The Cape is best between just after Labor Day and Columbus Day. The crowds are mostly gone, the traffic jams have lessened. And the waters along yhe southern coast are still warm enough to swim in. Fares for the car ferry to MV start going down. As a long time Massachusetts resident, I stay away from the Cape during the summer. Also, it's not unusual to have 6 mile backups at the bridges to either get on the Cape or off the Cape
@Troy Cote Oh wow, that's a tough one! Mac's has delicious seafood, the Squire is an institution (you can't go wrong there!) And Brax has amazing views! Really, all are wonderful and a very hard choice to choose just one (try to fit all 3 in!)
Sandwich and all along 6A is beautiful. Nothing like Harwichport/Chatham/Orleans for me. And definitely yes for a trip to Provincetown, one of a kind. Nice clip....
Spent most of my summer at my Aunts cottage in Dennisport and later in Chatham. Both of my late parents worked at the Chathsm Bars Inn during the summer. This was in the early 1940's before the war.
Yes Chatham is one of my favorite places quaint and beautiful with the mansions and the Beautiful Lighthouse overlooking the Grand Ocean and Sandy Dunes and the seals all lined up basking in the Sun
And it's not just ocean swimming to be had; one thing people never seem to ever mention or talk about is that there are actually quite a lot of very decently sized lakes on Cape Cod too.
This is so cool! Thinking about moving here with my pregnant wife and my violinist daughter for a few months in the winter to get some writing inspiration
We're so happy to hear it, glad we were able to give you ideas! If you need a place to stay, be sure to visit our website, www.WeNeedaVacation.com for a Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, or Nantucket rental!

Thank you, had happy to make the connection! Hopefully the opportunity for you to book through our site will arise again in the future -- perhaps we can still connect in the meantime!
very nice coverage in 8 minutes. I live on the Cape in Barnstable. let's not forget our other seasonal guests - sharks. so you all be careful in the salt water, or stick to the lakes and ponds.
Noooo….I would avoid the lakes and ponds nowadays as much as possible, algae blooms because of global warming in the summer, if are concerned about sharks then just go to a beach that’s not on the open ocean.
Dennis Port is beautiful with lots to do (Dennis on the bayside is also nice...but a bit honky tonk...but still nice). Dennis Port has more of a 'beachy village feel' where you can get to everything on foot.
What? As someone who lives in Dennis during the summer you have this completely wrong, Dennisport is by far the only part of it that could be considered “honkey tonk”? 6A side boasts the most expensive real estate along with upscale neighborhoods, Dennisport is closest to blue collar neighborhoods.
the Townies generally do not have much patience for the tourists... some town beaches like in Bourne, are closed to outsiders unless you go buy an expensive beach pass at the city hall ... some towns forbid any overnight public street parking to keep tourists from parking their RVs on their streets...and or at the beach... Some communities get really upset at any visitors stopping or parking except at a store or mall... I grew up on the Cape and was back there last in 2018.
I can definitely say this is true. Grew up in Hyannis, centerville and west Yarmouth. I think it’s more of the traffic is summer time that made us annoyed at tourists lol. Trying to get off cape in summer time was terrible.
Great job Jennie. The Cape and Islands are easily my favorite region of the northeast. We were lucky enough to live on the Vineyard for 5 years. I don't know if someone out there can answer this question; Years ago I went to a beach, pretty sure it was in the town of Brewster. At the right time in the tide cycle you could walk out a quarter mile and the water was only up to your mid thighs. It may have been something like Cahoon Hollow or Calhoun Hollow. Does that sound right?
Thank you, Shevet! Let's see . . . there's an ocean beach in Wellfleet called Cahoon Hollow, but in Brewster (the town where the tide goes out for miles!) the beaches are: Crosby Beach, Breakwater Beach, Saints Landing, Robbins Hill, Paine's Creek, Ellis Landing, Linnell Landing, Point of Rocks Beach, Mant's Landing, and a new one this year-First Light! Do any of these sound familiar to you? We hope you get the chance to come back and wade back in to lovely Cape Cod Bay!
@@WeneedavacationCapeCod Thank you. They don't sound familiar but I'm pretty sure it was in Brewster and also from what you described I'm certain that's the area.
What you’re talking about is Great Island in Wellfleet, that is also going to be overrun by rising sea levels in a few decades, or the outer parts of it will be.
Visited Cape Cod for the first time since moving to Mass from DC Northern VA region and I must say, I had a blast!.. can't wait to go back in the summer months! Thanks for all the guide and tips! Will be sure to check out your website should we need to book a bigger place :)
I beg to differ.. Hyannis is one of our favorite town to stay due to its ample of shops and restaurants it offers.. you must have had a bad experience - if so.. sorry to hear.
@@beefen7921 i live on cape cod, that was just a joke about the crime in Hyannis. I do agree it does have the best options for restaurants and shops though.
I've lived and summered on the Cape most of my 74 years , but please it's "ON the Cape", not "In the Cape"! Also, it's not a peninsula anymore, hasn't been ever since the put the Cape Cod Canal in, in 1912! So, technically it's an island surrounded by water on four sides, the Cape Cod Bay, the great Atlantic ocean, Nantucket Sound and the Cape Cod Canal! Have fun and drive safely, the roads here are the same ones they had in the 1800s only paved over! This is not the Indianapolis 500! Parts of the highways are called "Suicide Alley" because so many have been killed here thinking this is the 500! And please no littering, help keep "America, the Beautiful", beautiful! Thanks~♥♥🏖
The “Suicide Alley” was in reference to the section of Rte. 6 between Harwich and the Orleans rotary, and this was mostly in the ‘80s before the installation of the mid-lane barrier that is there now, vehicles would sometimes cross the middle lane at high speed resulting in head-on collisions, and I remember in ‘88 or ‘89 there was one such event of a single mother and I think two of her kids all died. Also, the Cape used to have its own TV station the “Cape 11 Alive” and there may have been a second one. I believe just days ago there may have also been another event there despite the barriers, will have to recheck the news.
This was a total joke, only talked about beaches, shopping and ice cream. So much more is offered here on the cape let alone didn’t even bother to talk about the islands.
The goal of this video is to give a broad overview, and pertained to Cape Cod only. We have a videos for Nantucket: ruclips.net/video/3OwKsCsS-vI/видео.html and the Vineyard as well: ruclips.net/video/mGwltuNz5RE/видео.html

Lucky! Such a fantastic place!

It's a wonderful area and has inspired many creatives, Ryan Murphy would agree, yes? (haha!)
This is supposed to be funny right?😂

Perfect! You got all of the facts about The Cape correct! That's hard to do... You showed my home! =)
Love the Seagull beach in West Yarmouth

Thanks for the kind words, Bernie -- glad to hear you had a good time while visiting!
If you want to visit the cape dont expect to spend anything less than 1k on a little shack

You forgot the eating people sharks
The music is too loud... too bad
Visit Cape Cod before it disappears underwater :S
WHERE IS HYANNIS?? YOU FORGOT THE BIGGEST ANS MOST POPULATED TOWN ON CAPE. How can anything in this be accurate??
Hyannis is a village in Barnstable, and is mentioned at the 2:50 mark.
How is Orleans mass.
Barnstable is a county.
