I think that Maximus has no idea of the history of "The Great War" of 2077, and the only "bombs dropping" that he knows were the one in Shady Sands where he had lived.

I figure if Maximus had actually read the manual he'd have known about the emergency release mechanism. Because even in the lore there are holotapes of power armor users noting they'd run out of power, so they left it behind.

i think FALLOUT is a better adaptation of a game than THE LAST OF US, simply cause it manages to tell a brand new story inside a perfectly captured gameworld, that is connected to everything by being canon in the canon game timeline and not "simply" adapting the story (yet expanding and changing a bit) the story of one of the games like TLOU did. and dont get me wrong: i looooved TLOU HBO!!!
I love how much this feels, looks and sounds like the games, the gore and humor is spot on. its perfect!

I think the same way. TLOU HBO is great overall, but it gives you almost nothing that you didn't know already. Unless you didn't play the game somehow, which is almost impossible.

The Last of Us show was terrible. From adapting the game story poorly, to the directors and showrunners putting their own ideology and dogma into it, it was bad.
Fallout, however, is amazing!!!! What you described is a great piont on it not being beholden to another story. But they also just did a great job.

I think part of why this works is the Fallout setting and how it's not focused on a specific protagonist across its franchise. It opens up possibilities for a story to be told from different perspectives.

Mine is that we see Thaddeus has some kind of key we've never seen in the games before. I assume this is a key that both prevents people from getting into the PA if they don't have the key already by locking it shut and was a modification the Brotherhood made. Seems like the kind of technical they would include. Add a key to lock the suit, keep the core in place when in use but prevent entering the suit when not in use.
He just used it to lock someone in.

If you two haven't seen something with Ella Purnell in it before, you two might check out "Arcane". It's another great video game adaption show. The first season has been out for years, and the second one will be out November, this year. Might be good to react to the first season when the hype for season two is starting to build up. It's a great show, won many awards, and you don't need to know anything about the game. There are nine episodes total. You can watch them one at a time, or three at a time. When Netflix released it, it was three at a time for a reason. Nobody ever listens to me, but skip the intros. I feel there is too much spoiler in it, people that don't already know spoilers from having played the game are able to deduce future plot from it. I've seen it happen over and over. Anyways, good luck bears.

Dang, I can't remember exactly how it happened in the show, but there's a really, really quick shot at 12:44 in this video, and the frame skipping is wild. The shot cuts to Maximus' hand reaching for the gun in Lucy's holster. His left hand touches the gun, then the gun just disappears entirely, he pulls his left hand back, the hand is empty. Then the wide shot cuts to the gun in Maximus' RIGHT hand. I'm not saying that there's a mistake or anything, it's not a nitpick, it's just interesting because I would imagine the Fallout show is a higher framerate than the reaction video's framerate.

17:20 Fallout 1 was 2161, 85 years after the bombs fell. Fallout 76 was only 26 years after the bombs fell in 2102. Fallout 4 was 2287, and the show is 2296. The bombs in Fallout Life fell in 2077, and the bomb that destroyed Shady Sands happened in 2281.
So Max just thinks the bombs dropped when he was a kid in 2281. He was either lied to, or just culturally different where he was born in this world so he thinks 'the bombs dropping' were the event he experienced. I think it is more of a lie from his chapter in the brotherhood.

Shady Sands was the _first_ Capitol. FIRST. That billboard said so. It was put up _after_ the Capitol was moved elsewhere. And the billboard was clearly put up _before_ the city got nuked.
That move is probably what "The Fall of Shady Sands" refers to. The nuking came later, when Maximus was a kid. And since Max and Lucy can't be much older than 22, the nuking could easily have been a short time _after_ New Vegas. The timing would be tight, but it still fits.
      THERE WAS NO RETCON.

    19:00
Wouldn't it be wildly horrifying if Vault 32 got cleaned up so fast by waking up a few of Bud's buds and then putting them back in the sleepy clink afterward?
Honestly, what's weird is that the simpler explanation should make more sense, but it doesn't. If the residents of Vault 33 believed that the Raiders from the Surface killed everyone in Vault 32, it would make sense for them to be like, "Okay, we're gonna see some really fucked up shit, but we gotta clean Vault 32 up after the Raiders came in and killed everybody, and our kids would be in therapy for centuries if we told them about this, so we'll do this in secret."
But, even then, wouldn't at least one or two of the adults be like, 'Yeah... that was way more fucked up than we thought it was going to be - they weren't killed by Raiders. Those people killed each other."
Not even so much as a "Geez Louise, Betty."
And, even THEN, look at how these guys casually cleaned up Vault 33 after Muldaver's initial attack in the first episode. Even the suspiciously positive old guy was like, "Today sucks, Norm. My day is as bad as everyone else's. The fuck is wrong with you?"
The vaults are literally Plato Caves.

    Maximus.
    What did you do?
    Where’s Knight Titus?
    They’re gonna kill you.
It’s the Brotherhood. They’ll find out.
No part of that sounded obviously against Maximus, at least to me. He didn't say he would tell them, or that he wouldn't lie. He just sounded shocked and a bit scared of both the Brotherhood and Maximus himself, since he was inadvertently giving the impression that he had murdered Titus.
