Did you consider a G20a swap - Honda 5 cylinder? The only downside is the lack of dope aftermarket parts because it is a relatively rare engine. It was only featured in the JDM Honda Vigor/1 gen Inspire and likewise. On the other hand the Acura Vigor with the G25a was sold in the US of A.
Hey bro this just popped up into my recommended. My boy Sean is the kid you sold this car to and the motor dropped a valve last week. We’re in the process of swapping it now just waiting on him to get a new motor
Live the vid bro, I took notes on the whole thing. I'm about to do an engine swap with my Pops over the weekend for the exact same reason, sound, make, and model. Even though this vid is 3 years old, it goes over any questions I would have. I may post again after all is said and done. Thanks again
When the new engine was started it had the sound of a timing belt that's too tight. Not sure if it's possible on these cars, don't know what the tensioner looks like. But something to look into
These evolutions often take turns, sometimes for the best, and ever one worst case. You'll work through it with time and a little luck. Hope you find the code is a bad sensor or a bad pin in the harness. Most of the ECU stuff only has 5 volts any ways so just the smallest bit of voltage drop somewhere throws codes when values don't meet the map parameters. Take care.
1.7 inline single over head cam are the best for Honda i Owen one 1987 250 km on it no problem just needed a new battery I payed $500 running easy to check alternator etc
Really!! i have a 02 accord, runs like a 2017 LOL. Only thing it sits low and the rims i have scrub when i hit a bump so i drive slow.. thinking of getting the fenders cut.
Just to let you know in the future the jdm driver side mount needs to be changed from your old engine which involves the removal of main pully, valve cover, timing cover, and power steering pump bracket.
Wait does that happen? Because the cruise stopped working on my 05. Maybe the throttle body is bad??? I've never heard of this issue. But.... honda... could be anything, except for the fuse because I checked that
Nice that you threw in the ac discharge disclaimer as you washed all of your degreaser, oils, and grease right into the soil. Why do people do that? Take it to a damn car wash!
Hey I have a 01 Honda civic lx non vtec automatic my transmission just went out and I have a buddy parting out his 04 civic but it’s a vtec would he’s transmission work on my car?
Can you make a video on cleaning and engine and the engine bay. Mine is a huge mess and is kinda over whelming the more I get into it. I literally want to pull the engine out to clean it
Same here bro. One time my civic spilled it's coolant over the road (corroded retaining clip on the hose to rad). I drove it quite a few miles before I realised the temp gauge was all the way up. That car is still being used today, no damage. Got to love Honda.
I have a Honda Civic 1.4 hatchback and am wondering what car body I could put it in (the engine) because I bought it new, it had very low mileage and is well taken care of. Can any car take this engine or would I need the exact same car? I live abroad and cars are very expensive, so I prefer to save my car if possible. The problem with my car is that the upper wishbone arms break all the time and I need to get the car tested twice a year and pass (it is the law where I am living). The arms cost me $200 approx, so it is $400 a year in parts, then add the work and all the other tiny problems so the cost of the upkeep of the car is more than the entire car is worth. Or do you have another suggestion? Thanks in advanced
First of all I would like to thank you for posting this video video. I am going to be doing a similar swap to what you completed. Can you please respond with a list of additional parts you had to buy new? Fluids, gaskets, belts, hoses, motor mounts etc...
Hey hoping you could share what you did about that idle position cam sensor? Just did a similar swap have one simple two copper wire sensor on my harness with no female port on the new engine, wondering if you had to so a similar fix. Thanks
Man one of the first start up automotive youtubers to actually know what they're doing and work with cheap cars they bought themselves... I love it!
so glad you understand the concept! thanks for the motivation!

Just goes to show you how good honda engine are runs with a hole in the block😁👍👌
Jdm Garage uhm, Hate to admit this......but I just went to valvoline a few days ago, There was no oil in my car.
I been driving my Honda with a burnt valve for about one month now lol Honda last for ever real talk
Dollars to donuts, no Ford or Chevy engine will run with a hole in the block!

Even with a hole in the block can’t kill a civic 🤣
legendary!🤣🤣 that's an honda engine for you!! first video I ever seen on RUclips where an engine turns on with a whole on the BLOCK!!🤣
I’m trying to see if I do a swap too to my 4 door

I'm getting ready to do an engine swap. I noticed you guys didnt resurface the flywheel. Do you recommend that?
I would just replace the rear main seal clutch and fly wheel while everything is out
Sounds just like my 04 sedan when it shot a rod out the block! Time for the same swap

really enjoy your videos man, keep up the good work.
thank you!
Man you swapped from D17A1 which is non VTEC motor to D17A VTEC motor which has plus 25 hp over that dead engine ....Congrats ^_^
D17A makes 130HP
$450 without a header, no CAT and a hole the motor. Good SOHC deal for you motor heads.
honda last forever lol lol
pavel1809 ya man lol

Bringing new meaning to undefeatable.
stop making excuses about how beat you are and hustle up on that honda !
That poor civic lmao 😂
yeah the sound of that old stock honda civic engine sounds like a solenoid engine and kinda like ahhhh and job well done sir...
you think you could keep the same gearbox if the engine is geared the same
bet you forgot to swap throttle bodies and lost cruise lol
Wait does that happen? Because the cruise stopped working on my 05. Maybe the throttle body is bad??? I've never heard of this issue. But.... honda... could be anything, except for the fuse because I checked that

I was like everything went well in the video BUT I’m sure behind the scenes was not as easy
So JDM engines is good?We are just about to go there and pick one up.
How do you verify that you have a good JDM? …or any used engine for that matter?
Why didn't you changed the water pump, idle pully, and belt?

I have a 2004 civic coupe manual and has a Non vtec do you know if I can just buy the Vtec d17a2 and slap it on with out changing ECU will it work ?
Hey man I have a Acura rsx base I wanna do the k20a2 or k20c1 swap could it be possible? On which one or both. I can wait for the answer
You can do it, you may need slight modifications to the ecu and lining up bolts tho
Sweet for $400 bucks. Funny when it ran with hole in the block lol. D17s aint that good compared to older d series though.
If i lived closed I would of offered to buy that old head if you were planning to scrap it.
awsome vid im doing one looked at this vid like i her ya buds lol
How much $ to go from blown to everyday runner again?
when u put that flywheel on with the flex plate and stuff does it only line up one way or does it go on how ever ?
did you really have to take off the AC and power steering lines? is there a way to not have to do that?
You can zip tie the ac to the side however the ps will need to be removed
What's up ! I got a caution for u it's a great idea bay a motor from JDM ?
did you swap from a d17a1 or d17a2?
Its a D17A from japan
Does the car still have the non vtec ecu?

what is the secret to taking shift cables off transmission?
I removed the cotter pins and pryed up gentally on the dowel pins the ride on and fed it in between the firewall, mount, and trans.
Maybe i just going to tune my Vtec SOCH 7th gen civic insted of engine swaping... save for my Integra or MR2
Thats crazy😂😂😂😂

What computer you used ?
Is it easy to swap the 1.7 for a 2.2

Great except for the mind-numbing repetitive bone grinding excruciating muzak. Had to give you a THUMBS DOWN
I killed my 1.7 liter in a month paid 3 grand for the thing lol
Bet it was because of the timing belt😂😂
Yup timing belt 🤣🤣 same problem
@@josegino2726 thats why you service the timing every 100 000km my 02 1.7 just rolled over 300 000
