and races. I want to see a base layer with bases all over a region of the galaxy, something like Star Wars Rebellion's galaxy layer with actual ship to ship combat (doesn't need to be real time or turn based, it can just play out statistically in a quick cutscene like the originals). Really want to see some diplomacy and political wrangling mechanics. Doesn't need to be super deep, keep it a logistical/strategic focused game, but something to manage the opinions and goals of different factions. A faction system I guess.
I feel like that is the only course to take. And also why it's probably taking so long. Literally all new world maps, destinations, materials etc. It has to be a huge undertaking. I'm still playing Xcom2 regularly. I hope all this time has been spent between games has been spent well
I doubt this is the case.
The newer Xcom games are still remakes of the older series.
From the ending of Xcom 2, and what happened after the original Enemy Unknown. It seems like we're going to have to fight a whole new species from our oceans.
Though, this idea could happen when they remake Apocalypse.
Except that's not what xcom is. Xcom is about being the underdog, struggling for supplies, not about playing stellaris. Plus there's always terror from the deep as a direction
@@neuu8708 Plus Terra Invicta is available. Really enjoying it's gameplay. It really feels like it was made by people who loved XCOM and saw the same potential I did, with how compelling that world map really is. The only thing it's missing is the ground level squad mechanics. I think it's only a matter of time before someone releases a mod that merges XCOM combat with Tera Invicta's overmap.... Can't wait.
I think XCOM 3 might be much bigger and more complicated than XCOM 2.
I think Chimera Squad gave us a taste of what XCOM 3 will be like. My guess is that you will be able to recruit alien squad members so there will be a huge increase in the number of available classes. I think the story might be about earth going out and liberating all the aliens that were enslaved by the Ethereal and you get to recruit more alien squad members as you free their worlds.
Isn't the story going in the direction of "The Ethereals were not the real threat all along"?
@@haywoco2 I doubt thst
@@theclone9123., are you sure, that’s kinda what they’ve been implying with several lines made by the elders during the final battles and the Templar epilogue in WOTC. More specifically, it’s suggesting that it’s going to do its own take on the Terror from the Deep story from the OG xcom games.
@@tokusatsukeyblade797 thatd still be from the elders
@@theclone9123. The aliens from Terror-from-the-Deep where a whole different nation of Aliens.
They had no connections to the original aliens.
Feel like they have to do it. With all these other games coming out cloning them, they need to show everyone who Daddy is
I really hope we will be able to bring more than 6 soliders on missions or maybe vehicles like tanks
I started playing Terror From The Deep again. The music and underwater sound give so much ambiance
XCOM 3 NEEDS TO HAPPEN😭
I still hope it will be a sequel to Terror from the Deep. Where are we honest. X-Com 2 still lives today mainly from the mods. The basic game is awesome, but it got really awesome because of the fans who rebuilt the mechanics, added cooler outfits and weapons without shredding the balacing. I'm not sure if I should get my hopes up for the next part.
PC Xcom lives because Mods
Console xcom Lives Because?
I'm addicted to xcom that's why
Bound to be right at some point if you keep making a prediction every year...
Hold up, a new Brothers in Arms game was on that leak too? Maybe there is still hope...
unlikely for a 2023 release date seems like they’ve been working on midnight suns this whole time
I think if the game would come to shelves that soon, we would already hear something about it, though I did not really look when X-com 2 was announced etc.
would be very nice to play xcom 3, would definetely buy it and enjoy playing it!
Are you south african? Accent sounds familiar to our english speakers.
Would love to see xcom 3.
Well it’s a lil easier to fix an unfamiliarity in the setting by having a flood system the aliens are causing similar to the avatar project meter that raises the water level. Causing flooded towns to be part of the levels the more you fail to keep the meter down which makes underwater bases make sense for the main loop of a TFTD style game for the 3rd entry.
The sadness and bleak mood of seeing places people lived worked and fueled up in being submerged.
Certain terror missions being a mix of flooded buildings on a lower section of a hill town where some people are trapped on roofs while others are on the higher elevation as the sea aliens advance to take them out, you have to stop them.
New sea aliens and ways it’s done on top of having ufo’s with the USO’s forcing you to have two avenues of attack you have to manage as the game goes on.
End game being way way more alien like 2 was with the blacksites till you push them back fully and destroy the new invasion.
As for chimera squad being canon this could take place after or before still very easily.
Fighting advent remnants on top of the new invaders to keep a varied enemy roster if they can’t think of very much for the sea invaders.
we are waiting for x-com 3 for a very long time. I think I can wait one year more.
In my opinion, it's DEFINITELY in development. It's a very popular franchise and I just don't see Firaxis looking the other way. My guess That Midnight Suns game will do well initially but not get near Xcom 2.
DIdn't Chimerea sell like crap tho?
@@kaczan3 Oh yea well I don't really consider Chimera Squad a normal X-com game. But ya I would assume it did, I actually didn't buy it either.
@@Mustang1984 The downfall of this series is heartbreaking. I started watching a Let's Play now, and I forgot how polished the first modern XCOM was. And how it streamlined the turn system and made it appealing to the masses, while still being deep.
I'm actually not a fanatic of turn based combat games, but I'd still give the forst modern XCOM a 10/10 grade
@@kaczan3 Yea I actually like XCOM 2 WOTC the best, and then XCOM 1 a close second. I just think they did it perfectly! I VERY excited to see what they add onto or change in the REAL next XCOM game.
Yeah Hopefully we see Xcom 3 In the next 1-3 years
Also I'd like to point out chimera squad isn't an main game it's like water to the whole damn menu So it's understandable
I think it's time to move backwards in the timeline, much like XCOM Declassified. XCOM acting as the actual secret paramilitary force against extraterrestrial threat as they supposed to but set in the peak of the Cold War. That would be awesome.
Wouldn't mind if they restarted with more darker grittier and horror like first contact scenarios. Or at least toned down the cartoon looks.
What’s going on with XCON 3!?? 🙄
XCom 2 Kind of peaked the idea. You can go the route of taking the fight off world, this could work. The Xcom formula is always the underdog so if you did, you got to come up with a great set of mechanics. The project lead dislikes Terror as fighting over alien looking terrain isn't as emotionally impactful as cites and gas stations. Build the world right and actually it could be. Mix RPG a little in there.
@PirateCat91 I get you. But that game was... Well I'm with the Dev of Xcom unknown. You feel an obligation, an emotional connection to Gas stations and the like. Xcom 2pushed it. Retreating to the sea? No. A few fans might be happy but it doesn't push the "boat out" pun intended.
It could be a "System Shock to Bioshock" but it would be what we already got just undersea. Where we have no sense of ownership or defence and the player switches off after 6 missions. Because who cares? IF and I stress IF Xcom was to expand? It expands outward and goes full sci fi franchise story building, or don't bother.
You add a "strategy" layer that's galactic? You can expand there. Under the sea? You get nothing but fan service and deus ex machina. THE X WE FOUND DOES Y. Galactic strategy? Now we are cooking. You get the modders salivatin at Star Wars conversionmods whilst advancing the XCOM lore off world and realising. "oh crap, It's bigger than Earth."
You liberated the great barrier reef? Or you just liberated Omercron Lyrie? So you can funnel supplies through a star system? Or on a planet the aliens bombarded you back to?
I'd go Galactic VS oceanic any day and new players want to feel empowered.
I hope they keeps xcom2 style character creation and levelling. I hated chimera squads characters . I love xcom2 and the atmosphere and attachment to the characters I have every single time I play it. I would say more cosmetics attachments like military belts and harness and backpacks. Also lean more towards the horror side with some aliens . Plus may be a visible wound system. Also a chance to attack when you get ensnared if your characters make there physiological checks. Plus stick to humans vs aliens. Chimera squad was a bit stupid.
Chimera squad was awesome and its canon, so back peddling now would be dumb.
i want play xcom3 from japan.
2023 release plz!!
i need difficult game.
XCOM 3 probably got delayed because WB games trademarked the nemesis system
Why wait for Xcom3? play Phoenix Point.
I'd rather fight aliens then sea crabs
@@theclone9123. If Xcom 3 will be Terror From The Deep, you will still fight sea crabs.
I really don't think this is going to happen. Sorry man, although I think it will flop with the XCom crowd, Midnight Suns has the potential to be a bigger revenue generator.
Judging by what Chimera Squad looked like, XCOM 3 will be all about menstrual blood paintings.
