DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE BATTERY CONNECTOR!!!!!!!!! I AM WARNING EVERYONE WHO IS PLANNING ON INSTALLING A NEW RAM OR SSD OR HDD, DONT INSTALL ANYTHING UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE BATTERY CONNECTOR.
But, and there is always a but, I had one of this flimsy modern battery connectors short on me while fidlling with it. I decided that from that point onwards, if the connector is flimsy I don't touch it. Also, pluging or unpluging the ram/ssd while the laptop is OFF (not sleep or hibernate) is quite ok, as power does not reach them. The risc is actually shorting something on the pcb by mistake.
@@UltimateDIY I can understand what you are saying but yesterday is just shorted a component called pl202 near the ram slot while removing the cover in top of it, so my experience from now on says don't touch anything in it until and unless you remove the battery connector.
i really loved the way you thought this part thru @30:00 very informative and glad you suggested the heat protection and shaking before turning back over. great job you got me.
I find guitar picks work really well as a prying tool to open up a case from its clips. It's soft enough not to do any damage if you aren't going crazy on it.
hi can i know what screwdriver you use to screw the nvme ssd? im planning to install hdd but i cannot put the hdd connector to the slot because my screwdriver is not the same size as the ssd screw
you cannot simultaneously use the 2.5 SSD and M.2 slot in the expansion bay, use must either insert the 2.5 SSD or M.2 SSD but not both...its not working like that.
I did exactly like you, bought a SATA q did not work and then bought an NVME M2. However, when I put the NVME it did not recognize the ssd. I still do not know the reason, you know how to help me with this problem?
You can add a 2230, but there is nothing to screw it's end into, so keep that in mind. The life of the laptop has no reason to be affected. I have an even crazyer setup now, with no bad effects: ruclips.net/video/2BALhleksyg/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Hi sir iam also using same laptop can i upgrade my ram with ddr5 or ddr4. Let me know Ddr5 is compatible for ideapad gaming 3 sir. What is the maximum capacity to extensions of Ram and Rom. 2tb nvme pcle4.O ssd is compatible for this laptop
I explain the ram type in the video, but might depend on your generation, as a new model is made each year. SSD size is only limited by how much you want to spend on it.
Does the ram upgrade give better gaming performance even tho the dual channel is going to be 2 different sizes and if so should I get a 8 or 16 gig so dim stick
Thanks so much for this i was considering on upgrading the storage and get an SSD, I just want to damage the laptop as ive spent alot of money on it of coarse
Yes. Sadly with "modern" laptops I have seen that I feel safer installing RAM and SSD without messing with the battery connector. The connectors are really small and fragile. Normally, as long as you shut off the laptop there should not be any power in memory and drive areas. But, obviously, you still don't want to test that by shorting out things by mistake.
good video, good production,,, thanks,,, I'm upgrading my son's laptop, same model,,, if your model is the same, the RAM can support 64gb, not just 32gb, as specified,,, ..... info from reddit.....
I had no intention to use a mechanical HDD. If I ever said HDD instead of SSD it was an error. Or maybe I mentioned a HDD can be used in the HDD bay, but does not make sense to use HDD in 2024.

True, that is the proper way 👍🏻

I should get some 🤔
Thanks for the tip!
This machine is a real beast, a very good workstation
Quite good.
Thanks for the tip on 28:23 😮😊
Welcome!
great video again. i love your accent. greetings from Germany!
Thank you! ✌🏼
Well said.. I too love the accent.. Although I don't think I've ever told him lol That, and when his little Angels show up visually or, Audibly.

Hi. Sorry, but I don't remember. Probably a really small Philips.
you cannot simultaneously use the 2.5 SSD and M.2 slot in the expansion bay, use must either insert the 2.5 SSD or M.2 SSD but not both...its not working like that.
Just watch the video. It's working. Ir's not intended to be used like that, but it can be done.
Did you encounter any problems with the small nvme being placed in that position? I am about to install it as you did.
No problems 👍🏻

did you initialize ssd in the disk manager ??
@@sathyacris1399 yes, but the system did not recognize it.
i thought youre not supposed to have 2.5 sata + 2280. is this okay?
The 2.5" sata and the 2280 fit just fine. The 3rd ssd on the other hand barely fits, but still works normal.
Could I add a 2230 drive instead of a 2240 drive and would the ssd+sdd+hdd configuration affect the life of the laptop?

I have this laptop the cooling is great never really goes above mid 60s
Yup, quite good.
very detailed vedio
Thanks!
are the screws from the hdd upgrade kit suitable for mounting an m.2 nvme drive
That I don't remember
what is the screw size from the HDD upgrade kit?
Sorry, but I have no idea.
Does M2 2230 Nvme Does 22x30mm size matches
How long did you use the notebook in this configuration?
Until I did this: ruclips.net/video/2BALhleksyg/видео.html

@@UltimateDIY yeah. I saw that too. But was this first one reliable? Did all work well?
It was 100% reliable. I just did the second upgrade for more storage. Even this one is 100% reliable until now.
@@UltimateDIY thanks! I'll try!
Welcome!
I had to rewind a bit when you said file down

Every thing looks fine but you should disconnect the batteries just to be extra safe 🙂
Yes, that is true, but I find "modern" battery connectors really bad, so I feel the bigger risk for me is messing with them.

You need to test and see.
If I add more RAM to this laptop, can that mean I can increase VRAM of my NVIDIA card here?
The graphics card has it's own memory and you can't change it.
Can i Install a 32gb ram? Rather then 16?
Yes.
Combined 32 i think. 16+16
Will I able to install a sk hynix platinum p41 ssd?
It should fit as far as I know.

Glad my video helped. Maybe a newer bios can now support 64gb. The info I gave in the video was my knowledge at the time.
link for the ssd ?
No links. They expire and I have over 1300 videos. No chance to maintain working links.
@@UltimateDIYcan you put two separate ram ? 8gb and 32gb?
Quite a big difference. It will probably work, but not a good idea, as you only have part of it in dual channel.
hey, what if I didn't put the thermopad on the nvme 2843 drive?
Hi. It will overheat.
It's single rank 1R x 8
isn't the ram suposed to be 3200 ?
Difference in performance is minimal. Timing and rank matter more.
M.2 SSD is faster than 2.5 SDD
Yes, of course.
