Coming from an Escalade, I couldn't believe the power and handling even the 50i brought to the table. Sidenote: Any idea if the M50i comes with the BMW display key, or two regular smart keys? I'd honestly prefer 2 non display keys
It's a stand alone option but I'd suspect the dealers are going to order them with every option they possibly can...the rule is that early adopters will buy everything and late adopters pay for nothing so load up the first few waves of a product and don't check a single box on the last few waves of a product. We also had an Escalade that we loved but there's no comparison between the driving experience of the X7 and the Cadillac...though we did love the space in the Cadillac... a lot.
Not really, the x7 and x5 50i came out in 2019, the m50i version was 2020, so if someone purchased in 2019, they will not just go trade it in and lose a ton just to get m50i, I’ve had the x5 50i m sport and now have the m50i and the speed is not far apart to be honest, I did a 4.2 0-60 in the m50i and 4.4 in the 50i. The m50i is bmws performance division for those who don’t want a base, also don’t want the aggressiveness of the M, perfect balance and only 75hp down from the M, the n63 engine can get tuned very easily and will be much faster regardless.
I'm such a big fan of that motor that I'm probably too biased. Will it go 200,000 miles? Yes. The 6 is their bread and butter engine but the N63 is just awesome
"A new Aluminum Alloy" - now I'm worried again......Was looking at the X7 40i vs the M50i. I will be buying it outright (no finance) and keeping it. What say you??
This is the price you pay for performance I guess. :/ it’s a very expensive price. But this is precisely the kind of car that straight up embarrasses sports cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camero in a straight line. One can talk about the fun you get in the corners from a BRZ or Type R, but when you get outgunned on the highway or from every stop light, it takes a wise man to know when to concede. With 523hp, most people will wish they didn’t buy the slower Audi/Mercedes/Jaguar/Cadillac SUV’s. At least the Acura MDX/Infiniti Qx60 driver can claim they saved money by buying a much cheaper humbler luxury car. However, then again why would one ever want to drive so fast in Hawaii. One of the greatest things is to be caught in light rain at night on the highway away from the city or big island. Just slowdown and take in the great roads and scenery. No ugly billboards, just open air. But hey even if you’re a city guy open up the sun roof and take in the energy of the beautiful tourist districts.

People give us such a hard time on the Big Island because we drive so slow...they don't realize we're not in a hurry to get to our desired destination because wherever we are, we're already here. The whole island is amazing, every day of every year. Just get an old motorcycle and enjoy the good vibes.
What’s the point of a comparison if you don’t make a recommendation for one or the other at the end. We already know it’s a good vehicle. Is it worth the extra money to get the upgrade or not? Come on! Stop wasting people’s time 🙄
Adrian Flatt umm, that’s up to the individual. Ask yourself, is it worth an extra 10k to go to 60 in about a second faster and to sport all the m logos around your car. I say yes, others say no. It’s up to u kidd
I would say m50i because if you spec them both out there’s only like a $4K difference.Build and price them on the bmw website. So yeah it’s just the power difference M logos and more features standard like 22’ wheels and it comes with an off-road package for the m50i standard.
Found a crazy good deal on a 2019 50i fully loaded but tough to justify the extra 15k for the HP bump. Also they make a tune to equal power.

The display key is no longer available on the MY20 X7s. They were always optional anyway so you should be fine, getting two regular keys..(;

Comparing the X7 M50i to the X7 50i is like comparing the M5 to the M550i. People with money go for the higher end vehicle (X7 M50i / M5).
