My nephew called me from 2000km away . Asked me how does he upgrade his RAM . I found this video and we both did it together . Thank you !!!!
Very clearly explained, thanks.
Interesting - I have a similar model which I bought with the intention of upgrading the internal storage to a 2TB SSD, but I see here I can add a 2.5 inch drive of any kind.
Neat!
considering my drive is currently dying, this is really helpful knowing how to replace it as laptops are always a bit less straight forward than I'm used to from desktops. thanks for the easy to follow guide and especially the hardware suggestions!
Thanks for the help!
Huge thanks 🙏🙏
Well explained.
You're welcome!
This is great. Can you tell me is there any improvement after doing this upgrade? I mean is it going faster to run apps, loading. etc
Thanks for your Video 🙂
thank you for your smart suggestions...me and my grandfather nephew really needed it
Glad it was helpful!
@@TechMadeEasyUK Hi, thank you very much for this guide, I have the exact same laptop V130-15IKB, but when I contacted lenovo they said the max ram was 12gb. But is it possible to add a 16gb stick in there?
No, the maximum is 12gb
Tech Made Easy oh right thank you
Great job, man!
Hey, thanks!
I'm glad I happened upon this before buying anything. I bought a used one of these assuming it would have a standard HHD due to the price. Nope it's got a 500gb M.2, result! The SSD drive I planned to put in to replace the 'standard' drive now has gone into the second drive bay (which I didn't know it had until now) Overall a cheap but speedy and well specced Laptop!
What is the width of cdroom drive? 9.5 mm or 12.7mm?
Thank you very much!
Please link to buy the back cover?
I have the exact model but icore5 - 7th gen.
I already have 500GB Samsung SSD while waiting for Crucial 16GB DDR4.
I hope everything will go well
Thanks, does it support nvme?
Hi, I don’t know much about laptops, but is there a limit to the size of ram you can upgrade to? For instance the ram you have recommended (well the upgraded version) is also available in like 64gb so is there a limit the motherboard Can take?
Thanks brother for the help I have the model which can be be upgraded upto 12gigs
Hi, i have Lenovo V130-15IGM. Can i upgrade to 16gb 2400mhz? Pls Answer me
I have this laptop but just 1 slots and 4 GB ram non-removeable what I can do ?
Heyy Brother, Does it support 16GB of ram because i also have the same model and after getting the specifiction details i just got to know that it only supports upto 12GB of ram. And as you said in this video that this laptop supports a total of 20GB of ram so does it?🧐
I dont have cd rom can use for ssd upgrade
thank u all
What is the generation of your laptop
my computer supports ddr4 2133 MHz. Any ram you can recommend?
What type of nvme does the laptop has?
I got an error after inserting the SATA SSD. But when I return the previous Hard Disk, it functions. I put back the SSD and I'm greeted with options. And after selecting, nothing happens. It takes me back to the options.
One question, the M2 SSD that is on the board is SATA or PCI Express, how much is the ram memory speed?
This one is SATA.
What is the size of screws, please? What kind of screwdrivers do I need to use? Thanks!
The screws are M3 of differing lengths. Any small cross-head screwdriver will do
I bought the version ssd you link to however on opening the case find that it is pcie, Maybe a difference in the uk?
It's not unusual for manufacturers to change specs of machines (or for Amazon to change their product pages) thanks for advising!
Great video. What is the battery capacity of this laptop. Also the fast forwarding sound effect startled me multiple times.
Please refer to Lenovo website for specs. What about the fast forward effect concerned you?
3000-3200 mah
3816 mAh, i have my v130 open in front of me rn.
3816 mAh , i have the same laptop
Thanks for the video - it's well done. I've added an 8Gb stick of DDR4, 2666Mhz RAM, but it's not being seen by BIOS or Win10. Have I missed a specification needed?
Lenovo V130 model supports only 2133mhz or 2400mhz ram.
plssss help me with my doubt , i hv a same laptop ideapad 130-15IKB , but doesn’t hv DVD drive , will my laptop support NVME ssd ?
The best advice I can give you is to open it and see if it has the same motherboard
I've lenovo Ideapad v130, please can you tell me which type of ssd I've upgrade from my Current Hdd? Have a good day
There are suggestions in the video description and it's discussed in the video
The laptop has also 4GB of memory soldered to the board. Do you maybe know what is it's clock speed? The new memory should have the same speed as the soldered one I think.
You can see the clock speed in task manager, mine is 2400mhz but idk about yours. Btw i have the same model as shown in the video but without cd drive or secondary ram stick.
Can i replace integrated Intel grapic 620 card? Or it changes with all motherboard?
It's integrated to the CPU, so cannot be changed
Can I put a SSD of 960 gb? I saw in the hardware manual you can only put up to 512 gb of SSD/m.2
I would stick with the manufacturers advice
I bought this model for 5 mounths ago, i Will upgrade the RAM , can u tell me max capasity of RAM can i add , the recommended spec of ram
I need to know the same question. I was going to order the 16gb RAM, but not sure the Celeron processor is compatible.
Thanks, I'm just adding a SSD M.2 NVMe drive to my Lenovo Ideapad V130-15IKB and was just open and plug-in new drive. Now, i'm cloning original drive (HDD). Hope this will relive laptop for office work. Do you think a RAM upgrade would be also necessary for this laptop? It has 8GB of DDR4 RAM at this moment.
Does this laptop supports m.2 NVME Drive? I thought this laptop only supports m.2 SATA SSD. I really want to upgrade with m.2 NVME ssd.
@@mitulvaghela2651 did you find out if it supports m.2 NVME or only m.2 SATA?
@@spyke141 I have installed m.2 sata but I think it supports m.2 nvme also, I was going to buy nvme but I got m.2 sata in a great discount so had gone with it anyways.
@@bulls3y3tvi bought a m.2 PCIe 3x4 nvme and it works :)
I have a question in the type of M.2 replacement for this model; is it M.2 2280 or M.2 2260? I understand 2280 is longer than 2260, when it comes to mounting it on the motherboard.
2280
@@TechMadeEasyUK Connection type MUST be M2 2280?
hey! thinking of upgrading my ram up from 4 to add a stick of 8, just wondering if this ram upgrade does improve performance of my laptop?
Having more memory means that you can run more applications at once and/or more intensive applications such as graphic design or video editing. So if you use lots of applications at once or intensive applications then a RAM upgrade will help you
@@TechMadeEasyUK I have the model v130 15ikb 81HN It have 4gb of RAM what is the maximum RAM supported in this model?
@@diorigt4398 12gb
What about cpu upgrade? Thanks for video!!
Unfortunately on this model it's soldered to the motherboard
I have 81HN(Lenovo V130-15IKB) model which ram is compatible for my laptop both 16 gb and 8 gb rams please give me link in the amazon
They're already in the video description
Thank you!!!
Oops...I just read Lenovo V130 maximum RAM is 12gb? Now, I'm confused.
in the uk, Amazon is saying there is a new version of the RAM at this url
www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT16G4SFRA266-PC4-21300-SODIMM-260-Pin-dp-B08C4VKYFG/dp/B08C4VKYFG/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
and it's still 16GB abd cheaper. Is it suitable. Many thanks
Hi. I bought the recommended 2.5 SSD and fitted it as per instructions, but it is not showing up in file explorer. Is there something else I need to do?
You'll need to format it in Windows before it's visible. Click start, type "create and format hard Disk partitions" then click on the app that comes up of the same name. You should see the new drive listed, right click and select "format"
@@TechMadeEasyUK thank you so much. That did the trick
Hi, can I change the cpu on this laptop?
Believe its soldered on, so no
Hi dude i have a problem with my laptop i will appreciate it if u reply asap. So i have a lenovo v130-15igm and when i press the power button the fan start spinning for 3 seconds and then stops but the laptop is still on can u help me?
Have you tried running it for a longer period of time? Bc the fan doesn't start spinning if the cpu is cold.
@@Luca-ox6nf the cpu becomes warmer and the fan is not spinning
Specsheet on this laptop says max 12GB RAM. Any issues with stuffing in a 16GB module with the additional 4GB soldered on?
Manufacturers guidelines say it maxes out at 12GB unfortunately
So i can just buy the 8GB RAM + 4GB soldered is ok ?
@@whocares2.0 ive have 8 gig and 4gig soldered and its run perfeclty fine
@@TechMadeEasyUK so, don't buy the 16gb per your link?
@@TechMadeEasyUK Didn't see this before. i added a 16gb to it.. but total system shows is 8gb... any solutions to get the max of 12gb ?
I had a problem lol, when lifted the back there was like a spring/wire that fell of from near the ethernet port, I think is something supposed to be there to hold the connector thight, but i cant figure it out how it was placed. Thx for the video
That's just happend to me as well I don't know where to put it back in. Did you ever figure how where to put it back?
Itz ethernet cover spring
Can I change the processor in the laptop?
It's soldered on
i just bought the i5 8th gen model 4gb of ram .. its laggy the disk is killing me with that 100%usage .... i don't really know much bout laptops .. does upgrading to a ssd and more ram worth it ? will it be fast?
+good vid keep it up bro
Yes, upgrading to an SSD and increasing the RAM will make this device more usable.
@@TechMadeEasyUK okaay thx
Hello, I hope someone reads this and can help me. I also have the V130-15IKB without DVD drive. I want to upgrade my 1TB HDD to Crucial MX500 SSD 3D NAND SATA 2.5 inch 500GB. So far, the laptop ran with Windows 10 Home and I was offered the update to Windows 11 in the settings. So I backed up my documents from the HDD to a USB stick, prepared a second USB stick as Windows 11 installation media with the Microsoft tool and exchanged the HDD with the SSD. Booted from the Windows 11 USB stick, SSD was detected and Windows was installed. Then restart the system for the first time during installation and suddenly my SSD was password protected and Windows cannot be started. If I attach the SSD to another computer as storage via USB, I can see the system data the storage content without a password. What can I do? Crucial can't help and refers to Lenovo, who say my warranty has expired, bad luck.
Hello, please what would adding an SSD do to my laptop?
It will improve load times and responsiveness of the system
It will give ur laptop wings!
What should i do to become this model into gaming laptop so that i can play valorant or any hard games smoothly?
You can't, it doesn't have a good enough graphics processor
@@TechMadeEasyUK aw man that's so sad , anyway thanks for the response
as long as u put valorant on an ssd, then max out the ram to 12gb. Playing on low settings will give a stable valorant experience
There is olny one slot for ram?
Yes
Is it safe to exceed the 12 GB ram limit that the manufacturer suggests?
I can't recommend that you try
Will the Intel Celeron 3865 handle 16gb RAM?
Maximum supported from manufacturer is 12GB for this model
I added 8gb RAM, since maximum is 12gb. There's 4gb built into motherboard & open slot for the 8gb. It was easy to install, as well. This laptop works great now. Faster than my desktop!
so does have 2 slots or 1 slot?
1 slot. the other is soldered onto the motherboard and can't be upgraded.
Why have you listed only m2 sata drives? I thought this laptop is nvme compatible?
It is. Of course you're free to purchase whatever drive you like, these are only suggestions
Thanks! I was just worried incase I missed something and it could only use sata!
Great video btw! It explained why I couldn't see any RAM installed when I opened it up lol
This pc accept 12go max and 2133mhz so 16go 2666mhz is uselss
Can I upgrade CPU or prosesore of this model laptop?
Not likely, most laptops have the cpu soldered to the motherboard rather than in a socket
@@TechMadeEasyUK is this Lenovo v130 15ikb cpu in socket?I ask you because you open that laptop so maybe you know that
@@unknownfacts5063 I'm afraid this is but one of many laptops I've looked at, I don't recall the specifics of each. Have you tried googling it?
@@TechMadeEasyUK yeah but I didn't find anything for this model.Anyway can you tell me how can I unlock advance bios on lenovo v130?
So the way these videos work is I get the laptop for a finite amount of time, I do the upgrade as per the customers request, I film it and I return the laptop to the customer. Unfortunately I am not a fountain of knowledge for every laptop that appears on this channel, apologies that I can't be of more help
me watching this in Lenovo V130-15IKB same laptop
